So, I’m back on Reddit for the first time this year—and what do I find? A three-day ban and a threat of another one. 🤣 Honestly, both are pretty educational, and I have to admit, I had no idea they even existed. I figured I’d share them with you guys—please, pass these "discoveries" along to the rest of the community so we aren't all just stumbling around in the dark. It’s a long process.
Here’s what I learned today:
a) You can actually bypass the 75-post limit if you happen to get an infraction notice.
b) Handing out a three-day ban to someone who isn't even active here over weekends or holidays is just plain ridiculous.
c) There are moderators out there who don't know how to take a joke and instead resort to threatening bans via private message.
I logged in this morning to 77 messages, two of which were unread. Basically, I kept my inbox empty just so I wouldn't be greeted by a flood of New Year's resolutions and other nonsense from people who think they actually know me.
MrBeast sent the first message, going off about 35 points and claiming—and I quote—“a three-day cooling-off period will help you realize.” Unknown, three days of what? Seriously? I wasn't even on the site over the weekend; I spent those three days lying around watching movies. So yeah, this "weekend ban" really opened my eyes.
The second message came from the terrifying Deedy. Just a short, absolutely chilling threat: "next time you're banned." Scared yet? You can admit it. I sure was. Why threaten a ban instead of just saying Happy New Year? Because I had the audacity to reply to this post with "Moderating? 🤷". Can you imagine the nerve? Such a violation deserves nothing less than a threat of a ban—provided, of course, that you're childish enough to think people actually take you and your subreddits seriously. Like, LOL at getting a DM threat because you aren't being "traditional" enough.
