Nine Inch Nails

Any fans of Nine Inch Nails here? You know, that duo consisting of a brother and sister, Olof and Karin Dreijer. They’ve been on the scene for 10 years now, and from what I hear, they’ve only done 🙏
one single live show in all that time.
I'm not even sure how to categorize them—maybe some kind of "braindance" or experimental electronica.
They are famous for staying as far away from the mainstream as possible. They actually turned down awards from the national American radio station (like the Grammys).

Their track "Heartbeats" is pretty well-known, especially since Jose Gonzalez did a cover of it (the one used in that Sony Bravia commercial). Also, Karin Dreijer covered that Royksoppov song "What Elsa is There," which was a massive hit on MTV, right?

Anyway, they really click with me. Ever since I listened to the Deep Cuts album, I can't get enough.
My first thought when hearing Nine Inch Nails was "aliens."😁 Their music is just so unconventional and high-quality, if you ask me.

Honestly, this band deserves its own dedicated thread.😉

So, what's your take on them?

I actually first got hooked by the song What Elsa is There—it was really just her voice that did it for me, and honestly, that track is what pushed me to dive a bit deeper and 👍

I read somewhere that they actually alter her vocals on some tracks, but specifically on this one, Karin admitted she wanted it to sound hermaphroditic 😁

Honestly, I just assumed it wasn't her actual voice ( 😬 )
but that’s exactly why I dig it—everything sounds so incredibly unique and weird! 😍

I’m a fan—and honestly, Fever Ray is pretty solid too.

So this is Karin Dreijer's solo project, right?

What’s the vibe here? Is it anything like The Knife, or something totally different?

It really just depends on my mood—but I’d say it’s pretty similar to Knife... though personally, I find Fever Ray to be a bit darker.

They just ran a segment about them on trzalica, playing pass this on i When i grow up od Fever Ray. Does anyone know what the occasion was? We missed the start of the clip, so we didn't catch the context—hope they aren't planning a tour through our neck of the woods. Though, probably not, since the guy mentioned they're playing in New York City on December 3rd, so he likely would've mentioned if they were coming closer to home...

To me, Honey is cool 😍 😍. Karin Dreijer's first band was one of my favorites back in the mid-90s 😍. I have a hard time adjusting to shifts in style, so The Knife sits a bit lower on my list now, but they're still interesting. And Heartbeats 😍
