You can, or you don't have to. It really just comes down to whatever you and the buyer agree on. ๐Ÿ™‚

Quick question: is there any way to ship a package and get paid for it on the exact same day? If thatโ€™s actually a thing, what do I even call it? Thanks in advance!

Hey there!
So, I was waiting on this super important letter to arrive, but since I'm just renting, my last name wasn't actually on the mailbox (itโ€™s fixed now, though!). Where can I go to pick it up? Should I just head to my local Post Office?

Fantastic!!!
Postal rates are going upโ€”shipping packages under 2 kg will be the cheapest option $6.00 if you pick them up at the USPS office, whereas $6.75 home delivery
costs more. I have a feeling this parts trading thread is going to die out slowly; itโ€™s just getting too expensive.

hm... I have a quick question, maybe someone here knows the answer..
I want to send a surprise birthday gift, but I've run into a bit of a puzzle. I have the last name of the homeowner and the full name of the recipient, but they aren't officially registered at that address. To make things trickier, I have the street address and the city, but I don't have the specific house number. Is there any way to piece this together? I can't exactly look up the exact address, and asking the person would totally ruin the surprise.. :-) thanks!

Was it standard mail or certified? Check around the mailboxesโ€”above them, on the shelf below, whatever the setup is at your place. Sometimes our mail carrier just tosses stuff into a random box. ๐ŸคทAsk at the post office, or honestly, just ask your neighbors.

Just write the name, the street, and leave out the number if you really can't find itโ€”honestly, the mail carrier will probably figure it out. Put the city, and then just add a note in parentheses next to the name saying "for [Name], the tenant" or something similar. Good luck.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™‚

USPS is hiking up shipping rates againโ€”sending packages under 2kg will be cheapest $6.00 if you pick it up at the post office, but $6.75 home delivery
is going to sting. I have a feeling this trading thread is going to slowly die off because these costs are just getting ridiculous

http://www.usps.com/UserDocsimages/c...2020110201.pdf

Starting February 1st
PRICING BASED ON VALUE. Package price includes insurance up to $33
For values exceeding $33, thereโ€™s a 3% fee (including tax)

Delivery at the post office for up to 2kg $6.00, 2-5kg $6.75, 5-10kg $7.75

I can't even factor in the USPS rates anymore; they jumped by about 30%, which means everything in my collection is basically 30% more expensive too. ๐Ÿ‘Ž How long is this nightmare going to last?๐Ÿ‘Ž

Ugh... I really hope they do. :-)

Itโ€™s a risk, sure, but it should work out. Even if itโ€™s a tiny town where everyone knows everyone else's business.๐Ÿ˜ Worst case scenario, you just call the local Post Office and ask them to hold the package for pickup. (I mean, why aren't they in the digital directory anyway?) Slightly worse, the package gets sent back to you. Absolute worst case? You get reimbursed for the value if it actually goes missing. Fingers crossed.๐Ÿ™‚
(Pro tip: you can always add a little description of what the house looks like at the end of the address. You know how kids are these days, haha.)๐Ÿ™‚

Anyone here dealt with a lost package before?
It was definitely sent about 17 days ago, but nothing has shown up. The girl who sent it gave me a photo of the shipping receipt and handed over the tracking info.
Whatโ€™s the next move? ๐Ÿ˜•
Also, what happens if they can't find it, and how long am I supposed to wait?

Are you sure it isn't just sitting at the local USPS office waiting for pickup?๐Ÿคท
I don't know how long you'll be waiting, but I can tell you how it went for me last time. If the package is truly gone, she'll get a resolution from the claim department. A few days after the claim is signed off, they'll cut her a check. Usually, the compensation for a lost package covers the value of the items plus the shipping costs and the filing fee (I think it's around 5, $3.25). As the recipient, you're basically out of the loop on this part. You can only really claim damages if the thing arrives broken or way past its delivery date. Once the post office pays her out, she'll refund youโ€”she might do it as soon as the claim clears. In my experience, they called me, so the post office will probably just give her a ring. Anyway, good luck! ๐Ÿ™‚Maybe it's not actually lost yet.๐Ÿ˜‰

No, it wasn't at the post office. Both she and I were there.
I've ordered plenty of times without an issue, but these last two months have been a disaster with USPS. First, I waited a month for a package only to find out it had somehow ended up shoved under a driver's seat in some delivery van somewhere. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ
Now it's happening again. I got a notice from the local claims office yesterday, so I guess I have to go sign some paperwork stating I never actually received it...
Itโ€™s just exhausting. ๐Ÿ˜

This might be a bit out of left field for this thread, but I was wonderingโ€”if I head down to the local Post Office to deposit cash directly into someone's checking account, how long does it usually take for those funds to actually hit their balance?
I honestly canโ€™t believe how much theyโ€™ve jacked up the service fees at the Post Office lately...๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

Hmm. Seems unlikely they'd pay out the full amount. Even then, sheโ€™s still taking a hit... nothing is ever truly lost.
I'm still holding out hope that ๐Ÿ™‚
will turn up.

Can't believe how much more expensive the Post Office has gotten lately...๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

It depends. It takes longer than a wire transfer through Chase or something. Usually about 4 to 5 days, sometimes less, occasionally more.

I'm kind of hoping ๐Ÿ™‚

will turn up.

Just get your deposit back and let her collect the insurance from USPS. Nobody loses in that scenario.๐Ÿ˜‰

So that would mean I should end up with double the money... like, if I paid $20, she's supposed to get $40 from the post office... so 60 comes back to me, and she keeps 60 as if she actually received the goods? Doesn't seem right. ๐Ÿคท
