Anthony Smith3 said:Blade is just excellent... even by today's standards... I mean, some people really need to realize this isn't some damn Citizen Kane, it's an adaptation of a comic about a half-vampire who hunts other vampires. Honestly, what else are people actually expecting from a premise like that besides a good time??!🤷 🤷

I agree... and as such, "Blade" works perfectly. It's a shame I was too exhausted to sit through it again recently, since it's been quite a while. "Blade 2" is a different story entirely, and I guess Del Toro maybe shouldn't have gotten involved... I remember it being kind of dull and a tough watch, whereas the first one is high-level action horror at its absolute best.

I’m just wondering how that pale dude Edward Cullen would actually go down if Blade caught up to him. Would it be a stake, some serum, or just a classic sword strike? 🤣

I honestly can't stomach a single second of that trilogy🤮

I read somewhere that Wesley was supposed to jump back into acting and even pull double duty as a producer for a fourth installment (God forbid anyone actually breathes life into that idea), but then he got hit with a tax evasion charge and ended up behind bars instead.

I didn't say it was anything new :-). But I think it fits perfectly alongside that previous post...

Not really...IMO Blade 2 actually outshines the original. It's got a slightly different vibe and visual style, a cool story that ties Blade's past to his enemies, and killer action... pure enjoyment. Because of that movie, I'm actually thankful to Del Toro for that eye injury...👍

Because of that movie, I have to thank Guillermo del Toro and his eye for detail, thank God...👍

Well, I don't think I'll watch it again (I saw it ages ago back in high school), but I know for a fact I was deathly bored... For me, Guillermo del Toro really caught my attention right when he needed to with "Panov's Labyrinth"... He's also very good with "Devil's Backbone," which I watched later on. I'm not really interested in "Hellboy" and don't think I'll give it a chance, but I will watch "Cronos"... Still, I suspect he will never make, and likely never will make, a film better than "Labyrinth."

I agree, the movie is definitely better than the first one. The cast is better too. The only thing is that Blade's "partner" really annoys me. The Reapers are great. They're resistant to everything except sunlight👍. And one more thing. Out of the whole vampire crew, besides Reinhardt, my favorite is that quiet Japanese man, Snowhite, if I remember correctly. He's basically Blade without the guns. Just swords. My only complaint is he didn't get a bigger role.

They’re killer. Basically invincible unless you hit them with the sun. 👍One more thing. Out of that whole vampire crew, besides Reinhardt, I’ve gotta say that quiet guy is my favorite. A Japanese man named Snow White. If I'm not mistaken, the guy is basically just Blade without the guns—all swords. My only real gripe is that he didn't get much screen time.

He’s actually Chinese, but he’s playing the part. Donnie YenHe’s easily one of the most elite martial arts stars out there right now. Plus, he actually handled the fight choreography for Blade 2.

Blade is garbage, but if nothing else, the vampires speak American (while the girl says "get your hands off me")🤣

The absolute highlight of the entire movie has to be Wesley Snipes 🤣
Honestly, the only thing they actually managed to get right was 🤷

It was an okay flick. Honestly, there wasn't anything profound enough to walk away with some deep life lesson or piece of wisdom, but I guess I wasn't really expecting much out of it anyway.

It’s an adaptation of a comic about a dhampir hunting down his own kind. I mean, what exactly are people looking for from a premise like that, besides a good time?🤷🤷

I still remember it like it was yesterday... somewhere around Christmas back in '98. Me and a buddy were just killing time, wondering what to do, and decided to hit up the theater. We knew Snipes, so we figured, why not go see that Blade movie? We walked out of that cinema absolutely stoked.

That flick was an absolute blast. From the action beats to the directing and those fight choreographies—everything just hit. Honestly, my take hasn't shifted one bit since the first viewing. I still go back and get a kick out of it every single time.

One more thing... I've always said Blade was basically The Matrix before The Matrix even existed. They shared so many of the same vibes.
It’s like there's an entire different reality tucked away right underneath our feet—even Snipes calls it out at one point. Wake up. Seriously. This whole reality you're living in? It’s nothing but a layer of frosting. Beneath that sweet surface, there's a different world entirely—the actual one. If you plan on making it through, you'd better learn how to pull the trigger.

The guys were all decked out in leather, rocking dark shades—basically, the outfits were identical.

The fight scenes were pretty ahead of their time, too. They used this filming technique that hadn't really been seen in a Hollywood movie before... then a year later, The Matrix comes along and does the exact same thing.

Bullet Time... I mean, it didn't go nearly as hard as it did in The Matrix, but there was definitely one scene where they pulled it off.

I feel like Blade and The Matrix basically ripped off Terminator when it comes to the main characters. They’re both rocking that same tired look—black leather jackets and sunglasses. It's all the same vibe.

It seems like Terminator might have lifted that motorcycle sequence from another film.

Blade is one of those movies that immediately flips you into a total "hell yeah, let’s go" mode within the first ten minutes—it just grabs you by the collar and doesn't let go until the credits roll. 🙏

But, I suppose if you’re the type who considers yourself some sort of deep, brooding philosopher—the kind who constantly feels like they're trapped in a scratchy wool sweater they can't ever peel off—then this probably isn't your cup of tea... ☕
