It's Fences. She provided a solid link... 👍

Does anyone happen to know what this Backup Certificate Wizard is all about? It pops up incessantly every single time I boot up my computer. What exactly is its purpose, and more importantly, how can I prevent it from [/URL] appearing? It’s becoming quite a nuisance... here is a screenshot:

I’ve been running Windows 7 for about six months now, and I haven't run into this specific issue once. But then, one day, I booted up my PC and the taskbar didn't look like Windows 7 anymore—it looked like it had reverted to Windows 98. Everything is just this dull gray, and right after startup, an error pops up that prevents me from switching back to the standard Windows 7 taskbar. I can't seem to fix it any way I try. Does anyone happen to know how to resolve this?

Is it possible that you just have Aero turned off?

If you can, please post a screenshot of the screen and the error message.

So, I went ahead and installed Windows 7, but then I realized I totally forgot to set up two separate partitions. Does anyone know which program I can use to fix this? I really don't want to have to redo the whole Windows 7 installation from scratch if I can avoid it.

Thanks

If I do all this from XP, and once I'm done and reboot into W7
will it actually show up.

I think you might have already seen this mentioned somewhere, but XP and Win7 are two completely independent systems. Whatever you do in XP won't affect Win7, and vice versa. I guess it just doesn't work like that. 🙂

Hey there... so here's my situation. I've managed to forget my password for Windows 7... and to make matters worse, I'm using an administrator account. Is there any way to get back into Windows without having to rely on my memory to recall the password? Thanks!🙂

First off, we aren't running some custom XP Performance Edition here; this is just standard Windows 7. Second, this is someone's DIY home project, not an official Microsoft build, so if you’re looking for technical specifics, maybe try asking the person who actually cooked this up in nLite.
you're talking about performance edition 😂

I managed to carve out an extra partition from my XP drive for W7 and it’s running like a charm. Thanks for the software recommendation.👍

The OS doesn't have any "holes" or bugs. Plus, it supports all drivers for either XP or 2000.

On a side note: I have 3 Windows 7 licenses I got from Microsoft, selling them for $333 each.

You've gotta be kidding me. Just admit you're lying... or maybe you're just high and talking nonsense.
Give my best to your grandma. 😛

So, I've been staring at my screen wondering how to tackle this RAM situation. It says I have 4 GB total, but only 2.96 GB is actually being used. Is there any way to get all of that memory working for me? Also, just for context, I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. Any tips?

It probably isn't 64-bit, though. 🙂

Wait, let me get this straight... isn't the main issue just whether I actually need to go out and grab the 64-bit version?

Is your Win7 acting up or something? Are you running into specific issues? I mean, the fact that it isn't recognizing all 4 GB of RAM probably shouldn't be messing with your day-to-day performance too much, I guess. 🙂
