Look, you just need to go see your OB-GYN so you can stop spiraling. Trust me, they’ve seen and heard absolutely everything under the sun—so what could possibly be so "scary" about your situation that it's making you this embarrassed?!

That's true; there's nothing to be embarrassed about, but you can't get to the doctor until tomorrow.
Try every way possible today to figure out if that tampon is actually still in there.
I guarantee it hasn't gone deep enough that you can't feel it with your finger—unless you didn't go deep enough with your finger, which I doubt.
That's why I suggest having your boyfriend try; have him use his index and middle fingers together to reach all the way in. If he only uses one finger, he won't get deep enough.
If even he can't feel it, then it’s probably not in there.
When I insert a tampon, I push it in until it won't go any further, and that's when it "seats" and becomes unnoticeable. There is no way it can slip deeper than that.

The vaginal canal is roughly 3 to 4 inches long before you even hit the cervix.
There is zero chance that a tampon traveled further than that, and there is absolutely no way it entered your uterus—that's just pure nonsense.
So, let's look at the logic: if you can't feel it, where else would it be?
It obviously fell out; there simply isn't anywhere else for it to go.

First, search thoroughly to be absolutely certain nothing is there.
If you only inserted a finger an inch or two, you won't feel it, but if you pushed it in as far as possible—at least 3 inches or more—you should definitely feel it if it's still inside you.
It can't be any deeper than that; there simply isn't anywhere else for it to go.
The cervical opening is incredibly narrow (we're talking millimeters), so there is zero chance it moved past the vagina. Forget that scenario entirely; regardless of how much your friend scares you, she clearly doesn't understand female anatomy.
If that were actually a risk, they wouldn't even manufacture tampons.

Are you feeling any throbbing or discomfort?
If a tampon had been in there that long, it would have soaked through and shifted, meaning you’d feel it, if it hadn't already slipped out on its own.

I’ve honestly never heard of anyone just losing a tampon like that. I find it hard to believe it could actually happen, regardless of the fact that the vaginal canal isn't a sealed vault; it just doesn't seem physically plausible for one to slip out, whether it's soaked or dry. If I were in your shoes, I’d head straight to Walgreens. Or, for what it's worth, is it possible you pulled it out yourself and simply don't recall because you'd been drinking? You might want to take a quick look in the trash can.

Look, girl, if it wasn't absolutely soaked in blood, there’s no way it could have just slipped out on its own—unless you were so hammered that you accidentally pulled it out while you were hitting the bathroom and just completely blanked on it.

Before you head to the doctor, maybe talk to your boyfriend first. Let him take a look, and if everything seems fine, then go see a gynecologist just to put your mind at ease. You won't truly find any peace until you either get an answer from him or get confirmation from a professional, so hang in there.

Just go see a doctor. I know a girl who left a tampon in and didn't bother hitting up her OB-GYN until she started smelling like death. She was absolutely mortified when the doc yelled out to the nurse, "Open a window in here!" Seriously, don't mess around. If you can't find it, just get to the clinic immediately. No thinking, just go.

She’s basically digging around in her own mess, running back and forth from the bathroom to her bedroom feeling completely defeated...

It’s really her only option at this point. She can’t handle it herself, she won't let her boyfriend help, and she's too intimidated by her mother-in-law...😢

Women don't lose tampons on the street every day, but it happens.
If it got soaked or wasn't inserted properly—especially since she was drinking—she probably just caught the string when she went to the bathroom.
She might have even taken it out herself before bed and simply forgotten.
Either way, I've never heard of a tampon being "stuck" so deep that you can't feel it with your fingers.
Honestly, I don't see how that would even be possible.

Regardless, seeing a doctor isn't a bad idea. Just tell them what happened and let them check.
There's no reason to be ashamed.
