Honey, please—whenever I hear a single floorboard creak or a random thud outside, I’m basically halfway to heaven, and my husband is already wide awake because of the absolute panic I cause! 🙂

I was actually laughing at myself today thinking about how I once wanted to be a journalist in Afghanistan, yet when this movie came on, I didn't even want to be in the house in case someone accidentally aired it on ABC!! 🙈 Too bad there isn't a smiley for :hit me over the head with a shovel:

So, when The Grudge was blowing up at the box office, I actually went all out to set the mood... stayed home alone, killed all the lights, and tuned into NBC. And honestly? Total letdown. It’s not like the movie is garbage, but it definitely isn't anything special either. Usually, I stay far away from horror flicks because I get those weirdly paranoid vibes afterward—like I'm hearing water dripping or a door creaking shut—but after this one, I didn't feel even a flicker of that! 😁 There are a few decent scenes here and there, but overall, it just wasn't scary at all. I read somewhere that Grudge 2 (the whole DVD collection) is way, way better. Apparently, even the American version holds more weight. I'm just not really feeling like watching it right now since the original left me feeling so underwhelmed...

I could never get into the Japanese version of Krug, but man, the original Grudge? That’s easily one of the most terrifying horror flicks I've ever sat through. To me, the American remake just feels like a cheap knockoff. I was honestly waiting for that moment where the actress tries to run from the ghost, finds some "safety" in her own room, and crawls under the covers... thinking she's finally safe, only for the spirit to crawl right out from under the blanket straight into her face. Still gets my skin crawling just thinking about it, especially right before I try to head to sleep. 🙂

I watched it and honestly, it wasn't all that... just a couple of jump scares and then nothing else. Plus, the ending was incredibly stupid, if I don't mention that already.

Her acting can be a bit wooden—honestly, it usually is—but for The Grudge, she gets the job done. At the end of the day, Kayako and Toshio are the real stars of that movie anyway. In my opinion, her best performance was in Cruel Intentions, where she was actually quite good (though I suppose Buffy wasn't half bad either 😁).

Like I said, I actually dug the movie—it definitely jumped out and scared the crap out of me a couple of times. Buffy was solid, too. But honestly? The worst part has to be those stupid commercials they shove in right during the best scenes when things are finally getting intense. That’s why I still love catching movies on ABC... at least they don't interrupt everything with ten-minute ad breaks.

Stiff acting?! I think SMG is actually an excellent actress with so much more potential left to show... I am really looking forward to seeing her in Southland Tales and Alice.😁

I am eagerly anticipating both films, though I wouldn't go so far as to call Sarah Michelle Gellar a great actress; she’s merely solid. Much like Milla Jovovich, really. Both women clearly have more potential, but frankly, I have yet to see them actually deliver on that "more."

OT: In my opinion, The Grudge 3 won't even make it into production, especially considering how much the second installment flopped—both in terms of its actual quality and its box office performance here in the States.

It isn't just some major American studio
working on it, but also Japanese creators.

Don't take everything you read on IMDb at face value. The site is largely user-maintained, which means people can add just about anything they want if nobody is watching. Take Resident Evil 3, for example; some troll spent months relentlessly adding Vanilla Ice and even a random ketchup bottle to the cast list before the moderators finally stepped in to clean up the mess. If we actually end up getting a third installment, God help us all.

That voice coming through the phone? Absolutely iconic. 😂 Later that night, I decided to prank my buddies by calling them from a blocked number and playing that clip. They were absolutely terrified. 😂

It says here that Toby Wilkins is set to direct. Production is scheduled to kick off this coming January, with a release date slated for October 2008. 😲 😲

Well, I guess I have no choice now—I'll just have to sit through the American sequel too. 😬

I really can't stand that movie. For some reason, it just gives me the creeps...
I actually caught it on a special screening recently—well, I think it was my third or fourth time seeing it now, I've lost track. The American version.
I've only sat through the original once.

Even though, if you think about it, it’s basically a remake of a remake—at least from an American perspective—so it's more like a "remake 2.0"...
