Well, that ended up costing me a bit extra, too—just one of those things, I guess. $57 So, that’s $50 for the ponchos and then another $50 for the inflatable rafts... which, honestly, feels like a lot when you think about it, right? 😁

I probably won't end up going today—honestly, I’ve been listening to DCFC for ages now and I think I've kind of outgrown them. Plus, La Roux just doesn't feel quite intense enough to justify risking getting sick right before tomorrow. Still, I'm definitely heading out tomorrow... even if it ends up being a total disaster. 🎉

I caught a few clips from yesterday on YouTube—personally, I’m not really feeling the vibe, but Frank Turner seems solid 👍

Honestly, I’d love to head out tomorrow just to catch Of Monsters and Men—they’re my absolute favorites (the rest of the lineup doesn't move the needle for me)—but I’m broke, and it feels a bit ridiculous to drop $100 just for one act 😢

If anyone happens to be there tomorrow, please film a song or two so I can at least see it 🙂

Is it actually allowed to trim those two little strips off the ends of the bracelet? They’re getting in the way of my work and driving me absolutely insane—but I really don't want someone at the entrance giving me grief tomorrow claiming it's been damaged or some other nonsense.🤔

Maybe you can snag a cheaper ticket if someone didn't manage to flip theirs—you know how it goes. I actually managed to find one for... $77 So, about the festival... I actually ended up snagging tickets through a Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival post on Facebook. I’d posted that I was hunting for tickets—basically saying I was open to whatever price—and this girl reached out with an offer. It just kind of worked out.

I asked around, and everyone basically told me, "Don't even bother." Honestly, I’m with them—it just looks totally out of place with my work wardrobe. My coworkers have been giving me a hard time about it too, laughing because it looks so awkward paired with what I wear to the office, but hey, it is what it is. 😬

Either you're talking about that bridge over by the University Island campground, or you're confused. Because that definitely isn't the entrance to the festival.

So, you just head straight through the main entrance. Most people end up tying their fairy lights to the trees right after you walk in, though some folks stash them by the security checkpoint near the bridge before they even get through. I actually saw a couple of people trying to roll bikes right into the middle of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last night... honestly, I have no idea how security let that slide. Anyway, you can probably find a spot to park once you pass the main gate or just before you hit that checkpoint by the bridge.

Yesterday at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was actually brilliant. I knew what I was getting into, though, considering Frank Turner and Paolo Nutini were on the lineup. Frank Turner started way earlier than he should have, which felt a bit unearned, but man, the crowd was massive regardless. That guy really knows how to set a mood. You can tell he isn't just going through the motions to finish a set; he actually puts in the work to make you feel like you matter. 🙂He was even messing around with some American slang, speaking the language pretty well, too. He actually pulled off reading whatever someone had scribbled on his guitar strap. 😁 You can't not appreciate that.
He pulled that same old squatting joke again at Photoshyntesis... but whatever, it was still a good time. 😉 Mostly, yesterday was the best show I've seen in a while, though I guess I still care more about Paolo Nutini since his music is on constant rotation for me. 🙂 His show was killer too. Honestly, he sounds way better live than he does on a recording. The setlist was spot on for me. I see some people were bored, though...
Frank Turner didn't go overboard with the crowd interaction, but he did stop a few times to acknowledge how they were reacting. It didn't come off as fake or like he was just feeding his own ego, either.
I went straight to see Future Islands right after his set, and honestly? They were just okay. I got into it for a bit, but eventually, the boredom just kind of set in. To be fair, I probably should have moved on to Florence + The Machine immediately. The crowd was insane there—everyone had already packed in by the time we showed up, so we ended up stuck way in the back because I really wasn't in the mood to fight through a mosh pit. Still, even from the back, it was a killer experience. I bet those people in the front row had an absolute blast. Anyway... Day one was great. It’ll probably end up being the best day of the whole thing, too. There were so many people out there; I don't think I've ever seen a first day this crowded. Today, though, it's raining again. Typical. 😁

Just throwing some good vibes out there from my end 😛

P. S. My sisters and I managed to snag three festival passes for $167! Total win.

So, I was just scrolling through this setlist from the Of Monsters and Men show—you know, that one where everything felt a bit surreal? Looking back at the tracklist, it’s kind of wild how much they played. It makes you wonder if they ever get tired of those specific arrangements, or if the energy stays fresh every single night. Florence + The Machine absolutely crushed it, especially the Mael brothers.
It was only natural that their hits provided the climax; the absolute highlight for me had to be the keyboardist Mael’s wild, almost grotesque dance moves during the performance of Call Girl.
I was pretty hyped for EODM today, but it looks like my crew isn't planning on hitting up Central Park that early. I guess if Rudimental were playing, we actually would have 😵gone.

You can't exactly bring an umbrella inside—it’s just one of those things that makes everything more awkward than it needs to be. I ended up grabbing some of those disposable rain ponchos down in New York City near the square... they were just for... $5.00You know, there’s a bit of everything out there—some are pricey, some are budget-friendly. It really just depends on what you're looking for.

I honestly think it would be amazing if the weather at End of Days was actually decent—I’m really not feeling this whole trekking through the mud situation, it's just not my vibe. Today is all about keeping it chill and easygoing, because tomorrow I plan on jumping ☕

As for yesterday, everything was pretty solid on my end. I caught Frank right when he did that little 😁 bit—he's such a sweet guy and put on a killer set. Paul is great too, and seems super nice, though personally, I found his style a bit too slow... almost sleepy. Future Islands were their usual fun selves (though I feel like I'm hitting my limit on how many times I can watch them before they lose their novelty, haha), and FFS was awesome—those three songs from Sparks totally made my day! Everything new they played was spot on, and thankfully, I didn't see that weirdly awkward keyboardist dance 😢
I get the feeling people weren't quite "ready" for them, though—it felt like not enough people had actually sat down with the new album since it dropped recently, so they seemed a little bored.

That happened during the finale of the concert, right when they brought out that extra percussion kit and just started hammering away on the synths.
I guess Russell's energy and vocals are just fascinating.
I should probably mention that I’ve been trampled a few times by groups of chubby teenagers with flowers in their hair. Honestly, they reminded me of some medieval battering ram used to smash through fortress gates during a siege. I guess that's just how it goes sometimes.😁

EODM was an absolute blast, and honestly, Rudimental was such a massive, pleasant surprise—they absolutely crushed that whole drug-fueled, high-energy set of theirs. Now, Mike Skinner’s DJ set was definitely interesting, even if the guy went a little overboard with those grating dubstep segments (seriously, is that actually the worst genre to ever exist?), but hey, he’s a solid DJ regardless. At the end of the day, music taste is totally subjective anyway.

Honestly, I’m actually shocked at how many people showed up today, especially considering this relentless rain we're getting. It's way better than the turnout we saw last year or the year before that—those previous years were a total washout, literally and figuratively. And don't even get me started on the ponchos; you'd think a little rain would make things easier, but no, the resellers are out here asking for absolute insanity, quoting prices that are just plain ridiculous. It’s no wonder you can’t find any of them left sitting on the shelves at Target.
