What if we organized some kind of cycling competition for the ladies wearing skirts? We could act as the judges—they ride, and then we decide who takes the win. We’ll snap photos for everyone who isn't in NYC, and maybe we could even do it regionally before a big finale... The winner gets 🤔 shots we took. 😁

Well, if you absolutely have to, we'll just turn a blind eye for

just one second.

So, I rode my bike to work today. Pure bliss, right? Except, you know, there’s about 15-20 inches of snow dumping down like crazy, and apparently, all the pedestrians think they own the damn road, so they're just staring me down like I'm the problem. 🙂

go Steve go Steve Go Steve 🎉 🎉 🎉

Just told my wife I'd be working until 3.1 miles. Honestly, there wouldn't be a single day where I wouldn't bike if it weren't for days like this when it's 12 miles... then it's a whole different story. 😢

Man, right now it’s just total garbage... if the roads are wet... whatever... I'll just ride 6.2 miles/h and I won't end up getting sprayed all over my legs... if it starts snowing... I can probably still pull 15-20 mph on my current tires... easy, no big deal...
Every single morning, you see people around 50 or 60 years old out riding their bikes... umbrella in hand 6.2 miles/h, heading to the market, the grocery store, wherever...

I guess I had a similar find today 😬

(it was tied under the seat with dental floss ☕)

I wasn't out on my bike today 😢
there was some rain this morning, and I didn't really feel like spending the whole day with wet sneakers...

Haha, well, that's my bike🙂 anyway, that one you photographed has been sitting there by the Ferris wheel for at least six or eight days now. Nobody’s touched it... just weird...

I know yours is...
As for this one, I caught sight of it for the first time yesterday, though maybe the snow just made it stand out more 😬

To anyone out riding today—watch yourselves, because there's ice everywhere...

I actually spotted this one for the first time yesterday, though honestly, it might have just caught my eye because of all the snow 😬

For anyone out there riding today—watch your step, because there's plenty of ice hiding around the corners...

The streets are mostly dry, so I haven't run into much trouble yet. 🙂

True 👍
Most of the ice was on the bike path in Washington, D.C., though I did hit some patches over on Ozalj...

The wind was being a bit tricky today..
Just a quick one for you :-D

A German, an American, and Joe are having a conversation.
The German says: "Every morning, I fry two eggs sunny-side up, hop in my Mercedes-Benz, and head to work."
The American says: "I fry two eggs with ham, jump in my Ford, and head to work."
Joe says: "I throw two eggs on my bike and head to work."

I’m considering commuting to work by bike (it's about 8.1 miles miles), but my biggest hurdle is the wardrobe situation. I have to wear a suit and tie to the office... it’s not that I’m unpolished, but that’s just the standard policy when dealing with clients. How can I tackle this issue without getting completely soaked in sweat? I don't have access to a shower at the office, so changing in a restroom stall is an option, but still...

If I could dress "casually," I wouldn't even be giving this a second thought. As it stands, it’s a real struggle. Suits are generally made from fabrics that trap heat, making you sweat quite a bit—or am I just being foolish?

Is there anyone else out there who has to rock a suit and actually manages to bike to and from work successfully?

Drew Gray4, do you have any lockers at your office where you can stash that suit? 8.1 miles You definitely won't be comfortable riding in a suit. I have the same setup and there's just no way you aren't going to break a sweat, unless you're planning on a two-hour commute while pedaling at a snail's pace of 6km/h. 😁

Exactly, there is absolutely no way I won't end up sweating. At 7:00 AM, it’s somewhat manageable, but what am I supposed to do in the afternoon carrying a suit and all that? If I'm wearing it, I'll be soaked through.

Well, I don't have any options; I just have those flimsy hanging racks at the office, which are totally useless... if I had a locker, or my own private office, I'd just throw on some gym clothes and change right there, simple as that.

I would truly love to swap the car for a bike—for my health, to save money on gas, and to stop losing my mind looking for parking—but I just can't see the modus operandi yet. :-)

Ronald Diaz said:Drew Gray4, do you have any lockers at work where you can leave a suit? 8.1 miles There is no way you can stay comfortable in a suit; I deal with the same thing and there is zero chance you won't break a sweat, unless you plan on traveling for two hours while biking at 6 km/h. 😁

Since fall is approaching, I’ve been thinking about my gear. Given that I’ll be riding through one of the rainiest cities in the country, I was wondering what you all think about fenders. Does it make sense to pick up something like this:
image

or should I just shell out for some "real" fenders?

The longer the fender, the better. Looking at the photo, that front fender isn't doing much for your sneakers since it’s way too short—and honestly, the rear one should probably be longer too.
If you're riding in the rain, investing in a decent fender is actually worth it—you won't regret it.
