One, two, three, four, five, six, seven... I think that's how you say it? I took German back in elementary school, but honestly, the whole thing just felt way too forced, so I eventually just gave up on it.

Anyway, at least when you had your PC open right in front of you, nobody was there to laugh at you while you accidentally spat in it and then sat around for half an hour waiting for it to dry. 🤣

It’s got a Pentium 4 2 GHz Northwood, an Intel stock cooler running on 5V, a Barica 40GB drive, and a Chieftec 360W PSU. For cooling, there's just some random 120mm fan on the exhaust at 5V and an 80mm fan taped over with electrical tape, also at 5V. Case is a Neverpower, can't remember the exact model. Honestly? It's a super quiet build.

Then there's my old one: A64 3200, Zalman 7000B with a 92mm GT fan on 5V, an Epox 9 NPA with a blue Zalman and an AMD stock fan on 5V that doubles as the GPU cooler. Power comes from an AOpen (built by FSP) 300W unit with a Coolermaster 12cm fan, plus an 80mm ADDA fan at 5V blowing on an 80GB Maxtor.

You can tell I didn't care about looks for either of these. I was just chasing silence and keeping things cheap. 🙂

I'd probably suggest tidying up those cables a bit—maybe swap out that IDE cable for one with a rounded tip, too. It’s not just about making it look pretty; it actually helps with performance. Having everything scattered like that really messes with the airflow and cooling.

I'll eventually get it all sorted out, though honestly, it’s not looking too bad as it is. It’s just that this damn motherboard has the power connector placed in the absolute worst spot imaginable...

Those are usually the dumbest things you'll find on a motherboard. 😁

Update: looks like I've decided😁 to paint the whole case. Thinking about doing both the inside and outside, just skipping the front panel....👋

Quick question: once the exterior paint dries, do I need to hit it with a clear coat or something to give it a bit of a shine?

It really depends on which color you pick up. You've got gloss or matte finishes—if you're looking for that shine, I’d probably go with a gloss automotive spray. It dries pretty fast, too, and is probably the easiest to work with if you're using a spray can.
On the inside, if you’re thinking about adding some neon lighting, maybe stick to a pastel shade.
