Hey there.

Here is how things stand. Please, don't laugh.

I usually take Triguilar, but I forgot my pills when I started traveling last month. I ended up picking up a new pack in another city and just picked up right where I left off.
I ran into some issues. I was slammed at work, getting home late every night, and just mindlessly popping pills without realizing I needed to stop.
When I hit the "start" mark, I just kept drinking. Basically, from the get-go—I was completely scattered, honestly.

I took three pills before I realized what I was doing. My period started, so I stopped taking them. I probably should have just kept going, but whatever—it happened.
I already messed up this month, so I'm not even going to bother drinking. I’ll just wait and start properly with my next period.

My last period was April 6th. I haven't started this one yet. My cycle is exactly 30 days, so I'm technically one day late.
I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. We’ve been using condoms since I stopped taking my birth control pills—except for that one time, which is why I decided to test.

Based on my tracking, ovulation was around April 26th. I'm not entirely sure how much weight to give that date, but if it's accurate, my period is definitely going to be late.

I’m honestly a bit concerned that I’ve been wound up like this for two days straight. It's becoming a problem.
It’s honestly terrifying. I am incredibly, uncontrollably turned on—I have never experienced a period of desire like this in my entire life.

Is this some kind of hormonal imbalance, or did I just completely screw up with these pills?
I've experienced side effects from those pills myself, and one of them is a massive drop in my libido.
What are your thoughts on this?
Is this normal, or am I just overthinking things?

Look, if you ask me, you haven't messed anything up yet.

I don't know... I’ve seen girls who want to push their cycle back by a few days, so they just keep taking a different pack without any break...
and then once they stop taking them, the period starts.
I really don't think there's any reason to panic here.
As for the fact that you forgot to take your pill and now you're running late...🙄
I can't say for sure, but you'll definitely get your period eventually.

Carol Brooks41 said:Hi there.

Here is the situation—please, I beg you, don't laugh at me.

I typically take Triguilar, but last month I went on a trip and completely forgot to pack my pills. I ended up buying a pack in a different city and just kept going right where I left off with my old supply.
However, things got messy. I was buried under work, getting home incredibly late every night, and I was essentially operating on autopilot—taking my pills without thinking and failing to stop when I actually should have.
When I finally hit the "start" marker, instead of stopping, I just kept going as if I were starting a brand new cycle (honestly, I don't know how I let that happen; I was just totally scattered).

Anyway, after I had taken three extra pills, I realized what an idiot I was being. My period arrived, so I stopped taking them (I probably should have just continued the cycle normally, but whatever, the damage is done).
I decided that since I’ve already made a mess of this month, I won't bother taking any more this cycle; I'll just wait until my next period and start over properly from the beginning.

My last period started on April 6th. I haven't had this one yet, and since my cycle is strictly 30 days, it's technically one day late.
I took a pregnancy test, and it was negative (plus, we used condoms during the window after I stopped the pills, except for one single instance—which is why I tested).

Based on my tracking, ovulation likely occurred around April 26th (though I can't say for certain how reliable that is; if that truly was when I ovulated, it's obvious my period will be delayed).

What really concerns me, though, is that for the past two days, my libido has been through the roof. It is frankly overwhelming.
It's intense—truly, incredibly, indescribably high. I have never experienced a surge of desire like this in my entire life.

Am I experiencing some sort of hormonal imbalance because I botched my pill schedule, or is it something else?
Usually, these pills kill my sex drive entirely, which is one of the side effects I deal with.
What do you all think?
Is this normal, or am I worrying over nothing?

I think it's perfectly normal. It happens to so many women when they stop taking birth control—periods can be late or even skip for two or three months entirely. I find it hard to believe you're pregnant, and the fact that your libido spiked is just the rebound effect; the pills usually suppress it, so now that they're out of your system, it's coming back. I don't think it's a major hormonal disorder, just a slight imbalance that should settle itself. My advice would be not to jump straight back onto the pill once your period arrives. Wait for the following cycle to see how your body behaves and give it a chance to recover from the hormones. I'm not sure if you've ever taken breaks before, but regardless of what some doctors claim about low-dose pills, I believe a break is necessary—maybe for two or three months—so your body can reset. Hormones aren't harmless. Personally, I took the same ones you did, and they messed with my mental state so much that I eventually just quit and told myself "never again." Since I smoke, and combining smoking with birth control increases the risk of blood clots, it really affected my headspace. I decided to just rely on my husband being careful, which is what we did before the pills, and we never had an issue. In fact, I attended a lecture once where they mentioned the failure rate of that method could actually be lower than using condoms, since condoms can break or slip, and anyone who has been intimate knows how to time things correctly.

I haven't forgotten...
Triguilar works in three phases—meaning there are three different types of pills with varying hormone levels.
With Cilest, you can just start a new pack because every pill has the same hormone concentration.
I opened my second pack, but I didn't start at the "start" marker; instead, I just kept taking the pills from the pack I'd left at home.
I picked up where I left off mid-cycle, but once I hit the last pill, I didn't stop—I just kept going straight to the first pill (the one meant to be taken after an 8-day break).
And that first pill doesn't have the same hormone content as the last one.
Three days later, I realized what I was doing and stopped (I probably shouldn't have stopped at all; I likely just confused my hormones, we'll see).

Now you’ve actually got me scratching my head too... ugh, I'm lost...
I suppose everything will work out in the end...🙄

You really shouldn't mess around with those pills, though. Hopefully, you'll be able to make something useful out of this situation...
Good luck.

Sandra Martin72 said:I think it’s normal because many people experience delayed periods or even skip them for 2-3 months after stopping birth control. I don't believe you're pregnant, and having a lower libido while on the pill is just a standard side effect; it makes sense that it returned now that you've stopped. I don't think it's a major hormonal disorder, just a small imbalance that should resolve itself. My advice is to wait until your next period before starting pills again so you can see how things settle and let your body recover from the hormones. I don't know if you've taken breaks before or how long you've been on them, but regardless of what some doctors say about low-dose options, a break is necessary—at least 2-3 months—to let the body reset because those hormones aren't harmless. Just wait for the next cycle. I took the same ones you did, and they messed with my head so much that I just quit and said "never again." Since I smoke, using pills isn't recommended due to thrombosis risks, which is why I felt so anxious. I decided to rely on my husband being careful, which worked fine before the pills and still works now. I actually attended a lecture where they said the pregnancy risk with that method was even lower than with condoms, since condoms can break or be used incorrectly. People know when they're close, so withdrawal works.

I've taken breaks, sometimes for a full year, because the side effects were too much.
During those times, we relied on withdrawal, but someone close to me got pregnant even though her partner was drunk and didn't even finish—that made me paranoid and completely lose faith in that method.
I've heard all about that supposed "pre-ejaculate" issue, even though I used withdrawal for years without any problems.

I don't think I'm pregnant either; the test was negative, and we were using condoms.
Our last unprotected encounter was April 16th, but he didn't ejaculate inside me, and even if he had, a test would have caught it by now.

The problem isn't that my libido came back—it's that it's astronomical.
I can climax four times in thirty minutes and want to have sex 24 hours a day!
I could barely drive ten miles today!
I'm being serious; I am not exaggerating.

It's like I've become a nympho, good grief! It worries me because it doesn't feel normal.

I'm sure everything will turn out fine...🙄

You shouldn't mess around with birth control pills; hopefully, you can still make this work...
Good luck.

How do you not get it?
I was taking my pills exactly as prescribed, on schedule—from the "start" pack. I took about 5 or 6 when I went on a three-day trip and realized I forgot the pack.
I immediately bought a new pack and started on pill number 7, picking up right where I left off with the first one.
Essentially, there were 6 pills left over in the new pack because I had already taken them from the first pack.

I finished the pack, but instead of stopping, I took the first of those 6 leftover pills.
Is that clear enough now?

Honestly, I feel like you’re totally losing it on me right now... but seriously, I don't know the first thing about those kinds of prescription pills you're taking. I have no clue what kind of side effects they could actually cause.
I still think you aren't pregnant and that everything is going to turn out fine in the end..😉

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come off that way; I was just trying to be clearer.
I'm truly not mad at you.

I don't know exactly how those meds work, but it's tricky when things get "messy" because hormone concentrations vary so much from one pill to the next.

I don't think I'm pregnant either—honestly, I was worried, but once I saw the negative test, I calmed down.

I'm not having any PMS symptoms, nor any signs of pregnancy.
My breasts feel totally normal—no soreness, no swelling, nothing.
Aside from that, it's like I have zero hormones in my system, except for this sudden high libido that makes no sense to me.
It might sound ridiculous, but it's just not normal.

Carol Brooks41... if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't sweat it too much. Honestly, I’d probably just hold off on any pills until you get through this upcoming cycle and the next one, just to give your body some breathing room to reset. As for that increased libido? If that's your only side effect, I highly doubt your partner is going to complain! hehe
The test came back negative, so at least you have that peace of mind. Everything else will settle down once your system recovers. Until then, stick to condoms.

I hope you're right.
With everything going on, I feel completely off—like I’m not even myself.

I'm anxious, yet my sex drive is through the roof, which is bizarre because usually, when I'm stressed, sex is the last thing on my mind.

It's hard to explain, but I truly don't feel like myself. I think my hormones might be totally out of whack.

But you're right, what can I actually do?
If I go to my OB-GYN, they'll just tell me the same things you all are saying.
My period is only one day late; if I show up to the doctor now, they'll just laugh at me, especially if I mention my libido is acting up.

Don't sweat it...😉

It’s almost like you're sabotaging yourself with all this military simulation stuff... maybe it's all just psychological at this point.
The test came back negative... you'll definitely get it eventually.
And as for your libido... honestly, it's completely normal. People change.
Maybe it's because of all those pills... I couldn't say for sure.

It might just be in my head, because I’m starting to feel pretty paranoid.
Now I'm even questioning if I can actually trust the results of this test (I know, totally irrational thought.).

Logic and common sense tell me there's zero chance I'm pregnant, but since I messed up my birth control, it's probably just that—hormones are unpredictable and can throw everything out of whack.

Has anyone else here dealt with something like this?

Not me,,,
Ever since I started taking Logest, I’ve become incredibly strict about my routine. I take it first thing in the morning the second I wake up. Even when we're traveling, I tuck them right into my wallet—it’s the only way I can be certain I won't leave them sitting on the nightstand back home.

I can only imagine what you're going through right now and how you're feeling... but please, try not to panic.
If you aren't absolutely sure, just give it a few more days before you take a pregnancy test.
And if your period still doesn't show up, go see your OB-GYN... talk to them. It isn't going to kill you; they are there to help you, prevent any complications, and hopefully give you some solid advice to help you settle your nerves.

If my period doesn't show up in the next couple of days, I'll have to make an appointment with my OB-GYN. It's only one day late right now, though—if I go today, they'll just tell me to wait a little longer.
There shouldn't be any serious or long-term complications from those pills; hormones always stabilize eventually.
Still, I’d definitely feel a lot more at ease once this finally starts.

It isn't like these pills are going to cause any major or lasting complications; the hormones will eventually level out.
That said, I would definitely feel a whole lot more at peace once my cycle finally starts.

During those gaps, we relied on the withdrawal method, but someone close to me ended up pregnant after her partner was completely intoxicated and didn't even finish—that incident made me paranoid and deeply skeptical of that approach.
Apparently, there's that whole theory about pre-ejaculate leakage, though I used withdrawal for years without a single issue.

Calm down, girl—I'm certain nothing happened specifically because of that; your body is under stress, which is likely triggering this hysteria.

On another note, I wanted to ask: did you use the withdrawal method during your ovulation window?

My boyfriend and I always use it, but honestly, it feels shameful to turn him down every time I’m ovulating—especially when my drive is through the roof—just because I’m terrified he might slip up... since his job keeps us apart, we often end up having sex right when I'm most fertile, and realistically, that window lasts about ten days...

So, I went to CVS yesterday to pick up Yasmin, and now I'm just waiting to start them. Since it would be my first time on birth control, reading all these potential side effects on forums and in the inserts has me worried about messing up my system. Everything I've read is incredibly frustrating—I'm torn on whether to actually start taking them, even though I know everyone reacts differently.

Otherwise, my hormones are perfectly fine; I've never had issues with my period, no pain, and my weight and skin are totally normal for my height. My cycle lasts six days and is always on schedule.

So, I'd love for Carol Brooks41 and anyone else using the withdrawal method to tell me: how do you handle it during ovulation? Do you turn him down??
Please, no judgment—I am genuinely conflicted, and I love him too much to keep rejecting him every single month.🤷

To be honest, I’ve heard those horror stories about "pre-ejaculate" carrying sperm, even though I used withdrawal for years without any issues.

Just take a breath; I’m convinced nothing is wrong right now. It’s likely just stress causing you to spiral.

On another note, I wanted to ask: did you guys use the withdrawal method during your ovulation window?

My boyfriend and I have always used it, but it feels so shameful to constantly turn him down when I'm ovulating and feeling incredibly turned on—all because I'm terrified he might slip up... He has a job that keeps us apart frequently, and it often happens that we finally have sex right when I'm ovulating, and looking at the math, there's basically a 10-day window where we could conceive...

Anyway, I went to CVS yesterday and picked up some Yasmin, and now I'm just waiting to start them. But since this would be my first time on the pill, reading all these potential side effects on forums and in the fine print is terrifying me; I'm worried about messing up my body's internal balance. Everything I've read has left me so frustrated and indecisive about whether to actually start taking them, even though I know everyone reacts differently.

For context, my hormones are perfectly normal, my periods have always been regular, I don't have pain, and my skin and weight are fine given my height. My cycle lasts 6 days and arrives right on schedule.

So, I’m asking Carol Brooks41 and anyone else who uses the withdrawal method: how do you handle it during ovulation? Do you just say no?
Please, no judgment—I’m genuinely lost on what to do, and I love him too much to keep rejecting him every single month.🤷

I’ve used the withdrawal method since I first became sexually active, with various partners, and I never had an issue—I didn't even track my fertile days back then. Even during my peak fertility windows, nothing happened. When I actually decided I wanted to get pregnant, we switched to finishing inside, and it still took me five months to conceive, so pregnancy isn't exactly a guaranteed outcome. My advice? Skip the pill. As for condoms, like I mentioned before, I attended a seminar where they argued that withdrawal can actually be more reliable than condoms, given how easily they break, how poorly they can be applied, or how they slip off during intercourse.

I’ve been considering just not using them at all—don't want to risk ruining my body—but since I started dating my boyfriend 2.5 years ago, we've just relied on pulling out. It’s tedious, but it's worked fine so far.
Honestly, the whole thing is starting to weigh on me; it feels like the more you actually learn and read up on this, the more neurotic you become—much like myself.

Melissa Brown - I used the withdrawal method for years, exactly the same way Valneahan does.
I never even tracked my ovulation, and nothing ever happened.
I used to be much more laid back about all of this, but now I stress over every little thing (I guess that’s just what happens as you get older).
That's why I insisted on condoms now that I've messed up my birth control; I'm tired of the anxiety, but here we are again.

We only had one unprotected encounter this month using withdrawal, and it wasn't even during my fertile window—yet here I am worrying, even though the test was negative.
I'm being completely irrational and I know you all have a point—I'm just spiraling for no real reason.

I've done plenty of reading on this method and even came across some research findings.
The withdrawal method has been shown to fail in about 18–20% of cases.
The biggest risk with this method is during repeated intercourse, because sperm left over from a previous ejaculation can reach the uterus.
Additionally, in some men, sperm is allegedly released along with the pre-ejaculate—though it's a very small amount of sperm that the uterine lining usually destroys before fertilization can occur.

My boyfriend is 100% certain he didn't pull out too early, and since nothing ever happened before, he doesn't see any reason why it would now.
Logically, that makes sense. Early in our relationship, we had sex multiple times a day using withdrawal and nothing ever happened, so I think the chances of this one single time resulting in anything are zero, especially since it was well before ovulation.
Then again, since I botched my pill schedule, God only knows when my actual ovulation even occurred.
Based on my mucus, it was somewhere toward the end of April (the 25th, if not later).
