Pubic hair removal advice?

As you can probably tell from the title, I’m dealing with a really big problem right now.
Basically, about half an hour ago, my vaginal area started itching intensely, and then this swelling happened immediately after. It’s gotten so large that it feels like it might burst at any second. On top of that, I noticed some discharge yesterday, but it was kind of thick and clumpy. I was also sick recently, so I’m wondering if maybe this is all connected to my immune system being down.
But honestly, the swelling is what’s really scaring me.!!!
I’ve been scrolling through the forums, and I guess it could be anything at this point.
Has anyone else gone through something similar?
And what should I do? I'm pretty terrified...😢

You might be dealing with a more aggressive yeast infection, especially if you've recently finished a course of antibiotics.

I haven't been on any antibiotics for quite a while now.
I have my annual checkup scheduled with my OB-GYN at the end of January, but I'm honestly not sure if I should just wait until then or... maybe do something sooner?

That sounds like it could be vulvitis, which can actually stem from several different causes. If I were in your shoes, I’d make an appointment with a gynecologist as soon as possible.

I went through the exact same thing you’re describing—totally identical. Swelling, 😲 redness, burning like crazy, and this thick, whitish discharge with those little white clumps—nothing particularly smelly, maybe just a sort of sour-sweet scent. A few girls on the forum told me it was definitely a yeast infection and recommended using Monistat cream and some vaginal suppositories. I applied the cream and used a suppository last night; it was still stinging a bit this morning, but it’s almost back to normal now. I have two suppositories left, so I’m hoping everything will clear up once I finish them—fingers crossed, because I can't actually see a doctor until the end of January. 😢

To start, try rinsing with chamomile tea; it helps soothe the symptoms a little bit. I also drank tons of kombucha and ate some garlic—can't hurt, right? 🤷

Plus, a friend of mine works at a CVS, and she said the same thing—yeast infection—and suggested I just grab whatever the girls here recommended...
though honestly, I have no clue where this yeast even came from out of nowhere. 😲

As for the yeast infection, honestly, there could be anything causing it, even something totally trivial.
Last night I used those wipes and that intimate wash from a brand like CVS, and I have to say the inflammation has gone down noticeably, though it isn't completely gone yet.

Honestly, it’s ridiculous. She’ll just tell you it’s a massive infection and insist you rush into her office immediately.🤣

Maybe try asking a specialist oncologist instead.

Though, based on what you're saying, it sounds like a yeast infection. Just grab some Monistat or Clotrimazole at a CVS and apply it to the area.

For some immediate relief, try rinsing the area with a diluted acetic acid solution. You could even soak a small tampon in it and insert it to help neutralize things. Tomorrow, you should definitely hit up your doctor to get a prescription for Monistat. Based on everything you've described, it sounds like a classic yeast infection.

It’s probably best to go see a gynecologist because vulvitis can be triggered by bacteria or even a nasty allergic reaction. I’ve never experienced swelling quite that intense from a yeast infection.

To give you some context, about four or five days ago, everything just went south out of nowhere regarding my genital area. There was this sudden swelling, followed by an unbearable itching that just won't quit. Because I've been scratching constantly—partly from the irritation and partly because of how quickly this escalated—the entire area feels raw and wounded. Even simple trips to the bathroom have become a total nightmare; there's this sharp stinging sensation whenever I urinate or even when I'm just trying to wipe. It isn't localized just to the labia, either; the discomfort seems to spread across the whole pelvic region down toward the anus 😳 It feels incredibly chafed and raw... I honestly don't know how else to put it. This morning, I actually noticed a few drops of blood on my underwear from those irritated spots.

Does anyone have any insight into what might be going on here?

Just for background, I’ve been dealing with some CIN1 and a localized infection, which I’ve been managing with antibiotic vaginal creams and suppositories. I also recently finished a twelve-day course of Doxycycline to clear up a Ureaplasma infection, which wrapped up about five or six days ago.

It’s probably just a yeast infection... 😢 they usually pop up after you've been on antibiotics or if your immune system takes a hit

I’ve been doing some thinking and I have a nagging suspicion this might be a yeast infection. It makes me wonder—could I just head to a drugstore, pick up some over-the-counter Monistat, and try to handle this myself without a doctor's visit or a formal diagnosis? Is it safe to essentially fly blind like that? Also, what kind of nasty complications am I looking at if this actually is a fungal issue? One should never trifle with their health, as relying solely on self-treatment can be quite unwise; after all, isn't it possible to deal with both yeast infections and bacterial issues simultaneously?
