Honestly, Windows 7 is kind of a mess; I feel like Windows XP was a hundred times better. I have a quick question for anyone who might know the answer, so please reach out if you do.
So, I’m currently running Windows 7, but I really want to roll back to Windows XP. My main concern is that I don't want to lose any of my files or programs in the process. Is there actually a way to make that happen without wiping everything? If anyone knows how to handle this, please send me a private message.

Please, just leave it alone. Seriously, stop with the spam. Contact him directly! Go to his house! Now!!1one

It would be great if they could just set a limit so kids under 9 can't post in the IT section of the forum 😁

Hey there!

Quick question... might be in the wrong spot, but whatever...

Can someone point me toward the drivers for this motherboard: ASUS M5A97? I've been hunting everywhere, but I just can't track them down...

Thanks in advance!!!

Dear child, why don't you take a break... how can someone even attempt to critique an operating system when they clearly lack the basic knowledge to install one in the first place?🙏

Taylor Morales31 said:Well, I suppose that could work if you aren't too picky about the specifics, though I was looking at getting the x86 Ultimate version on a machine with 2GB of RAM—which really acts more like 1.75GB once you account for the graphics—for maybe around $38 or $39, whereas you're looking at the x64 version with 4GB of RAM for closer to $100...

So, I've got this setup running 32-bit Windows 7, and my system processes are eating up about 39k. I've actually got 4 GB of RAM installed, which should be plenty, right? I even gave the 64-bit version of Windows 7 a shot just to see what would happen, but honestly? The 32-bit version feels way smoother to me. It’s weird because, logically, you’d think 64-bit would be the faster, more efficient way to go, especially with that much memory available. I don't get why the 32-bit build is outperforming the 64-bit one on my machine—it just doesn't make sense. Why isn't 64-bit actually running faster like it's supposed to?

Maybe a tiny bit faster, but it's negligible. 🙂

Does anyone happen to know how to resolve an issue I am having with Firefox on Windows 7? Specifically, whenever I attempt to access Facebook through the browser, the home page flashes momentarily and then immediately disappears. I have already tried reinstalling the software, but the problem persists... If anyone has encountered a similar situation, I would be most grateful if you could suggest a solution 😁

I find myself facing a rather minor technical nuisance.
A persistent, unsolicited notification has begun appearing on my screen, stating, "This copy of Windows is not genuine," which subsequently forces my entire desktop background to turn pitch black.
Could someone perhaps advise on how to eliminate this occurrence? It has become profoundly irritating.
I suspect this issue may have been addressed previously, but attempting to sift through over 3,000 posts feels akin to self-inflicted masochism, wouldn't you agree?

You don't need to dig through all 3,000 posts. Just try scrolling through the last two or three pages. I guess the exact same question was already answered 🙂

I've been using XP since forever. 😁
My latest install is running Service Pack 3, and honestly, it works like a charm.

But I'm itching to try something else... something a bit wilder. Bob? 😁 ).
The thing is, Windows 7 seems mostly built for eye candy—all those transparent buttons, taskbars, docks, and stuff I can't even put a name to.

To cut to the chase: how would Windows 7 actually handle on my old rig from seven years ago? 😁

Athlon XP1900, 1280 MB RAM, and a Radeon 9600 256

Basically—does it make sense to stick with XP and just spruce it up with things like WindowBlinds, or am I better off just jumping straight into a new week?

Your rig was built for XP, and honestly, it's probably best if you leave it that way. 🙂

shadowjackal16 said:Anyone know how to fix this broken Firefox thing on Windows 7? Like, I try to open Facebook through Firefox and it just shows the homepage for a split second then vanishes... gone. Reinstalled the whole damn thing and still nothing. If anyone's dealt with this glitch before, please let me know how to fix it.. thanks 😁

Honestly, I ran into the exact same headache with Firefox and Facebook,
so I just nuked Firefox and installed Google Chrome instead.
I use Internet Explorer 8 and Chrome now, and both work fine without any of that Facebook nonsense.

No offense intended, but Firefox just sucks in my book.

I just got back from practice and shut down my laptop... I powered it back up and everything seems to be working fine now. If it starts acting up again, I will look into installing something else...

Using WindowBlinds and all those other "candy" skins is going to choke his system faster than a single week of heavy usage ever could... 👍

He's got enough RAM to get by, though he's clearly aware he won't be able to run much at once...

My latest install is running Service Pack 3, obviously, and honestly—it works flawlessly.

But I'm feeling a bit adventurous—maybe go a little wild (Bob? 😁).

To get to the point: how would Windows 7 handle my ancient rig from seven years ago? 😁

In other words—does it make sense to just stick with XP and spruce it up with things like WindowBlinds, or am I better off just ditching it all for a new week of life?

Stick with XP. My machine is slightly newer than yours and I actually nuked Windows 7 because there aren't any decent drivers for my graphics card—an ATI x1650 Pro—and Microsoft’s generic drivers are a total disaster. I couldn't even watch a damn DVD without it stuttering constantly. 😁
