It's not quite the same thing. Both places suck, let's be real. At least the Swamp tries to put on shows with these wannabe DJs, and the music actually follows a schedule—usually, when I wander in, they're playing rock or metal hits just because they sound "hard."👎 But the Apple? I only ever went there on Saturdays for those "faith and devotion" nights. All I can remember hearing while grabbing a drink at the bar was Madonna's La Isla Bonita, some The Cult, maybe a Depeche Mode track or two, or Rammstein (which I personally can't stand). That's about it. A friend told me they even played Guns N' Roses a few weeks back. Yeah... I don't know what else to tell you.

I agree... but honestly, it’s the perfect spot for those kids trying to act edgy when they first stumble into the underground scene at 14 or 15...

And generally speaking... hitting up the Swamp is only worth it for those teenagers between 15 and 18... or that crowd of idiots in their 20s who have nothing better to do than get drunk on cheap wine from $2.75 and roll around in the mud at the Swamp...

The whole club is a total wreck from the entrance to the exit... the music is okay once in a while, but that's about it. 🙂

Well, damn, then I guess I'm an idiot too, since at 29 I still find myself heading to the Swamp sometimes...😳
...and I'm definitely not the only one. 😉
By the way, I think it's pretty pathetic to spend my weekends leaning against a bar at some pub like everyone else in my age group does... only to end up complaining about it later. 🙄

Ugh, tell me about it... I’ve been there. But honestly? The absolute worst part is when you’re wasted and try to act all sophisticated on those high bar stools... 😵 sometimes I end up looking like a total circus act 😬

man, I still remember when dmjot—who was this dark, moody 😍 type watching me light up a cigarette back on DD—commented: "I mean, who in their right mind wouldn't indulge with music like this playing?" 😁

Maybe this isn't exactly the right time or place to bring this up... but here we go:

It honestly drives me up the wall when you realize we’re all out here celebrating Halloween or St. Patrick's Day,
but then our own local fall festivals don't even have names that make any sense..

I say we start a revolution! 🙂

I tend to look at this through a lens of logic... or rather, progress.
You can't act and hang out exactly the same way at 30 as you did when you were 15.

I mean... we all shared that same joy back in the day, running around the local park playing "cops and robbers" until we were completely wiped out.
But what now? Should I still be doing stuff like that on a regular basis?

The thing is, if you go to Mocvara for those "classic" headphone nights, it's mostly kids—and I mean 14 or 15-year-olds—and a crowd that, in my opinion, is just totally out of it.
You can't be 27 or 28 years old and tell me it's normal to spend every single weekend drinking warm, flat beer for $3.25 poured by some guy with a half-shaved head and dreadlocks sticking out of his pants, only to hit the restroom and find it smelling like a literal biohazard 🙂, all while standing in knee-deep water and sludge on the "dance floor." 😂

Then you step out to the patio and see groups hovering around the trash bins in waves... just dead-drunk people stumbling and collapsing on the ground.

Honestly, it's a total mess. 🙂

And sure, Apple might have its chaotic moments, but you can't even compare it to Mocvara—not by a long shot.

PS. I only ever show up to Mocvara when there's some rare, once-in-a-lifetime concert. Last time I was there was for the Buzzcocks. 😉

The beer is the same as anywhere else, and I don't mind if someone has dreadlocks. People get drunk everywhere. Anyway, it doesn't matter... I go there to catch up with friends and let loose a little, and that's it. I don't see the issue.😉
Man, I know it looks childish to some, but I'd rather be there than hanging out with a bunch of old farts who have no idea what to do with themselves and only go out just to say they went out.😉

So, my typical night out usually goes a little something like this:
First, I meet up with the older crowd for a few rounds at the local pub. We hang out until about midnight, and once the retirees decide it's time to call it a night, I head out with the younger group. We hit up Apple or Mocvara and keep the party going until sunrise. I'm young at heart, that's just 😁

If you're driving, you aren't drinking. And if you aren't drinking, you might as well skip Apple altogether. Honestly, it’s a joke—even if you hike up there on foot, you still end up feeling sobered up before you even arrive. 🤣
