Imagine being sixteen years old and needing some kind of signed affidavit just to prove you’re sane—and even then, having your parents sign off on your behavior instead of the event organizers actually taking any responsibility...

Paintball wins every time. These airsoft players take the whole war thing way too seriously.🙂

Well, duh—they take it seriously because airsoft is literally a simulation of police and military ops. That's the whole point.

You’ve certainly piqued my curiosity here.... Where exactly can one go to see or try this out? 🙂

The only issue is that my schedule is completely packed right now, and I'm a bit short on funds for the gear.... 😢

Easy for you to say... you're living in Chicago, where you can find a squad whenever you want....
Here’s the link—get in touch with the crew and check out the gear... you won't be too late.

http://www.airsoft-usa.com/forum/

That’s the link for the American airsoft forum. It's basically the hub for organizing anything at all; you can use it to reach out to the teams in the city and get involved however you see fit.

I’m telling you again: this isn't some tactical simulation of police or military ops.AIRSOFT IS A HOBBY.

I haven't seen anything from petric lately. It feels like they've gone quiet on the forums. kaže:
Look, I’m saying this again just so we're all on the same page: this isn't some sort of dry simulation of P and V maneuvers. It's the real deal.Airsoft isn't just some hobby—it’s a lifestyle.

Man, what if it actually turns out to be just a simulation of P and V plays? Honestly, that’s pretty much how it is anyway. If you've got an issue with it, more power to you—but if it doesn't affect your game, you don't exactly have to deal with it.

I don't even know where to start with this one—honestly, it’s just exhausting. I feel like I'm constantly shouting into a void here, trying to make sense of things while everyone else just cruises along like nothing's wrong. It's frustrating, really. Sometimes you just have to vent before you lose your mind completely. kaže:
Look, I’m saying this once more—this isn't some kind of drill or a simulation of P and V actions. It's the real deal.Airsoft is more than just a hobby—it's a lifestyle.

I honestly don't get why you felt the need to reply to my same post twice. What was the goal there?

Airsoft replicas serve multiple purposes, ranging from tactical training for police and military units to honing combat skills for enthusiasts, as well as pure recreation. Because of this, we distinguish between the professional application of Airsoft gear and its role as a hobby. Through simulated tactical scenarios, participants develop physical and mental discipline, foster teamwork, and gain new expertise—all while enjoying a massive adrenaline rush.

I’m part of the Los Angeles Lakers clan (info@airosft-chicago.com). There are also guys from A. T. Zrinski and I think Omega operating out of Washington, D.C., but there are plenty of clubs out there—airsoft just exploded in popularity lately.
Regarding age, you gotta be at least 18 to play airsoft (it's the same rule for getting a permit to carry or own a firearm, buying gas/signal pistols, or even hunting).

Comparing airsoft to paintball is a waste of breath. From what I've seen at a few paintball matches, they use markers while airsoft uses 1:1 replicas of actual firearms. You're basically comparing apples to oranges.

Right now, airsoft is just a hobby in America, but I've actually encountered airsoft being used during training drills with various foreign military and police units. Most players are either former or current military/police personnel or just hardcore enthusiasts. The whole point is to run different scenarios and have a blast in the woods with people who get it.

Pros use it as a type of tactical training, while civilians/enthusiasts use it to get a taste of what they see on TV or through other experiences.

Bottom line is, everyone should just have a good time!

Can anyone recommend a decent place to pick up some Airsoft gear in Washington, D.C.?

If I remember right, that site is based out of somewhere like Columbus, Ohio...

Hey, does anyone know the name of that one Airsoft shop in Washington, D.C.? It's totally slipping my mind... could someone please let me know?

Hey, so I’ve been hearing some buzz about this whole Airsoft thing lately and I really wanted to dig a little deeper into it. Reading through this thread actually makes the whole concept seem way more appealing than paintball—at least from what I can tell after having tried both. My neighbor actually just picked up a rifle recently, though he's being incredibly tight-lipped about how much he dropped on it, probably because he thinks I'm eyeing him as a target. Based on your own experiences, could anyone give me a ballpark figure on what it would cost just to grab a decent rifle and a basic stash of BBs, without getting sucked into buying all the extra gear and tactical kits right away?

Hey, quick question—is it possible to run this using paintball markers instead? My crew already has some paintball gear on hand, so we were thinking of giving it a shot with that first just to see if we actually like it before dropping a ton of cash on the real deal.
Anyone else feeling up for a match?

casualmarlin9 said:First off, you couldn't handle a paintball tournament in full gear. Second, paintball tournaments happen on dedicated fields (like 35x60) packed with inflatable bunkers. AIRSOFT is a war simulation. Paintball is a SPORT!

Like I said, PAINTBALL is a sport! AIRSOFT is simulating WAR! If you can't see how huge the TV coverage is here in the USA or notice the endless tournaments with massive cash prizes, then honestly, you’re just clueless.
The point is, AIRSOFT and paintball are two completely different worlds. I play competitive paintball. I’d probably be the worst AIRSOFT player in this state, but if you step onto my paintball field, I'll have you sorted out in no time...
Don't mix apples and oranges!

Check out what REAL PAINTBALL looks like. So stop mixing up paintball and airsoft!

Now you see the difference!

You've got things a bit mixed up too.
It's definitely true that AIRSOFT is closer to actual combat simulation. The replicas look more realistic and the playstyle reflects that. But look...
What you showed in those videos isn't the only way to play paintball. That's speedball—played on small fields with specific obstacles. We mostly play woodsball. Depending on how big the forest area is, the scenarios can be anything, and in that sense, it's actually very similar to AIRSOFT. The only real difference is that engagements happen at shorter distances since paintball markers don't have the same range, but it's easier to tell when you've actually hit someone.

Bottom line, I dig both.
Just one correction: paintball isn't officially recognized as a "sport" yet. It hasn't quite broken through to get the official status we want, so we're in the same boat as AIRSOFT players, basically playing under the radar.

Cheers to both the AIRSOFT and paintball crews. 👍
