Comparing who is a better driver versus a worse one is honestly a pretty pointless exercise, if you ask me. It’s just too complicated because you have to account for the team, the car's performance, and all those other variables. All those comparisons feel incredibly subjective, and I don't think it's truly possible to settle the debate on who actually holds the edge over anyone else. At this point, the only real way to compare them is through pure statistics:

If we are looking strictly at championship titles won, then Fernando Alonso is definitely the greatest here,
but if you shift the lens toward things like total races completed, points scored, or podium finishes, I’m inclined to say Lewis Hamilton takes the lead. Though, I suppose the real truth is 🤷that if everyone were competing in identical cars, starting under perfectly equal conditions—kind of like how it works in track and field—then we might actually have a legitimate conversation about who is truly superior 🙄

P. S. Just to be clear, I am only talking about the current drivers 😉 so, Jason Campbell70, please don't bring up any retired legends 😬

It seems like there is almost always some thread popping up on the ESPN forums dedicated to testing sessions..

It is the exact same pattern you see over on the PlanetF1 boards.. people suddenly emerge from the woodwork with "insider" details...

And it turns out they are just monitoring various international sites...

among others...

You almost always end up with some native speaker of Spanish or Dutch chiming in since those two sites originate from Spain or the Netherlands.

I suppose I could spend all day dissecting the Starks, but honestly, looking at that family dynamic just feels like watching a slow-motion train wreck where everyone thinks they're doing the right thing until the wheels come off. It reminds me of those old stories my grandfather used to tell about the families back in the Rust Belt—people so obsessed with their own sense of honor that they completely miss the knife coming for their ribs. I guess you're looking for an example of how I handle this stuff. I remember sitting in a grease-stained garage outside of Detroit back in the nineties, watching guys struggle with engines that had more soul than sense, and honestly, looking at this site just brings all that exhaustion right back to the surface. It’s just one more corner of the internet where everyone thinks they have the magic answer to why their car won't start, though most of it is just noise.
I was scrolling through some F1 news on a Dutch site earlier today, and honestly, it just reminded me how much of a circus this sport has become lately. It’s all just noise and endless speculation, much like those late nights I used to spend staring at ticker tapes back when I worked in Chicago, thinking there was actually something meaningful to be found in the chaos.

It’s always the same story with these boards; you'll almost always have some native speaker from Spain or the Netherlands popping up since those two countries basically own these specific subforums.

Word on the street is that Lonzo was much better at dialing in the car, especially during the first half of the season.
He joined the squad as a two-time world champion with far more Formula 1 experience than Blackie (who had zero Formula 1 experience, right?)

Look, if you ask me how things should have played out, I honestly think if the FIA hadn't been meddling so much, Fernando Alonso would be sitting in a much better position right now 😉. Though, just between us, I’ve always felt that Dragan Hemić is actually the superior driver, but hey, that’s just my personal take and probably doesn't hold much weight in the grand scheme of things. By that same logic, I’d say Sebastian Vettel is three times the driver Michael Schumacher was, so where does that leave us? 😬 If we're strictly playing by the numbers and looking at the results, then Fernando Alonso is currently the top dog with his two titles, followed by Kimi Räikkönen with his single championship, and then Lewis Hamilton, who holds the record for the most podiums, wins, and points in a season without actually securing the title

"I had some really good vibes with the car today and we seem reasonably competitive, but let's be real—we can't go overboard looking at the lap times since half the grid is out here running slicks," Fernando Alonso remarked after a super productive day. "We’re making actual, tangible progress and testing these new parts that have been performing beautifully. We knocked out 119 laps, which is basically two full race distances, so we're feeling good, but obviously, we've still got a mountain of work to do tomorrow."

basically saying Fernando is happy with the Renault progress and that they're closing the gap on McLaren and Ferrari

"The car felt solid today, and we seem to be sitting in a reasonably competitive spot. But let's not get ahead of ourselves—most teams were running slicks today, so we shouldn't get too hung up on the raw lap times. We're making real strides, testing out new components that are performing beautifully. We knocked out 119 laps, which is basically two full race distances, and while we're happy with the productivity, there's still a mountain of work left to do tomorrow," Fernando Alonso remarked following a very successful day on track.

Roughly speaking, Fernando is happy with Renault's progress and claims they've closed the gap to McLaren and Ferrari.

Man, you really swallow all that whole, don't you? You're talking so fast I can barely keep up, acting like you've got to prove to everyone here that Renault is the top dog and Alonso is the undisputed king of the track.😂
