So, how did you actually burn it? Did you make sure to set it to burn as a bootable DVD?

Wait, how the hell am I supposed to set it to burn as a bootable DVD? I'm using ISO Power right now and I don't see any option for that anywhere.

Once you’ve pointed PowerISO toward the image you want to burn to a DVD... just head over to the "Tools" menu and click the first option. In the new window that pops up, the image file should already be selected at the top. Just locate where it's sitting on your drive, pick a disc if you've got a stack of them ready, set your burning speed, and hit "Burn"...

I honestly can't believe people are still asking stuff like this... No offense intended, but seriously.

Why even apologize? Honestly, that’s just how you should have written it from the start. 😁

So, I finally got Windows 7 Ultimate RTM installed and it seems to be running pretty smooth so far... I did a little something to make sure it stays up and running constantly... I mean, I'm pretty sure you guys all know what I'm talking about...🤣

Oh, absolutely. In fact, plenty of others have already pulled off THAT LITTLE TRICK. 🙄

This drops on the 22nd, but when does it actually hit the shelves here in the States? 🤷

Also, is it true that even Windows 7 struggles when it comes to UTF-8 support?

driftingnomad68 said:If you just grab Windows 7 from a retail store and get it activated, everything should run smooth as silk without any random crashes or anything. I guess that’s really your only solid bet! 👍

You don't even have to go out and buy it at Best Buy... If you're tight with Microsoft (like I am), they might just send it over to you. Or, I guess, you could just download it online if you've got an MSDN license! 😉.

I've been messing around with Windows 7 (both 32 and 64-bit) for a few weeks now. I'm still running into a couple of headaches on my home rig (the 64-bit one), especially with the driver for the original Xbox controller. It's being a real pain, I guess.

I'm pretty happy with things so far, I guess! Hopefully, it stays this way.

Quoting (Link.):
Mark your calendars for October 22nd. That’s when Windows 7 hits the market with support for 14 different languages: English, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Chinese (Hong Kong).

Then October 31st.The rest of the lineup includes: Turkish, Czech, Portuguese, Canadian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Greek, Ukrainian, Romanian, Arabic, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, Estonian, Canadian, Hebrew, and Thai. AmericanMexican Latin, and Latvian.

So, you can pick up Windows 7 at retail on launch day, though you'll be stuck with the English version. If you're holding out for an American version, you're going to have to wait until the end of the month.

You can find more details regarding the Windows 7 upgrade here. Here..

So I'm having a headache with my Logitech X-530 speakers—they're acting like a basic 2.1 setup instead of 5.1. Their official drivers and the Realtek manager just won't play nice with Windows 7, so I grabbed a different Realtek version. In that one, when I run the speaker test, all 5+1 channels work perfectly fine, but then I try to actually watch something on Media Player or YouTube and... nothing. It just defaults back to 2.1. Even after messing with the Control Panel settings to force 5.1, it’s still a total bust.

A few of my legacy programs aren't running quite right lately, but honestly, compared to how much of a disaster my life has been recently, I'd say things are looking up just fine.

That's exactly what I was looking for—I don't care about the American version anyway. Thanks a million! 😬

Wait, what?
I mean, the American version has been out for months now. You basically need the Ultimate edition, otherwise you aren't getting anywhere with this

I’m personally leaning toward upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. A lot of my software—Google Earth, Windows Messenger, things like that—has been feeling pretty sluggish lately, so I think it’s high time for a change.
So, is an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 actually doable? And more importantly, will my files stay intact?

It might work, but honestly, I’d just recommend a clean format—if everything is already acting up now, it'll probably just keep crashing after an upgrade anyway

Windows 7 is pretty, sure, and maybe even "smart," but honestly, if I'm being real with you guys, Windows XP just feels faster across the board when I'm running apps.

A few days ago, I ran some tests—compressing files with WinRAR and WinZip, processing AVI files with ConvertX, and moving stuff from one partition to another—and Windows 7 consistently lags behind XP by about 10% to 15% in terms of write speeds and file copying.

As far as I can tell from my testing, this version isn't even 1% faster than Windows Vista.

I've got 4 GB of RAM (effectively 3.25 GB) and an overclocked Core 2 Duo at 3.4 GHz.

Alright, so I’m kicking off some testing on Virtual PC today. First up, I'm gonna get Windows XP installed, then move on to Windows Vista, and finally run it for a whole week just to see how the hell everything holds up on a machine with only 512 MB of RAM. This could take me a week or two since I've got other stuff on my plate, but I'll let you guys know how it all shakes out once I'm done. Until then, wish me luck! =)
