The concert halls are empty not because nobody likes country, but because nobody's going to drop $63 on it (basically, there isn't a massive fanbase waiting bated breath for a new artist's album), it's just music you play when you're drunk and happy—not something you'd pay more than $67 for while risking a night of hypocritical gossip with your old college or work buddies.

And if you're bringing up Garth Brooks in the context of trashy pop-country, you're clearly hard of hearing.

Me? Whether I'm wasted or stone-cold sober, I listen to the same stuff: Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eddie Cochran, Brian Setzer, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and so on.

I suppose I should mention that flags can be such a fascinating subject! It’s funny how much identity we pack into a simple piece of fabric, isn't it?
