Look, back in the eighties, you had legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Madonna selling out Madison Square Garden, but nowadays? You’ve got Ilić playing some local dive bar in a suburb, while Pitbull and Dolly Parton are stuck performing at a Lampaš... I mean, if you ask me, there's a massive difference there...

That’s exactly my point, 🙏 look, country artists have their niche, but I’m not convinced there's enough demand to sell out massive arenas.
Seka Aleksić can pack Best Buy, and Pitbull can fill up a Lampaš, but they definitely can't handle larger venues—at least not as headliners.
Who knows, maybe they'll pull it off through sheer luck.

Back in my day,🧐 if you showed up to school wearing a Metalike shirt, you were basically untouchable... total legend status.
But now? My little brother is getting totally iced out by the crowd that only listens to that trashy pop-country stuff.🙂

If you want proof, just look at where these artists actually play and how many tickets they move. It’s a joke. You might see someone like Carrie Underwood sell out a mid-sized theater or a guy like Toby Keith fill up some smaller venues, but they aren't touching major stadiums on their own, at least not yet.
Who knows, maybe if they play a festival or something, they'll pull it off.

It isn't that country music has lost its grip on the culture, it's just that the whole vibe has shifted toward intimate clubbing rather than those massive arena tours we used to see all the time. That's what's trendy now. Personally, I don't think this move works; it's just going to feel watered down.

Seriously, once some veteran with half a ton of explosives sneaks into this party and blows the whole Fairgrounds to kingdom come, then everyone will be shocked.

I don't get how anyone can even think it's a good idea to organize these trash concerts right next to where The Rolling Stones played.

Instead of the city offering that venue to actual bands and singers who can't even fill up Madison Square Garden, they hand it over to these country music wannabes.

It's ridiculous—in Mexico they have two decent rock festivals, while here in Chicago we haven't had a real concert in years, and the few clubs left only cater to this low-brow crowd.

The real tragedy is knowing that only a tiny fraction of people actually listen to this stuff.

By all accounts, I'll be heading back to some major European city this summer to catch my favorite bands instead.

And I bet there will be a mountain of threads titled: "Got mugged outside McCormick Place on my way to the Country Music Festival."

Honestly, I'd much rather see legends like Brian Setzer, Jerry Lee Lewis, or Paul Anka performing in Chicago since they've all dropped killer new albums lately, instead of whatever this junk is being pushed at Times Square.

Since none of those guys have any plans to swing by the States anytime soon, I'll definitely be catching one of them live once they actually announce their tour dates and venues.
