White House Down (2013)

This is one of three films from 2013 that earn a perfect 10/10 from me on IMDb 🙂

American cinema often lacks even a shred of decency. You have the President of the United States running around in jorts while firing a rocket launcher, or a little girl waving a flag in front of fighter jets to stop a bombing run. 🙂

That being said, the movie isn't a complete waste of time, primarily because it’s entertaining, and sometimes that is the most vital requirement for a film. It actually lands a few solid jokes that managed to get a laugh out of me. If you are the type of person who craves unrestrained action without wanting to engage your brain too much, you will likely enjoy it.

That said, it isn't a total waste of time. It's entertaining, which is honestly all you can ask for sometimes. There are even a few decent jokes in there that actually landed for me. If you're looking for mindless, over-the-top action where you don't have to use your brain, you'll probably dig it.

A classic no-brainer action flick, right up there with this year's Olympus Has Fallen and Pacific Rim.

Lots of plot holes and weird logic gaps, so is it any good? Not really. Is it fun? I mean, yeah 🙂 I put it on just to have something playing while I drifted off, but ended up watching the whole thing. It’s basically just a mix of action and comedy, though there was this annoying girl who somehow prevented them from blowing up the White House despite the President's orders (she kept waving that flag around).
Channing, it’s not Bruce Willis, nobody is, but we seriously need some fresh, younger action stars. He should probably film more stuff like this 😉

This movie is absolute garbage. Honestly, after sitting through this much mindless, overblown nonsense, I feel like I need to grab some high-end protein powder, download the entire Steven Seagal collection (which, let’s be real, includes much better stuff than this), take a moment to clear my head, and just sing the Star-Spangled Banner. This kind of bloated, recycled junk really ought to be banned by law.

Such a fun action flick, and man, Channing Tatum plays a total badass. It honestly felt super similar to Mount Olympus, and I’d say it’s just as good, maybe even a tiny bit better? They're definitely in the same ballpark for me. My rating: 4/10
