Kevin Perez2 said:First post here, so I might as well talk movies. Since I’m probably the biggest film expert on this entire board, I’m putting my money on Ghost Rider and Spider-Man being the absolute best adaptations out there—they're totally mind-blowing.

Those two movies are complete garbage, especially Ghost Rider. It’s basically up there with those Michael Dudikoff flicks—which are decent enough if you like trash—but Ghost Rider? That one is just straight-up trash.

😲garbage😲? Give me a break. That movie is easily one of the best out there. It isn't garbage at all; it’s a definitive masterpiece. And for what it's worth, Michael Dudikoff is actually a solid actor if you weren't aware—he's got a certain presence, a look that sets him apart🙂. As for Ghost Rider, it’s a classic, a work of art. Honestly, buddy, calling it that just doesn't sit right with me.

Ghost Rider is one of those movies that had all the potential to be something akin to Hellboy, but man, it just didn't even come close. It mostly boils down to Nicolas Cage and some seriously sluggish—and I mean incredibly lazy—scriptwriting. You get a little bit of a lift from legends like Peter Fonda and Sam Elliott, but only when they’re actually on screen, and honestly, it's just because they have these charismatic faces that could eat Nicolas Cage for breakfast... and he's a decent actor, really, he just gets completely lost in these massive big-budget productions where he stops actually acting. Even though Daredevil took a lot of heat back in the day for being a bad movie—which was way overblown, or maybe just for the wrong reasons—Rider actually deserves most of its bad reviews. The only way you can justify it is by looking at the box office, grouping it with successful comic book adaptations, but we all know that's never been a real measure of quality.

I hope all the Watchmen fans can forgive me for not being able to stomach their little darling of a movie.
I mean, what exactly am I supposed to enjoy about a superhero flick where the only "super" power is changing the pattern on the socks worn by that guy whose name I didn't even bother to memorize? (And let's not forget that blue Automan who spends the entire runtime just philosophizing.)
Is The Comedian actually any good? Or maybe the big guy with the braces? Or are people just obsessing over the girl in the latex?
Sorry, but the movie to me is just Your Loss. ☕

While Daredevil was attacked relentlessly back in the day, much of that criticism was misplaced or based on the wrong things; however, Ghost Rider deserves every bit of its bad reputation. At best, you can slot it into the category of successful comic book adaptations based on box office numbers, which has never been a reliable metric for quality.

😲Look, please,😲 the movie had potential and it absolutely utilized it, whether you want to admit it or not. The film captures all that controversy and personality; honestly, it's just impressive.

Yeah, absolutely fascinating, a total masterpiece of celluloid. A flawless adaptation, right up there with The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption.🙄

You can't just hit me with a "Your loss"—I sat through the whole movie and, frankly, I was bored. 🤷
Does that automatically make me some kid who just doesn't "get it"?
A movie could have incredible character arcs, stunning cinematography, deep metaphors, or poetic symbolism—none of that matters to me if I'm struggling to stay awake. If it's boring, it's a bad movie. Period.

For instance, I find watching Iron Man to be a total blast—fingers crossed they don't mess up the sequel.

Meanwhile, Ghost Rider is just painful to watch. It's basically just Nicolas Cage in a wig. 😂

Just off the top of my head—I feel like we're still missing a few titles, maybe things like Swamp Thing, the Evil Dead series, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Perhaps Barb Wire, the 1990 version of The Flash, or even Flash Gordon could fit in there too...

Wait, you're telling me *Batman Begins* isn't considered one of the main ones??? I mean, I guess I could see why someone might say that, but I really don't think so. It’s pretty central, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but it feels like a huge part of it to me. 😕 Wait, what on earth is going on here? I mean, seriously, what is actually happening right now? I guess I might be a little out of the loop, maybe... but I am genuinely confused.
Well... if I had to pick my top three, I suppose I’d have to go with "V for Vendetta" and "Unbreakable." They really stick with you. As for "The Incredibles," I'd say it's sitting comfortably in the reserve, and honestly, it's doing just fine right where it is.

Look, if you look at it from a different angle, the movie is actually great. All I'm saying is there are better films out there than The Godfather, including some mafia flicks unlike anything ever made in America, but hey, to each their own.

Ghost Rider is definitely one of those superhero flicks where you spend half the runtime wondering what on earth happened to his hair—seriously, it’s just so incredibly blunt 😁

It’s basically the exact same situation with Daredevil 😁

Well, well, look at that—it seems Batman is finally being led by someone who actually knows what they're doing, which is exactly how it should be.

Ghost Rider is a total disaster—Cage just lacks the charisma, and he honestly looks ridiculous trying to play a superhero... Personally, I thought Iron Man was even worse, easily one of the most boring movies I’ve ever sat through, though I get why people dig it—I guess it's all subjective... Anyway, it just hit me that Constantine (based on Hellblazer) would have been such a perfect blueprint—just a wasted movie with a few decent scenes here and there.

If you view Constantine as just a standalone film, it's actually pretty great, but as an adaptation? It's a complete mess.

Please.😲Is it just me, or is this becoming a massive issue?😲Ghost Rider is actually a solid film. It isn't the disaster everyone claims it to be. Honestly, it’s pretty pathetic that you can't recognize a decent movie when it's staring you in the face. Truly tragic.🙄

I’m halfway with you there—my main gripe was how bad the adaptation felt. But I can't call the movie "great"... it feels like they wanted to make this gritty, dark flick about an anti-hero, but they lacked the guts to actually commit. Instead, they Hollywood-ized the whole thing to play it safe for the masses, so now it just ends up being mediocre across the board. Imagine how good this could've been if they actually stuck to the source material...
