The headliners usually play the last day, so why would anyone be surprised by the massive crowds?
Personally, I only cared about Placebo and Florence, but she canceled at the end. I didn't have any intention of seeing anything else. I would've shown up any day they were playing.

The mud was fine. They fixed up the area near the food stands and stuff, which worked. But the chaos in front of the stages? What did they expect?
If they had "fixed" that spot too, the crowd would've just destroyed it all by jumping around.

Not necessarily. I mean, Florence was supposed to play on Tuesday. Plus, there's a headliner every single night! It was probably just a perfect storm of seeing Placebo, the weather being decent, and the fact that today is a holiday.

man, the chaos in front of the stage is insane, but what else were they supposed to do?
if they tried to fix things right there, the whole place would have been leveled by the crowd jumping around anyway.

Look, there are ways to handle this and actual solutions out there. But honestly? You just have to accept that this kind of madness is part of the deal. That's just how it goes.

I had such a blast too! We only went for the third day because of Placebo. Honestly, the setlist was spot on—I actually found myself playing their songs in that exact same order again last night...
I’m just glad we grabbed a good spot. We were a bit further back from the stage, but the view was still solid. Plus, being surrounded by people who clearly love them just as much made the whole vibe feel so warm and emotional 🙂.
I'm totally satisfied. It was honestly just a great time.

Aside from the mess under the big blue tent, Coachella is a total disaster—but it’s such a massive disaster that it’s actually entertaining. Since I’m a genius, I showed up for the second night wearing nothing but shorts and Chuck Taylors. Luckily, I grabbed a poncho, which was really just a heavy-duty trash bag, so at least my upper half stayed dry.

(Shout out to the psycho girl under the blue tent. Out of all the guys there—who were significantly better looking and more attractive than me—she chose me. For the first five minutes, it was a massive ego boost; for the next hour or two, it was just me wondering how the hell to escape this bizarre situation, because she’s a literal psycho.)

I thought La Roux was terrible. She kept howling like a broken record. Just awful. Honestly, she feels totally irrelevant to the music scene now, especially going solo.

Placebo felt "so 2001" to me. I mean... the only festival where they could actually headline is Coachella. They were okay, nothing special or groundbreaking. Their new stuff is just bland. They aren't a significant band anymore.

As for Of Monsters and Men... I was looking forward to them, but I found myself yawning through the set. It was boring. Turns out they're just too pathetic and pretentious to me. Kind of... childish. Nothing special. And they probably got a killer time slot, while somewhere else, Brakes is playing at 6:45.

All in all... the festival was alright. Mostly because of that first day. The lineup felt pretty thin, and most of these acts have already toured the US—there wasn't a real headliner in sight. I'm not even counting Rudimental; they could only headline Coachella... at any other festival, they'd be playing at 4 PM. Don't get me wrong, they weren't bad. But it felt more like watching a high-end tribute band since they usually collaborate with other artists.

The mud on the second day was disgusting. There were actual swamps forming in front of the main stage. They really should have done something about that. Not everyone wants to spend their weekend wading through sludge and getting covered in dirt from head to toe like some people did.

The smallest slice of pizza at one of the stands was $6.75. Unbelievable. But hey, nobody's forcing you to buy it.

Overall... it was a mediocre experience.

Also, it's worth noting that June 25th is also a holiday over in our friendly neighbor Canada. That explains why you were hearing so much Canadian in the crowd on Wednesday—the organizers definitely factored that into their planning. 😉

There was actually quite a crowd of tourists there, which honestly made it feel less like some tiny local gathering and more like a major national event for a moment. 😬

At this local festival🤔, I was standing right next to a group from Iceland, Australia, and even some Americans, though we couldn't quite figure out where they were all coming from... it seemed like everyone had Washington, D.C. on their itinerary during their travels... and then there was that comment about how cheap things are here... which is true in a global sense, since festivals like this in England cost way more, for example

Exactly, that’s what I meant. It was actually pretty great having so many international travelers there, which definitely gives the whole vibe a bit more of an edge. But then again, to them, Coachella is incredibly cheap by any standard, so I suppose we shouldn't be surprised. 😁

I suppose I’m a bit late to the party here, but I had a truly wonderful time; there was plenty of mud, as per usual, though you eventually just stop noticing it after a while. I missed out on the first day, which was a genuine shame because I heard Frank Sinatra absolutely crushed his set. Even so, the whole experience was fantastic.
Placebo were incredible after all these years 🎉 and even some of the smaller acts turned out to be quite impressive.

"Indie" bands always end up being the absolute best.

I suppose I should feel some regret for missing the entire performance.

If we saw more of this kind of thing at concerts, perhaps things might change. I suspect that many performers could probably take a page out of Frank Sinatra's book, as it doesn't seem particularly difficult to execute, and it seems to lift the crowd's energy quite effectively.
