If you actually bothered to look around this forum, like, even just a few threads up from yours:

Look, I'm asking specifically about Windows 7 Ultimate, not just regular Windows 7.

First you should probably check out the differences between the standard Windows 7 and the Ultimate version 😬, then maybe come back here and ask 🙂

Give him a break, he's still just a kid. He'll learn sooner or later. 😁

If I’d known sooner, I would've just gone with the "standard" version—these Aero gimmicks and visual fluff drive me crazy. They just eat up RAM for no reason... hmph, I don't know. I demand raw performance, not some flashy nonsense, and honestly, I'm still not satisfied. With a 3.0 dual core and 6GB, editing Full HD video is a total disaster.
And this new media player supposedly supports those formats, but it won't even play the audio...
Man...

Whatever...

That part’s pretty easy. Just turn off Aero and switch back to classic mode.

In the system settings under performance... you know, those visual effects? I've turned almost all of them off. It’s a thing—I honestly feel like the PC runs snappier when they're disabled, though maybe it's just my head playing tricks on me. Either way, I don't see why most people bother with them when the base Windows 7 doesn't even need them... well, aside from Aero and those other visual flourishes...
don't get me wrong...

Is there some kind of add-on for Windows 7, or maybe just a setting, that lets me change the "All Programs" menu so it actually looks like the one in XP?

Sorry if this has already been covered, but I’m swamped right now and honestly can't keep up with every single post here. I've run into a bit of a headache: I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop, but it isn't an official version and hasn't been activated. It's been sitting on my machine for a few weeks now, but the activation just won't stick. Now, I'm constantly getting those "X program has stopped working" error messages whenever I try to run certain software. I did a little digging, and part of me thinks it might be some messed up registry errors, but I'm not really sure. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any idea how to fix it? Thanks in advance

I don't get why everyone's whining about the new week when it works perfectly fine
If people actually bothered to check the system requirements before installing, they'd realize it isn't meant to run on ancient junk with 512MB of RAM and an 0.80 GHz processor—not to mention a GPU that can barely handle Tetris

Just buy some new PCs and enjoy yourselves

Windows 7 actually runs pretty smoothly even on an older setup:

P4 2.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce

No issues at all, I guess. 👍

Zero issues. 👍

That's plenty for basic work
I'm talking about "junkers"

Most of the "experts" are just complaining about it. 😬 Luckily, there aren't that many of them around. 🙂

So I walk back into my room after a shower and my PC is just dead. Honestly, my first thought was that my brother snuck in and shut it off on me,

But nope. I boot it up and it tells me the system shut down because of an error. I click the details and—surprise, surprise—it's a Blue Screen. 🤷

How often are you guys getting hit with this crap?
And anyone know how to kill this error for good? 🤷👎>

It's a laptop

The official requirements say 1 GHz and 1 GB of RAM
So here's the deal:
It'll run, but it's gonna lag like crazy.
Then you'll just end up whining about how crappy it is and how they built it wrong.

And any tips on how to fix it? 🤷👎

Well, what exactly did the Blue Screen say?

I don't know about you all, but Windows 7 is a complete disaster. Sure, it installs, it boots up, and I suppose it runs slightly faster than Vista or XP—there's no denying that. The real issue is that certain programs, let alone games, simply won't install. Even when they do, they either fail immediately or crash after ten seconds with some error message saying "blah blah.exe has stopped working." Visually, it isn't much of an improvement over Vista, though I guess the taskbar is a bit more practical. I think I'll stick with Vista for at least another six months until these issues get sorted out. It seems rather absurd that software released five years ago works fine on 7, yet stuff from just last year isn't even compatible.

Lucko, seriously, you’ve started acting just like S.T.A.R.S.
Vista is easily the biggest failure in the history of computing, and even the folks at Microsoft have basically admitted it at this point.
There is simply no comparison between Vista and either XP or Windows 7.

I honestly don't get why people trash Vista so much. For me, it worked totally fine 🤷
even now, a week later... still running smooth as can be.
