OB/GYN recommendations in a small town in the Midwest

Does anyone have any leads on a gynecologist I could see ASAP? Ideally, I'm looking for someone located in a small town in the Midwest.

As far as I’m aware, you only have two gynecologists covered by Medicare in that small town in the Midwest—Dr. Kujundžić and Dr. Beljo. I’ve been seeing Dr. Kujundžić personally, and I have to say, I’m quite happy with him. He’s very approachable and always goes out of his way to accommodate my requests; he isn't brusque at all, and he never makes a fuss about handling referrals or prescriptions. That being said, since I haven't run into any major complications, I can't say for certain just how specialized his expertise is when it comes to anything beyond those standard routine checkups.

So, I’m currently a patient of Dr. Beljo, but honestly, her scheduling is just a nightmare. I’ve been waiting three whole months for a re-test for mycoplasma and ureaplasma because the first sample ended up contaminated. Now she's telling me I can only come in at 9:00 AM, which is impossible since I work a standard 8-to-5 shift. On top of that, I have to drop the samples off at Rockefeller myself, whereas last time I was able to just leave them at a small town in the Midwest location.

Does anyone know what Dr. Kujundžić is like? Does he take new female patients? Please, if you can, give me the full scoop—is he blunt or rude? Does he do swabs and Pap tests? And how long is the wait? With Dr. Beljo, if you're going through Medicare/Social Security Administration, you're looking at a 4-5 month wait. Also, would he be willing to re-run those two specific tests for me? Most importantly, I really need someone who explains things clearly and is gentle and considerate. I’ve had some pretty awful experiences with gynecologists in the past, regardless of who they were. To make matters worse, my urine tests came back showing bacteria, and my GP told me I need to see an OBGYN immediately. I feel like I'm just stuck waiting forever, and my husband and I are actually trying for a baby right now, so it's super urgent. I've heard that ureaplasma can cause miscarriages, so I really need to get this sorted out ASAP.😢

I know most people deliver their samples to Rockefeller, and I don't blame Dr. Beljo personally for the chaos, but I just can't get time off work to drive all the way to New York City in the morning. Everyone is working during those hours, so there's just no way I can make that trip. The only place I could potentially drop something off before work would be that small town in the Midwest.

You know how it goes with swabs; you absolutely have to go first thing in the morning since that's when the courier picks up from the local clinic. And if you’re being proactive and driving the sample over to Rockefeller yourself, you've got to get it there by 2 PM at the latest. Last time, she didn't even bother scheduling my swab, so I ended up switching providers—but honestly, I've never waited more than three weeks for anything, let alone three whole months! Usually, Pap smear results take about a month and a half, tops.

The reason I'm waiting on this swab is because I can't just drop it off at Rockefeller since I'm working. It wasn't my mistake, and I feel pretty stupid having to pay so much money for someone else's screw-up.🤷

As for Paps, I honestly don't know. I only know what she told me and what my friend told me (she was waiting four months for her results!). I always just get my Pap smear done privately; I get the results back in a week...$50 It doesn't happen that often, so I'll always just pay for it.😉

I honestly can't be sure—though my gut tells me she’s started playing those philosophical games again, trying to drag us all into paying for her services out-of-pocket—and frankly, it irritated me so much that I decided right then and there to swap her out for someone else.

I’m also a patient of Beljo, and honestly, I haven't been particularly impressed with her medical expertise. It's true what everyone says—she’s lovely and easy to talk to, and she makes the appointments feel very friendly. But at the end of the day, I didn't go in for a chat; I went there for a professional medical evaluation. Between the long wait times and the high costs, it's hard to justify.
I'm actually considering switching to a different provider, perhaps one in a suburb of a major city. 🤔

I totally agree that she’s clueless. I have clear ovaries, and when I asked her what that actually meant, all she said was, "The ones that release an egg during your period, nothing more, nothing less." Like, she doesn't even know the medical terminology for it!

On top of that, she told me I have a tilted uterus, and when I asked if that would make it harder for me to get pregnant, her brilliant response was just, "We'll see..."

So yeah, that's basically all I can say about her... honestly, I'm feeling pretty desperate right now. If any of you guys have a good recommendation for a doctor nearby, please let me know.

Hi everyone! I’m also a patient of Dr. Beljo, and honestly, I am beyond frustrated with the whole experience.
Just trying to schedule an appointment takes forever, and then when I actually show up for my scheduled time, I end up sitting there for at least two hours! Their only excuse is always that they have "emergency cases" to deal with.
I had a bit of a situation recently where I tried to drop by... and the nurse was incredibly dismissive toward me, basically telling me it was too crowded and the doctor couldn't see me. Look, I’m not showing up just because I have nothing better to do; I’m there because I actually need medical attention!
If I want to get an ultrasound covered by Medicare, I have to wait months on end... it's just exhausting. If I go to a private clinic, I could probably be seen tomorrow, though I wouldn't get a receipt to file for reimbursement.
And don't even get me started on the communication. When I call to check on my test results, all I get is a vague "Oh, it's fine," yet I can't actually see the report itself—it's like I can't even find where the specific findings are noted on the page. I've been waiting over a month just to see the actual results. It's just terrible.

I have definitely decided it's time to hunt for a new gynecologist because I simply can't deal with this anymore. Does anyone know a good private specialist in a suburb of a major city or maybe somewhere near a small town in the Midwest who is actually reliable?

Look, let's be real, Bill Belichick is a total disaster! I need to get away from her clinic ASAP. There is zero chance that woman even gives you a proper look unless you're opening your wallet, and even then? Once you pay for that $67 ultrasound, the whole appointment lasts maybe three minutes—and if you're trying to use your insurance through Blue Cross, you're lucky to get ninety seconds. It's absolutely pathetic.
The place is always packed, too. One time I walked in and there were 13 different women already there, all booked within the exact same ten-minute window. Pure insanity.
