All I can see is the C drive, even though I was sure I set up two partitions.
What’s the move here—do I really have to wipe everything and start from scratch?

The C drive is sitting at 100 GB, but the rest of the space is just completely MIA.😕

So basically🙈, I'm running into the exact same headache I had a few months back.🤣

This time around, I'm lost on how to fix it; I've just got this 146 GB C drive, and that other 360 GB chunk is nowhere to be found.

Where do I even begin? I remember posting earlier about how simple this was supposed to be.🤣

So, I was thinking about how much easier things used to be back in the day, but then I realized how much more complicated they actually became. Does anyone here have experience with moving everything over from an old Windows XP setup to Windows 7? I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle a full backup during the transition so nothing gets lost in the shuffle. Any tips on the safest route to take?🤷

Only this time, I have no clue where to fix it. I've just got my C drive at 146 GB, and the rest of the 360 GB isn't even showing up.

Where do I even start? I think I mentioned before that it was pretty easy, but maybe I forgot.🤣

Control Panel - Computer Management - Disk Management

You should be able to find the missing partition there—just right-click it and hit Format.🙂

It's like finding a lost keys in your couch cushions—just head there, right-click, and hit Format 🙂

Thanks😁

Is there any way to swap the drive letters around? My DVD drive grabbed the D: letter, so now this partition is stuck being E: instead.

Right where you were when you formatted the disk, just right-click the DVD drive, hit "Change Drive Letter or Path...", and pick a different letter from the list.
Then you can do the exact same thing for that "missing" partition and assign it the D letter. 🙂

So, I’ve got Windows 7 running on two of my rigs, and now I’m looking at this third machine—thinking about getting it set up too. But here’s the thing: I’m not looking to drop cash on a whole damn DVD set just for the installer, you know? I just want the actual product key... something original. Does anyone happen to know if there’s a specific shop around here where you can just pick up the codes by themselves?

Does anyone know if there's a shop where you can just pick up the codes?

I guess you might be looking for a Get Genuine Kit...
You can probably find more info about that on the Microsoft site.

Though, honestly, it's probably easiest to just grab an official license 🤷

Backup of what, exactly?

If you want to do it right, you need a real solution like Acronis or Norton Ghost. We're talking about a full disk image onto a separate drive... nothing less.

What does any of that have to do with what Jesse Green13 was asking?

Well, you were the one asking him exactly what he's looking to back up in the first place. :)
My guess is he wants everything, and if that's the case, the approach I suggested earlier remains your best bet...

It might be easiest to just use that "Windows Easy Transfer" tool built into Windows. You can pick exactly what you want to back up, and then once Windows 7 is all set up, just run it again to pull your stuff—emails, contacts, docs, whatever

I’m assuming he wants the whole works—everything. And if that's the case, the method I laid out is definitely the way to go...

And honestly, maybe he *does* want everything—whatever that means to him—but there's really no point in cloning an XP drive if he's already running 7. 🙂

Just wanted to drop a quick note and let you all know that I followed Keith Bennett38's advice and used the Windows easy transfer tool. It worked like a charm!
Thanks again!

Hey everyone, I’ve been running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my machine, but for the last three days, I’ve been getting hit with this constant Blue Screen of Death, and the error code keeps showing up as stop:0x00000024. Honestly, I’m at a total loss on how to fix this, and I’d really appreciate it if anyone who knows what they're doing could lend a hand because I am genuinely stuck. It’s incredibly frustrating how it just pops up out of nowhere when I least expect it, completely catching me off guard. I’ve already tried downloading RegCure and a few other repair tools I found online, but nothing seems to touch the problem. I really need a concrete solution to get this sorted out.

This error usually means there's an issue with the hard drive or memory. 😢

I honestly have no idea what could be going wrong with my memory, especially since I'm running 4GB of DDR3 at 1333Mhz paired with a 465 GB SATA HDD. This whole Blue Screen of death situation actually started one evening when I was trying to download Microsoft Word 2010 from a torrent site; the installer kept asking for a product key that I just couldn't find anywhere, so I started digging through the various files I had downloaded, and as soon as I clicked on one of them, everything just crashed into a Blue Screen of death with that specific error message. I also saw a message saying Windows encountered a critical error, though I can't say for certain if they were related. Is there some kind of concrete, step-by-step way to actually fix this, rather than just following those vague suggestions you see floating around on random internet forums?

Maybe try running a system Restore to a date before you installed that problematic Microsoft Office. If that error keeps popping up, it might just be a hardware issue.

I managed to track down the culprit behind my Blue Screen of Death using Blue Screen View, and it looks like the issue is tied to a file called ntoskrnl.exe sitting right in System32. I ran a scan on it just to be safe, but everything came back clean—no viruses or anything. According to Blue Screen View, the error is being triggered by Memory Management. Honestly, I’m at a bit of a loss here on what to do next to get rid of this headache; I really don't want to believe it's a hardware failure, and frankly, the thought of wiping my whole system and starting from scratch sounds absolutely miserable since I've got so many programs installed already.
