I’m getting absolutely nothing on my monitor... I've already tried restarting it twice now, but still just blackness. 😁

man, this stuff is actually pretty interesting to me, do you happen to know any decent tutorials on how to pull this off?
like, say, using a laptop to push an OS onto a desktop via a LAN cable
if you don't mind sharing, that is

thanks

well, here's one I found in English:

btw, you can find the MAC address like this: just right-click on the LAN connection (that little "TV" icon on the taskbar down in the bottom right 😬), then hit "Status," then "Support," and finally "Details." Under "Physical address," you'll see a string of six hex numbers. Yep, that's your MAC address right there.
You could also probably dig it up using the Command Line: ipconfig /all

Some part of that link seems to be acting up, so if it doesn't work for you, maybe try this one instead:

Or just keep it simple and run "ipconfig /all" in the Command Line"

Man, forgive me if I'm totally misreading what you're getting at here, but a desktop and a laptop... 🙄
Okay, I'm guessing you should probably take a look at the power scheme on the laptop itself (just right-click the screen and hit "Properties") and see how that's all configured. Honestly, just disable Hibernation; I don't think I've ever needed it in my entire life, not to mention how that absolute garbage feature just clogs up your hard drive with that massive hiberfil.sys file.

I think there’s some confusion here. One person sees the desktop as the actual computer tower, while the other is just talking about the screen interface... Maybe you two should get on the same page 😍

I can't believe I'm even looking at this right now. Seriously. Another day, another massive headache involving our national infrastructure. You see these headlines and you just have to wonder... does anyone actually have their act together over at the federal level? Probably not. It’s the same old story, isn't it? Some major system goes sideways, everyone starts sweating, and we’re all left wondering if our data is basically sitting out on a sidewalk in downtown Chicago for anyone to grab. It’s exhausting. Honestly, why do we even bother with these massive centralized setups if they're just going to be a giant target for every script kiddie with a laptop? Is it incompetence? Is it just bad luck? Or is it just how things work now? Everything feels so fragile lately. One minute everything is running smooth, the next, the whole house of cards starts shaking. Just more noise in an already loud world. What can you even do besides wait for some official statement that probably won't tell us anything useful anyway? Typical.

Oh, by the way, if you're looking for that MAC address, just right-click the LAN connection—you know, that little network icon sitting over by the taskbar in the bottom right corner. 😬So, you just go ahead and click "Status," then hit "Support," and finally grab "Details." Under the Physical address section, you’re gonna see this string of six hex numbers staring back at you. Yep, that’s your MAC address right there. Simple enough, right?
You can probably dig that up using the Command Line too: just run ipconfig /all.

Some link is totally wrecking things. If you can't track down the right one, just try this instead:

I can't even begin to deal with this link. Seriously, what am I supposed to do with this? Just stare at it? It’s just some broken redirect from a Google search that looks like it was cobbled together in a basement somewhere. Why does the internet even work like this sometimes? You click something thinking you're actually going somewhere, and instead, you just get stuck in some digital loop of nothingness. Honestly, it’s just another day in this chaotic mess we call the web. What's the point?

Alright, thanks for the links. 👍 I'll give it a shot once I finally get back home. Right now I'm stuck messing around with some wireless connection that is absolute garbage... honestly, what even is this?

Thomas Hernandez21 said:Or just keep it simple and run "ipconfig /all" through the Command Line. Why make things harder than they need to be?

Ready when you are. Throw it at me. 👍

Thomas Hernandez21 I can't even begin to explain this one... just one of those days where nothing makes sense, you know? It’s like everything we thought we knew about how things work is just... gone. Just evaporated. Anyway, what was I saying? Oh, right. So, basically...
I think we’re talking past each other here. One person’s looking at the desktop as the actual hardware sitting on their desk, while the other thinks we're just talking about the workspace on the screen... Honestly, maybe just get on the same page first. 😍

If this applies to me... man, I honestly thought we were talking about a desktop.
Desktop PC... if that ain't the term, then I don't know what you'd call it. 🙂

I just finished installing Windows 7 ultimate on my laptop, but I've hit a bit of a snag. Every time I try to shut down, the system just hangs. It displays the "shutting down" message and then stays stuck there indefinitely. It won't actually power off. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Try this:

Hit Start, type "perf" (no quotes), select "performance Information and Tools" under the "Control panel," then go to "Advanced tools." See if anything pops up under "performance issues"🤔

I'm getting this error message...

It looks like my drivers are interfering with Windows when it tries to wake up from sleep mode. When I dig into the details, this is what shows up...

"Drivers are interfering with Windows resuming from sleep mode" and when I check the details, it shows me this.....

The card being used is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430.

Under "These drivers are causing Windows to resume slowly" it lists the date as August 20, 2010.

Try installing the latest driver for that specific card (be sure to check the "Release notes" under "Documentation" first).

So, this is what I'm dealing with. It keeps happening constantly; whenever I boot up the PC, I get stuck with a screen featuring a taskbar like this
I already tried that "find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects" option, but it just tells me the theme isn't supported. I've been using this exact theme for ages and it used to work perfectly fine before.
On top of that, I can't even switch to a different theme.
Does anyone happen to know how to fix this?

Hit Start, type "services" (no quotes needed), go to Programs and select Services. Find the Windows Event Log. The status must write "Started", and the startup Type "Automatic". If it isn't set that way, right-click the service name, go to Properties, and on the General tab make the changes. Hit Apply & OK, then restart or log out if you need to. 😉

I followed everything exactly as you laid it out without changing a single thing, but I figured I'd try a quick reboot just to be sure. Turns out, after the restart, everything seems to be working normally now. Thanks.

Hey everyone! So, I've run into a bit of a headache lately—every single time I boot up my computer and get into Windows 7, I get this annoying little error message popping up. It says something about a RunDLL error where it can't find a module called Win32.rom, or maybe something close to that? Does anyone have any clue what might be causing this? I'd love some help figuring out how to fix it!

Honestly, you'd be better off posting about this over at Security - Reddit. Make sure you follow the instructions provided by Benjamin King2. It sounds like a classic hijack to me. 🙄

So, I’m trying to fire up this game on my new laptop, and it’s throwing some error at me saying I need to enable hardware acceleration or something along those lines
Can anyone walk me through how to actually do that? Is it even doable?
Then there's this other headache. When I try to run a different game—one that’s been running flawlessly on my old laptop for four years straight—it hits a snag. Both games work perfectly fine on the old machine, but on this new one, I get some weird error about a video editor, and then suddenly the audio just cuts out entirely.
Is this because the graphics card is garbage, or am I looking at a sound card issue here?
Thanks a ton, guys.
ps, I'm running Windows 7
