I’m talking about the system requirements.

Like, you know, when you're checking out a game's readme file and it says something like "Memory – 1.0 GB or more (1.5 GB for Windows Vista)"

A little effort goes a long way. Google can find just about anything if you actually bother to look.

I have already exhausted those options prior to even posing the question, yet I must report that nothing yielded any results, save for the repair performed via the installation disc itself...🙄
It appears that Windows 7 has managed to disappoint me quite thoroughly.... 🤷

I don't know... Windows 7 actually managed to let me down. 🤷

Did you actually read EVERYTHING on that page I linked? Like, did you even bother opening it? That URL at the bottom of the page. And did she actually find the solution on there? 🤔

Where and when will it be possible to purchase Windows 7 here in the States? Furthermore, what kind of pricing should I expect, and how many computers am I permitted to install it on?

You'll find it at any decent electronics retailer or big-box store like Best Buy.
Windows 7 officially hits the shelves this Thursday, October 22nd.
Check here for more details on pricing and availability.

I've run into a bit of a headache with my codec setup.
On my old Windows XP x86 32-bit machine—running K-Lita—the picture quality is absolutely stellar. But now that I've moved over to Windows 7 64-bit and installed the K-Lita pack, the video quality is just... well, it's atrocious! It looks like every single pixel is actually a giant 5x5 block of color—just total pixelation everywhere. I mean, if I'm sitting about 12 feet back on the couch, I might not even notice it, but if I actually want to sit down at my desk and enjoy a movie, it’s practically unwatchable. 😢

Just go ahead and download some 64-bit codecs for 64-bit Windows 7. 🙄

Noah Sanchez39 said:Then... Download it! Go ahead—get it! So, I’ve been diving down a bit of a rabbit hole lately—you know how it goes!—thinking about those elusive 64-bit "codecs" specifically tailored for Windows 7 64-bit. It’s one of those little technical puzzles that seems simple enough until you actually start digging through the files, right? Anyway, just wanted to throw this out there for anyone else currently wrestling with media playback on their 64-bit setups! 🙄

Well, I mean—I'm pretty sure I mentioned earlier that both of them are actually 64-bit versions... and yeah, over here in the States, they definitely come in 64-bit!

Why on earth are you guys even downloading codec packs?
Just grab a decent media player and you won't have any issues—though, I guess if things do get weird, ffdshow is always there as a backup.
Those codec packs just cause nothing but headaches.

Honestly, I’ve never run into a single issue with codec packs before.
I even tried making my own custom pack—tried running everything totally bare, nothing worked... then I tried adding those codecs from VLC, and still, the exact same result...
Everything runs flawlessly on xpu, though...

You might want to try using VLC Media Player instead. Just install the basic version without messing with any extra codec packs; it runs smoothly on my Windows 7 64-bit machine.

Look, buddy, I am telling you that I have tried absolutely everything. I fail to see which part of this remains unclear. 🙄

It has been functioning perfectly all day today, though yesterday I found myself completely unable to connect to the internet...
And that is essentially the situation.
🤷

Everything is running smoothly on my end. I’ve had Windows 7 RTM installed for quite a while now and I don't really have anything to complain about, except for maybe one thing... It’s nothing major, honestly, but they ditched the Classic Start Menu. I mean, it’s not like I actually use it, but I guess I just feel a little bad that they decided to get rid of it.

Does anyone know if the release date here in the States is still set for October 22nd, or will it be pushed back? I'm also curious about the price point—if anyone has an idea how much more expensive it’ll be compared to Windows Vista, though I suspect we can expect a significant markup...
Also, is there any truth to the rumor that laptops pre-installed with Vista will include a free week's worth of content on a DVD?

So, what have you guys been experiencing with the new Windows 7 and gaming? I’m specifically talking about those older titles released back before even Windows Vista was a thing. Are we looking at major compatibility headaches, or does everything seem to run smoothly enough?
