mellowgull55 said:I pretty much know the exact hour I’ll get it because of my birth control—it hits every four weeks on a Wednesday morning and lasts about 2-3 days😁. I'm actually dealing with it right now...😢

As for PMS, I’ve never really noticed anything major. The only thing is that the day before, I get this dull ache on the side where the egg travels from the ovary through the fallopian tube, and it feels a little swollen if I press on it, but nothing crazy. I don't even need painkillers. But, looking back (now that we're all talking about it), I realized I get weirdly emotional during those days. I start overthinking every little stupid thing until I end up crying over absolutely nothing... just total nonsense.😁

Okay, I just realized what a total moron I sounded like there... The ovary doesn't travel through the fallopian tube, the egg does. 😂🤣
My bad!

My cycle typically runs between 27 and 32 days—though it fluctuates depending on my stress levels—so I honestly have no idea how to track it properly. On the first day, the pain is so intense that I immediately reach for Advil. My period usually lasts about six and a half days.

I take Advil the second I feel even a hint of discomfort because I refuse to endure that "menstrual shock" all over again.

Has anyone else here actually experienced that sensation?

It has happened to me four or five times now, and frankly, it is a horrific experience. The symptoms include nausea, heavy sweating, chills, and muscle spasms in my hands and feet. Then come the uterine contractions, which eventually turn into what feels like actual labor pains (at that point, I am physically straining against my own will in regular intervals). Only one doctor I’ve seen claimed to have heard of such a thing, though she couldn't explain why it happens; she noted it feels significantly more painful than actual labor because you are straining, yet nothing is happening 🙂. Another physician was so visibly bewildered and overwhelmed by my condition that she actually asked me what medication I wanted while I was doubled over in pain right there on the exam table. They have always administered a Voltaren injection in my glute, and once, they had to give me two because the pain simply would not subside.
And just to be clear, I have never been pregnant, nor have I had a miscarriage. I have visited gynecologists, and following a Pap smear and an ultrasound, they have assured me that I am perfectly healthy.
Does anyone else share this experience? Please, if nothing else, I would just like to know I'm not alone in this. 😁

It’s happened to me maybe four or five times now, and let me tell you, it is terrifying. The symptoms are brutal: nausea, heavy sweating, chills, and then muscle spasms in my hands and feet. Then comes the intense uterine cramping, which eventually turns into what feels like actual labor pains. During those moments, I’m literally pushing against my own will in regular waves. Only one doctor I saw had ever heard of anything like this; she couldn't explain why it happens, but she did say it hurts way more than actual labor because I'm straining and nothing is happening 🙂. One doctor was so baffled and overwhelmed by what was happening that she actually asked me what medication I wanted while I was doubled over on the exam table. They always end up giving me a Voltaren injection in the hip, and once, they had to give me two because the pain just wouldn't quit.
And just to be clear, I’ve never been pregnant and I haven't had any miscarriages. I’ve seen gynecologists, and after my Pap smear and ultrasound, they told me everything looks perfectly healthy.
Does anyone else deal with this? Even if you don't, I'd love to hear from someone who does, just so I know I'm not alone in this madness. 😁

Oh my god, yes... I went through the exact same thing when I was younger. I ended up in the ER so many times, and the worst part was how much people just didn't get it—that lack of understanding used to drive me absolutely insane. On top of everything you mentioned, I also dealt with heavy depression in the few days leading up to my period. I finally managed to get things under control by taking birth control.

The PMS is straight-up brutal: depression hits hard, irritability, crying fits, and in really bad moments, even suicidal thoughts... plus those crazy food cravings, bloating, skin being hyper-sensitive to any touch, and sore boobs... Then, once the bleeding stops, I get these massive waves of euphoria and good moods😁. If I actually bother to work out and eat clean, things aren't nearly as bad.

Just jumping in here—my cycle is usually 28-30 days and the flow lasts about 7. Ever since I started taking those herbal supplements, I feel way better. No more mood swings, everything is basically a five out of five👍

Usually runs about 27-32 days, and the actual period lasts 4. I don't really get PMS, more like just straight-up MS because I'm not even moody or anything beforehand—maybe I just crave sugar more? But once my period actually hits, it absolutely destroys me for the first two days (I definitely need Voltaren)...

Honestly, my cycle was a total disaster when everything first started going sideways. For like two years straight, I’d go months without seeing anything, and then suddenly it would decide to show up for two or three weeks straight before disappearing again. It was just... chaos.
I’ve been on birth control for over four years now just to keep things from spiraling, and honestly, they’re my lifeline since everything stays pretty predictable. I tried taking a break once—just a six-month hiatus—and yeah, predictably, all those issues came roaring right back.

My cycle is completely unpredictable. It might show up on day 21, sometimes day 30, and other times it doesn't show up at all. It usually lasts about 6 to 7 days. I'm headed to get blood work done tomorrow to see if there's an underlying hormonal imbalance.

My cycle usually runs about 31 to 32 days—though it can occasionally stretch out to 35—and my period typically lasts for four days.

Hannah Lopez40 said:I'm wondering how long your cycles usually last and how heavy the flow is...?
Is it always regular for you guys..?
...I heard there are tons of cases where girls don't get it for months at a time... I just don't get it! 🤷
...just looking for your experiences...

Before I was on the pill, my cycle was 31 days. Since starting them, it's down to 23 or 24.
Flow is a solid 5.

Over the last few years, my cycle has been a total mess—it’s late by months at a time. But honestly? I’m looking at the bright side. No PMS drama, I can hit the beach in Miami whenever I want without worrying about anything, and let's talk about the money I've saved by not buying endless boxes of pads... ugh, the savings are unreal 🙂

I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried a Thinx? Apparently, it’s meant to be a solid alternative to pads and tampons. A friend of mine over in Finland was raving about how great they are, so now I’m curious—does anyone know where I can actually pick one up around here??
She also sent me this link that explains everything about how these menstrual cups work and how to use them: http://www.lunette.fi/en/ 🙂

p.s. Sorry, I know this isn't really what this group usually discusses, but if anyone happens to have some insight, I’d really appreciate the help!🙂😉

My cycle runs anywhere from 24 to 31 days. I’ve been tracking this consistently for six years now, so I know my baseline. As for the flow, it lasts about five days, and honestly, it’s pretty light.😍

Out of all the options provided, the first one was probably the closest, even if it wasn't exactly spot on. I mean, my cycles are basically every 18 to 20 days and they last about 3 to 4 days...🙄
I get regular checkups and everything seems fine, I guess? But my gynecologist told me that I’m likely heading toward menopause pretty soon, which—let’s be real—is something I am definitely not thrilled to hear at my age (39 😍). She says based on everything she's seeing, there's a huge chance it's coming my way! ...ugh...

Quick question 🙂

Back on October 19th, I had surgery to remove a cyst—laparoscopy. Before the procedure, my cycles were pretty consistent, usually hitting every 26 or 27 days, maybe 28 once in a while. Nothing crazy.

Right after the surgery, things got thrown off and my cycle was super late. My next period didn't show up until November 30th, which was about 39 days later, but honestly, I figured that was just expected given the surgery.

Now I’m waiting on this second cycle and... nothing. It's been MIA since November 30th. Since it's been more than two months since the actual operation, I'm a little lost on how to track this. Should I be counting from that last 39-day cycle to figure out when to expect it? Or should I be looking at my old 26-27 day rhythm? Because if it's the latter, I am seriously overdue...

I don't usually jump into these threads, but since this one involves a super basic, cheap, and easy-to-find grocery item that worked wonders for me, I figured I’d share it here. Maybe it’ll help someone else out too..

For a while there, my period was a total mess. It was incredibly irregular—some months I’d get it twice, and other times my cycle would stretch out to 50 days. Then, someone suggested I try adding fresh parsley to my diet.
I started eating it almost every single day. I tossed it into omelets, smoothies, sauces, salads... mostly just raw. I didn't touch any medications or supplements at all. And honestly? Now my cycle is exactly 28 days. I know down to the day when it's coming. So, if anyone else is struggling with this kind of chaos, give it a shot. You really have nothing to lose..

Hey ladies, does anyone else deal with their lymph nodes in the groin swelling up and getting painful during their period? It happens to me every single month—starts right when my period begins and lasts until the very last day. Otherwise, it doesn't hurt at all. I went to see my OBGYN and everything seems totally fine; no cysts, polyps, or fibroids or anything...

I’ve got a situation going on and figured I’d post here since this thread seems relevant to what I’m dealing with—honestly, I was a little scared to start a new thread just to avoid getting banned.
Please, no mocking 😵

I've been bleeding for 38 days straight. It’s been super light most days—like, I only felt the need to change my pad once a day. But yesterday and today it picked up a bit, though mostly just in the mornings (which is weird because I think my actual period should have started around now). Back in May, I didn't get my period at all (except for one tiny spot after working out). So, could this be from the Athyrazol? I’ve been on it since the second or third month for hyperthyroidism. Or maybe it's stress? High school graduation and college applications are happening right now—though, honestly, I don't feel *that* stressed? I know back when I was enrolling in high school, I was under massive pressure and missed my period for three months.

I started my period when I was 11. It used to be irregular and lasted about 7 days, but over the last year or two, it settled down to 5 or 6 days and became pretty predictable. Since I started taking Athyrazol around the third or fourth month, my cycle has been perfectly on time and barely lasts five days, then nothing happened in May, and now it just won't stop.

I really need to book an appointment with a gynecologist. I’ve never actually been to one—I'm 19 and not sexually active—but the issue is I’d have to see someone here in Miami since I'm not currently in Washington, D.C. where I usually live. My mom doesn't know which doctor is good in this area, otherwise we would've just gone to her regular doctor back in D.C.

If you’re still down in Miami, any recommendations for the Mayo Clinic?
I’m hoping you’ve already managed to see a gynecologist and they’ve put you on something to stop the bleeding—usually just Duphaston—and maybe scheduled an ultrasound if they felt it was necessary.

Has anyone else ever dealt with something like this?

So, I just had a period that was incredibly short, plus it was super light and really pale in color.

Normally, my cycles have always been pretty heavy, involving clots and lasting anywhere from six to seven days.

But then, about fifteen days later, I start getting this brownish discharge again.

I thought to myself, okay, maybe it's just ovulation, or perhaps some kind of periovulatory bleeding, but the thing is, this "periovulatory bleeding" lasts for five whole days. Sometimes it’s just a little bit, but other times, I guess you could say it feels almost like an actual period.

I’m in a similar boat right now; my period isn't due until the middle of next week, but since Sunday, I've been dealing with this light spotting—not full-on bleeding, but enough that I'm low-key freaking out and reaching for a liner.
Back in September, my last pope test came back positive for CIN, then I had a colposcopy in October, and since then, I’ve been knocked around by two different rounds of antibiotics for bladder issues. Honestly, the whole ordeal has been such a massive stressor that I’m wondering if that’s what’s throwing my body off, but the constant worrying is just eating at me.
My follow-up pap is scheduled for either December or January to see if that CIN is still hanging around, and let me tell you, the anxiety is doing absolutely zero favors for my health...

From what I’ve gathered, spotting can sometimes happen during ovulation, though for me, it’s also happened a few days before my period hits, especially when life gets extra chaotic. It actually happened like this back in August, and my period showed up just three or four days later..
