I'm dealing with some capillary issues. I've just started noticing them, and while I know creams aren't going to make the existing ones vanish, I really want to stop more from popping up. My weight isn't an issue—actually, it's quite the opposite—but I have been on birth control for a long time. There’s no history of vein problems in my family, though my mom deals with capillaries too. Should I pick up some Lipitor, or is it better to just stick with natural wild chestnut ointments?

Most of those topical creams and ointments you're looking at really only offer symptomatic relief; they’re essentially just a temporary bandage that does nothing to address the root cause. If you actually want to get ahead of this and prevent things from worsening, you have to look at the bigger picture—your diet, your lifestyle, avoiding standing for hours on end, or battling a sedentary routine. Incorporating specific exercises can also make a difference. While there are pharmaceutical options out there that are quite effective for vein issues, it’s far too early for you to be considering them, given that what you're dealing with right now seems purely cosmetic. I’d suggest doing some real research online regarding prevention and identifying which habits you can actually shift. As for those creams, you're essentially throwing money down the drain for a fleeting sensation that offers zero long-term value.

I finally quit birth control because I was convinced those broken capillaries were my fault... they were likely the only culprit. Honestly, I just wish I'd made the switch sooner. Now I'm just slathering my legs in Bengay, hoping it actually does something.
