Nicholas Morales48 said:The Americans didn't exactly dominate on day one... the crisis is hitting sports too.😁

Men's relay down two spots, women up two. And they didn't even grab a medal in the 400m back in 2009.

It’s not a massive gap.

The results from Day 9 (Sunday):

SWIMMING:
The men's 400m freestyle standings are in: Australia takes the top spot, followed by China, Germany, the USA, Canada, and France.
The women's 400m freestyle results are in: 1. Italy, 2. United Kingdom, 3. France, 4. Australia, 5. Denmark, and 6. New Zealand.
The women's 4x100m freestyle relay results are in, and it looks like the Netherlands managed to snatch the gold, leaving the USA to settle for second place. Following closely behind are Germany in third, with China, Australia, and Canada rounding out the top six.
The men's 4x100m freestyle relay results are in, and it’s looking like a predictable podium: Australia takes the gold, followed by France in second, and the USA grabbing the bronze. Rounding out the top six are Italy, Russia, and South Africa.

The medal standings (ranks 1-6) (4/40):
01. / 1 - 0 - 0 - 1 - 1 - 0 Australia
The score stands at 2 to 0, with Italy pulling ahead while everyone else just watches from the sidelines.
A total shutout for South Korea—it’s basically a clean sweep at this point.
The score stands at 3 to 0, with the Netherlands absolutely dominating the scoreboard while everyone else is just standing around watching.
05. / 0 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 0 - 0 USA
The scoreboard tells a pretty grim story: 0 - 1 - 1 - 0 - 0 - 1 for France. It’s basically a slow-motion train wreck.
The scoreboard is looking pretty grim: 0-1-0-1-0-0 against China. It’s basically a masterclass in missing opportunities.
The scoreboard is looking pretty bleak for the United Kingdom right now—it’s basically a string of zeros with a one thrown in there just to keep things interesting.
09. / 0 - 0 - 2 - 0 - 0 - 0 Germany
10 to 0—it’s essentially a blowout, looking more like a total shutout by the Canadian side.
The scoreboard currently looks like a complete washout: 11 to 0, with absolutely nothing else to show for it from the Denmark side. It’s basically a shutout.
The scoreboard currently reads 11 to 0, with absolutely nothing happening on any other front—just a total shutout against Russia.
The scoreboard is looking pretty bleak right now—it’s basically just a string of zeros followed by a single point for South Africa.
The scoreboard is looking pretty pathetic right now—it’s just a string of zeros followed by a single point for the New Zealand Water Polo Team.

Diving into the deep end:
The men's 10m platform results are in, and it’s basically a podium showdown between China and the USA, with Germany and Russia trailing just behind them. It's like watching a high-stakes race where the top tier stays consistent while everyone else is just fighting for scraps.

The medal standings (top 6 spots) look like this (10/10):
01. / 10 - 04 - 00 - 01 - 00 - 00 China
02. / 00 - 02 - 01 - 02 - 01 - 00 Russia
03. / 00 - 01 - 03 - 00 - 02 - 00 Germany
The score stands at 04 to 01, following a sequence of 00 - 01 - 01 - 01 - 00 - 01 against Canada.
05. / 00 - 01 - 01 - 00 - 01 - 00 Australia
06. / 00 - 01 - 00 - 03 - 02 - 02 USA
07. / 00 - 00 - 02 - 00 - 00 - 02 Mexico
08. / 00 - 00 - 01 - 01 - 01 - 02 Ukraine
09. / 00 - 00 - 01 - 01 - 00 - 01 Italy
10. / 00 - 00 - 00 - 01 - 01 - 01 United Kingdom
11. / 00 - 00 - 00 - 00 - 01 - 01 Malaysia
12. / 00 - 00 - 00 - 00 - 01 - 00 Spain

WATER POLO:
The battle for 13th through 16th place just wrapped up, with Kazakhstan edging out China 8-7 in a tight one.

Quarterfinals: Mexico vs. Romania (Men's): 8-4
Quarterfinals: USA Men's Water Polo Team vs. Australia (M): 9-8

Would anyone be kind enough to post a list of the medal winners for each discipline?🙂

I have been an absolute fanatic of swimming since the days of Michael Phelps, Klim, and those legendary relay teams, though I haven't quite had the chance to follow everything closely this time around (aside from keeping an eye on Federica). However, I fully intend to tune in starting tomorrow.
Do you happen to know what time the broadcasts begin?

By any chance, have Sullivan and Bernard already faced off? If I recall correctly, that is widely considered the premier showdown in the swimming world right now.🤷

Chris Ortiz said:Can someone please post a list of all the medal winners by event?🙂

Anyway, I've been a huge swimming fan since the days of Phelps, Klim, and the gang, but I haven't really had the chance to keep up with this meet so far (aside from watching Federica). I’ll definitely be tuning in starting tomorrow, though.
When do the broadcasts start?

Have Sullivan and Bernard faced off yet? If I recall correctly, that's pretty much the biggest rivalry in swimming right now.🤷

Every day from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, we have semifinals and finals scheduled.

Tomorrow—well, actually today—the men's 200m freestyle final is set for 12:00 PM sharp. It's the showdown between Phelps, Lochte, and Biedermann.
My gut tells me Lochte might take the gold; he just seems to be in peak form.

Sullivan and Bernard haven't crossed paths yet. Honestly, it's not even the premier matchup because Filho is outclassing both of them.😉

Jack Murphy5 As I was reading through the discussion, I noticed that Nicholas Morales48 mentioned:

The highly anticipated showdown is finally upon us. Tomorrow—well, actually, today—at exactly 12:00 PM, we will witness the men's 200m freestyle final. It promises to be an absolute clash of titans as Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Biedermann go head-to-head in what should be a legendary performance. I'll be watching closely!
I have a strong feeling that Ryan Lochte is going to walk away with the gold; he just seems to be in peak form right now.

Oh, this is definitely one to watch. I have to admit, Ryan Lochte has always been one of my favorites—what an incredible swimmer. I still vividly remember when he managed to snatch the crown from Pursell in the backstroke, and seeing him go toe-to-toe with Michael Phelps in the medley relay was something else entirely. Now, suddenly, he’s emerged as the frontrunner for the freestyle. It's quite fascinating to see how the landscape shifts.😕

Actually, I'm leaning towards the idea that Germany might take this one.

The Mexicans and Canadians moved on just like everyone expected... so when are we actually playing those Mexicans? Apparently, the Italians and Spaniards are up at 3:00 PM.

If you have access to ESPN, you can catch all the quarterfinal games. Honestly, the Canadians don't look great to me; the Americans had them on the ropes, leading by three, and then they just completely fell apart. Right now, the Mexicans look like the toughest threat, and we're really the only ones who can take them down. That Italy-Spain match is going to be a total treat to watch too.👍

One decent quarter, but honestly, nothing else to write home about... It would have been a whole different story if the Mexicans hadn't fallen apart mid-game... We won't truly know where we stand until we face the Italians.

Tičić, that elbow move should get you banned from the sport for life...

Tičić needs a lifetime ban for that elbow move...

Just a routine win against a weakened Mexican squad. Rato rested the older guys, which makes sense. Our flow looked surprisingly easy, though—we seem physically ready since we kept the same tempo the whole time. We totally broke them in the third and just cruised through the end. If things had stayed close, maybe we would've played more "seriously" in the final quarter. Maro is looking great too, back in top shape after being sick. Fingers crossed we get Italy next; they usually play right into our style better than the Spaniards do.

Tičić—what a disgrace! 🙂 Basically playing dirty for the Mexicans (who probably should be in the finals anyway). Man, imagine if Pavić had charged him after that cheap shot. He would've caught a suspension for the next game and we'd be stuck without a goalie. Pretty sneaky and definitely not sportsmanlike. I really hope they start handing out longer suspensions for stuff like this soon.
