Look, I’ll give Mladen his due—he definitely knows his stuff more than I do—but there are just a few things about Spa that aren't sitting right with me.
1. Max dove into that first corner just desperate to reclaim his spot, which is fine, I guess, but he drove it like there wasn't a single soul in front of him. He took a line that basically guaranteed he'd have a disastrous exit from the turn and probably end up flying completely off the track. somewhere around 55 sec
2. Then, during that first overtake attempt, Kimi was holding the line, Max braked way too late and ended up with all four wheels off the track, and somehow he's the one who has to give the position back?!
3. On the next attempt, he was using DRS to defend the inside line, which is alright, I suppose, but trying to compare that move to how drivers used to handle things back in the days before the DRS system existed is just wild. At the moment of the pass, the driver behind has an open DRS, which combined with the slipstream gives them a massive speed advantage over the guy in front, so waiting until the last second to react defensively is basically playing Russian roulette for whoever is trailing behind.

Honestly, the FIA and their stewards are just a mess. I actually find myself rooting for young Max and I think he's a stellar driver, but then why on earth are they penalizing other drivers for reacting in the exact same or even similar ways?

Even after two and a half years—he finally posted this on his Facebook fan page 😁

If we were to view things through a Machiavellian lens—much like how Jergović tends to analyze matters—wouldn't one conclude that Verstappen's greatest sin was starting from P2, only to finish outside the points while his teammate stood proudly on the podium at the end?

Regarding point number one, Vettel is the one at fault. It isn't because he intended to leave space for Kimi, but rather because Max found himself in that position by rushing to get ahead of his teammate at any cost... he had half the track to choose his line... 🙂

Edit: The real issue within Ferrari is what happens if Kimi starts consistently beating his own teammate; I mean, why on earth did they even bring Vettel along then... 🙂 that explains those overly cautious, lukewarm statements regarding their collision...🙂
It was the same in China, and honestly, it still is... both times, Vettel was the one to blame... (Tibi, don't even bother replying to this 🙂 )

As for everything else, Max does things he simply shouldn't—changing his line during braking, driving way too aggressively and dangerously... it feels like watching a teenager playing on a PlayStation, thinking if he "dies," he can just hit reset and try again... he really should have been penalized, but hey, it's Heineken, so I guess that's just how it goes... 🙂

I mean, I'm totally with you on that first corner—it was 100% a Vettel mistake, no question there. But honestly, the way Max tried to dive into those turns was... well, maybe a little bit overoptimistic, if you ask me.

If that collision hadn't happened, Max probably would have ended up behind Vettel, and maybe even Kimi too, because there's simply no way he could have maintained that kind of pace without flying off the track...

If there wasn't a crash, there would've been a crash. 😁🤣
I don't believe for a second that Kimi could've dodged Max, even if Vettel had swung wide. Max and Kimi were going to collide regardless...

P.S. Here we go... I can do this. 🙂

What’s wrong with a little speculation? 🙂

It's just "what if"... we have Monza coming up, and Spa is already ancient history... 🙂

I'm glad he's back. I don't always agree with everything he writes, but he really knows his stuff when it comes to F1. Honestly, I'd much rather have him calling the races, qualifying sessions, and practice rounds instead of those four windbags from Arena who wouldn't know what they were doing if it hit them.

First things first: let’s get one thing straight—there’s no room for haters on this site anymore. As soon as the news broke that I’m taking over these pages, a few characters popped up trying to tell the world (but mostly themselves) that 1/ Jergović is an idiot, 2/ he isn't actually an F1 expert, 3/ they finally have a reason to never visit this website again, 4/ and so on.

And then there's this comment down below...

Dear Mladen,

We are blessed to hear that such an amazing F1 analyst is back on his feet. WE know that People in America will always appreciate Your unobjective support of Lewis Hamilton.

Kind regards from all your people at FOM.

P.S. Bernie says hi.

🙏🤣

Alright, which one of you was it? 😬

Look, Mladen is good, but yeah, he definitely lets his bias show when it comes to his "favorites."😁
But hey, he’s not the only one.😬

I certainly am not!! 🍿

So, do we have a new nickname for our buddy Vetmic yet?

The Fourth Windbag

Honestly, I don't care about the rankings; they’re all equally terrible.

Their biggest flaw is their group dynamic—that belief that they constantly need to be talking. You have Martinčević rambling for five minutes straight without taking a breath, only to end up saying absolutely nothing because he loses his train of thought, and then Vetma cuts him off with some nonsense like: UUUUUUUUUU Hamilton had a MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!

What does that even mean?

And then there's that silly little betting game they play among themselves to guess the order before qualifying. They should just keep that behind the scenes; nobody actually cares.

I could write hundreds of pages on the nonsense they spout or how they could actually improve their work, but they clearly couldn't care less, which is why I just stick to Sky.

By the way, I'm putting a group together to send a collective complaint to the network regarding the commentators. I have 15 people signed up so far, so if anyone wants to join, just send me a DM.

🤣🤣🤣

I used to actually like that clown—honestly—but man, I don't think I've ever encountered anyone who handles a differing opinion quite this poorly.
When he first launched his site, he seemed almost... restrained? But then the whole circus just kicked off. 😬

Jerga knows how to write a hell of an article. He also knows how to get things completely, fundamentally wrong.

This article is useless if it stays stuck in the 90s. Everything relevant here was already said somewhere else about two hours ago...

Ever since he took over at GP1, everyone’s just sitting around waiting for his stamp of approval before they dare comment. Free speech? Yeah, right. It's dead.

And that first article wasn't even journalism; it was a damn novel—just pure yellow journalism.

Now they're coming for Dijaković. Honestly, it's just a matter of time before they turn on him too.

What a complete mess.

Linda Peterson43 said:I’ve been reading through the comments over on GP1, and honestly, what can I even say? It didn't take long at all... 🙂

His very first post in the comment section—and mind you, nobody had even said anything to him yet, people were just asking questions, which is standard procedure:

"Greetings, though only to those capable of truly appreciating hard work and expertise. As for the rest of you, feel free to crawl back into the gutter and go treat your itch there."

OMG 🙂 🙂 🙂

But this specific claim of his is the absolute kicker:
“The reason I follow every single qualifying session and race with about 50 or 60 comments on Twitter in English isn't because I'm trying to show off or just offering my take on the race flow (because if I did that, I'd be doing it in American). The real reason is because Dean Locke—yeah, wow, quite the name!—the head producer for Formula 1 broadcasts at FOM, specifically asked me to send them to him. He has a production assistant sitting right next to him who basically 'reads' the race for him. That assistant also grabs my Tweets and feeds them directly to Dean through his headset, and then Dean uses that info to make adjustments during the broadcast.
Don't believe me? I wasn't doubting it for a second.”

It is genuinely disheartening to watch what Jergović is doing to his own reputation. I could almost tolerate the constant posturing regarding his buddies or him reciting tweets directly into the ears of the race producers—mostly because his actual writing can be quite good. But this habit of picking fights with the readers in every single piece? Honestly, even Zak Houdek doesn't go that far.
