It’s been pretty steady for me over the last three years..
Before that, I used to deal with delays of about ten days quite often. A couple of times, I missed an entire month and then it finally showed up right at the 56-day mark 😬
And they used to be painful. Especially that first day.

A lot of my girlfriends have issues too—either dealing with cramps or just missing their periods entirely.
For me, the pain really depends on what time of day it starts. If it hits in the afternoon, the second day is usually manageable—I can get by with just one Advil. But if it comes in the morning, the pain is pretty intense that day—I usually need two Advil.

Now, I’m just constantly hoping my cycle stays regular.. Since I’m already two days late this time (probably just stress, I guess), I’m already starting to panic and wonder what’s going on—like, what if I’m actually pregnant?

I have such an irregular cycle that I honestly don't even know where I fit into this poll...
It’s constant chaos. Sometimes it’s consistently late by five or six days, then suddenly it shifts back, and then two months later, it arrives two or three days early.
But it always shows up eventually; my actual cycle length fluctuates somewhere between 26 and 33 days.
The sheer irregularity of it all is incredibly frustrating, especially since I deal with pretty intense pain during both ovulation and my period.

Oh boy, here we go again 🤣

Usually, my cycle is pretty much on the dot at 28 days... maybe a day early or late if I'm lucky...

But lately, things have been totally off. It’s been running almost two weeks late... probably just stress, I guess.🥳 🥳

I’ve finally started taking birth control pills... so I’m on a regular 28-day cycle now.
Honestly, things were becoming a total disaster before this, which is exactly why I decided to go the pill route. My cycle was all over the place; I’d skip an entire month without fail, or my period would show up two or three weeks late. There were even times when it wouldn't arrive for two or three months at a time.
And once, I actually went six whole months without anything happening.
I was genuinely terrified that I might be infertile or dealing with some kind of horrible underlying issue, but it turns out that wasn't the problem. It seems my body is just incredibly sensitive—even the slightest bit of stress or a minor shift in what I’m eating can throw everything off. For instance, if I don't eat quite as well for just two days, I won't get my period that month.

It was just awful.😁

Oh my gosh... I am totally out of it!!
I feel like I’m going to be sick...
My cycle is usually pretty punctual, but is it even normal to be getting it every 21 days?? :S
...especially since for almost a whole year before this, I was hitting EXACTLY day 28 every single time!!!

And one time, I went six whole months without it.
I was terrified that I was infertile or that something was seriously wrong with my uterus... but that wasn't actually the issue. It turns out my body just overreacts to even the tiniest bit of stress or any change in what I eat... so if I eat poorly for just two days, my period stays away for a month.

That sounds awful 😁

I once missed four months straight because of stress and eating junk.

🤣 Must be nice... seriously, give me the secret recipe, because I could really use a break right about now 🙂. For me, stress makes it happen twice a month, and when I eat poorly (which is basically always), my iron levels just tank, making everything even worse 🤣 🤣 Stress hits everyone differently, I guess! Ugh

My cycle runs on a 28-day schedule and typically lasts about five days. On rare occasions, it might start a day early or late. While my flow isn't particularly heavy, I do deal with significant cramping.

Usually it’s about 29 days—though sometimes it stretches out to closer to 40.

Five days.

PMS—bloated, sensitive, irritable, annoying, clingy, depressed, tearful, just pathetic... I bite here and there, it's all complete nonsense, swollen, hungry... basically, a total rollercoaster.

From the age of 13 until I was about 21, every single cycle lasted exactly 29 days, but after that, every second or third month it messes with me—meaning it gets longer. It's been like that for two or three years now. Stress has played its part, I suppose.

I've only ever missed one period in my entire life, and that was after some pretty major sleep deprivation—plus it was summer, I was down at the beach, and so on... it hasn't happened again since.

Sometimes I curse this whole menstruation thing, but then again... it's better to have it than not to have it. I deal with the pain, but I'm certainly not one of those people who ends up in the ER.

It usually runs from the 20th to the 26th, lasting about five days total
I’ve had times where I get it right after the 18th, even when my hormones and iron levels are totally fine😕 but who actually knows with this stuff? It's such a guessing game...

Right now, I’m right in the middle of my PMS☕ and honestly, it’s just pure misery—total temporary depression, feeling like I hate the entire world, zero energy, and being way too sensitive to absolutely everything...
I can always tell when my period is coming based on how drastically my mood swings hit me... sometimes the whole thing drags on for a week... and the cramps? Yeah, they're consistently brutal every single time...

From what I can gather, I might actually be the most extreme case we've discussed so far. It’s just never arrived on schedule for me—though, to be fair, it’s also never been absent 🤣
I suspect that beyond just this specific physiological sensitivity to psycho-physical shifts, genetics likely play a massive role too. My mother deals with the exact same thing; her cycle didn't even become regular until she hit 40 🤣

Honestly, thank God for modern medicine and birth control pills.

I really feel for them... :/

Well... between the ages of 12 and 20, my period lasted 7 to 9 days—usually closer to 9—and my cycle was about 21 to 23 days. Sometimes it felt like I was bleeding more than I actually was, yet all my medical tests came back perfectly normal without any issues. The only silver lining was that I didn't experience any PMS at all, and the flow was actually pretty light. Switching to the pill was a total game changer for me.

It lasts about 25 days, usually peaks around day 4 or 5, and the worst part is definitely that heavy bleeding and intense pain on the second or third day.
As for PMS, it’s hit or miss—some months I feel like I’m literally going to explode, and other times, absolutely nothing happens.

Hannah Lopez40 said:I'm curious about how long your cycles usually last and how heavy the flow is...?
Is it always regular for you?
...I heard there are plenty of cases where girls don't get it for months at a time... I just don't get that!🤷
...I'd love to hear about your experiences...

Mine shows up right on schedule every single month.
AS IF THAT'S A FLEX.
It's about 28 days, give or take a day or two.

And it only lasts 2-3 days... lucky me.😛arty:_

I first started getting my period back in fourth grade, and honestly, over the last eight years, things have been pretty steady. I’ve had maybe a day or two of fluctuation here and there, which is totally normal. But this month, I’m already nine days late. First time in eight years. Now I'm actually starting to worry! It’s not like I’m worried about being pregnant because that's not even on the table 🙂 but it just feels weird... To be fair, I have been pretty stressed lately, and I haven't been sleeping much—maybe three or four hours a night. Some people say the change in seasons can mess with you too. I'm wondering how much all of that can actually impact a missed period? I mean, I've dealt with stress plenty of times before, but my cycle was always on schedule...

My cycle lasts over 30 days and my flow is about 6-7 days. However, I never experience any pain or PMS symptoms. I'm 16 years old.

Elizabeth Hill48 said:I was actually sitting here reflecting on this today... over the last year, my cycle has been nothing short of a mess. We are looking at a window of 25 to 36 days.😕 I am twenty-three years old, and despite starting my period at eleven, my cycle remains completely irregular to this day.😲I get my period about every four or five days at most, and honestly, I have absolutely no idea what people mean when they talk about PMS.🤣 So, I actually went ahead and asked Dr. Miller about getting an ovarian ultrasound—which, mind you, is my first time ever having one done—but... He’s telling me there’s absolutely no way I have PCOS because, if he can even notice, I look "just too healthy."🙄 He told me that during my exam... said there was absolutely no need for an ultrasound. Well, fine then. I suppose he knows better than I do, damn him. And so, here I am, living in this constant state of anxiety every single month, terrified of being pregnant because I have zero clue if or when my period is actually going to show up. Today is day 30, and still nothing.

So, here’s my situation: I’ve been diagnosed with PCOS, which honestly makes zero sense to me. I’ve never dealt with any issues regarding my period—not even back in puberty—my skin is absolutely flawless, and I don't have an issue with unwanted hair at all. It just doesn't add up. 🤷

When it comes to my menstrual cycle, I started back in seventh grade when I was about twelve and a half. I’ve been dealing with this for ten full years now. Before I started taking Yasmin, my cycle was all over the place—it would range anywhere from 24 to 35 days, and I even had a few instances where it showed up after only 19 days. It was completely unpredictable. However, ever since I switched to Yasmin, everything has stabilized perfectly; my period arrives like clockwork every 28 days, right on schedule. 😁
Before I started taking birth control, my first three days were an absolute nightmare of excruciating cramps and pain. And don't even get me started on the PMS—it was brutal. But honestly, Yasmin worked wonders. Now? Not a single trace of PMS or any of that pain left. 🙏

I’ve got my cycle set to 28 days, but that’s only because I’m on the pill... if I skip them, I can go 5 or 6 months without seeing anything at all.
