Really? 😈

Isn't the rule that whoever's already in the roundabout has the right of way? Seems like they're doing it backwards if people are coming in from the right. 😛

Grandpa said:Gymnastics. Whatever.

🙂

The absolute most boring sports to watch:
Soccer. An hour and a half of constant sprinting just for two measly goals. What a joke.
Tennis (ugh. ugh. ugh. ugh. meh. ugh. ugh. ugh. ugh. whatever. ugh. ugh. x 10000)
3. racing/auto sports
Table tennis. (Ping. Ping. Ping. Ping. *goes on for eternity*)
5th marathon (this is gonna take forever...)

Best sports to watch:
Track and field comes in all shapes and sizes (besides that marathon everyone's talking about).
Men's swimming, 2nd place. Ugh. 😍
Gymnastics.
4. basketball
5. ice skating session (but solo this time)

Carol Jackson45 said:Really? Is that all there is to it? 😈

Wait, isn't the rule that whoever is already inside the roundabout has the right of way? If that's actually how it works, then wouldn't everything be completely backwards, considering people are coming at you from the right? 😛

Not exactly. They actually went out of their way to point that specific thing out to us, which is why it sticks in my mind. I suppose that used to be the standard rule back in the day, but it feels like they just stopped enforcing it or let it slide into obsolescence. Who knows? Things change.

You know, if you take a good look around lately, you’ll notice that for the last couple of years, they’ve been slapping these flashy little triangles on the approaches to pretty much every single roundabout out there. It’s become a bit of a pattern, hasn't it?

A lecturer once shared this little anecdote with us about how, just a few years back, people would basically charge headfirst into the turbine rotors at a site over in Brooklyn like they were shopping on eBay. They’d dive right in just to score a decent settlement and finally get rid of some useless scrap metal. It was all driven by this mindset among the crews already working there—they were convinced they had the upper hand, so why not take the shot? 🙂

Honestly, if I could just tell you exactly what I’m thinking right now, I probably would. 😠 He really shouldn't have been allowed to tear that down. 🙂 Is there anyone actually out there? Seriously, is anybody even listening? 😬

Man, this afternoon actually spooked me. Am I still loyal to my car collection, or have I somehow developed a craving for this unnatural nonsense known as buying model airplanes? Is this some new obsession hiding deep in my soul that I just didn't realize was there?

Feeling desperate and totally morally bankrupt, I logged onto eBay just to see if my old hobbies were still calling my name... trembling, I pulled up the page...

To make a long story short, I bought this. And this. And this. And hell, I even grabbed this.

I'm perfectly sane. The world is beautiful again. 😎

Look, I said I’d drive—not that I’m handing over the keys to a car I don't even own yet...

I find tennis pretty stupid, honestly, but ping pong? That's the real deal—though, man, it hasn't been the same since they shortened the sets to 11 🙂 )

Honestly, table tennis has been five times more engaging ever since they switched the sets to eleven; you aren't just stuck sitting there watching players coast through those endless deuce battles toward ten anymore.🙂

Samuel Murphy6 said:Speaking of which, have you noticed those fancy yield signs they've been slapping on every single roundabout entrance over the last couple of years?

Yeah, because a triangle is clearly the universal symbol for "go ahead." 🙂

Hey, did you dodge the "eye roll" emoji on purpose? Maybe I don't know how to drive, but I definitely know my road signs better than you do ☕

Three sets to 11 is definitely the way to go.🙂

And serving at two, obviously...

If you play to 21, you just lose focus.😬

I wasn't entirely sure, honestly 😉 but fine, here you go:

karota -> 🙂 🙂 <- borg

Besides that, instead of actually thanking me for the education, you're really going to nitpick over this? 😕 🙂

They only put up those triangles because they finally realized they can't just erase the mindset of everyone who learned to drive before the laws changed, right? Honestly, don't make me look even more foolish than I already feel.

Education? Please. Look, you see a yield sign. That sign basically says: you don't have the right of way, slow down, and let the people already on the road finish their business. If they wanted the opposite, why even bother putting yield signs at every single roundabout?

Carol Jackson45 said:What kind of education are we even talking about here? Look, it’s simple. You see a yield sign. That triangle tells you one thing: you don't have the right of way, slow down, and let the people already moving finish their business. Why else would they bother putting yield signs on every single roundabout if they were trying to achieve the exact opposite?

Yeah, what a lovely little yield sign sitting there down on the left.

:cupakosuodmuke:

Once they changed the rules so that roundabouts don't automatically have priority, and then they went ahead and slapped those yield signs on the approaches:

🙂 Inside the circle, it's just: "Tra-la-laaa, look at me, I'm driving in circles and I own the entire damn road, wait a second, what is this 🙂 creeping in at a pathetic crawl "

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

The moment you install those yield signs, all you've done is create a mess by uniting two different groups: the ones who think they own the roundabout, and the ones who actually know they don't. ☕

Yeah, the vehicle already in the roundabout has priority unless signs say otherwise.

Plus, there's an unwritten rule of politeness where people in the outer lane should exit at the next intersection. 🙂

Samuel Murphy6, when exactly did you get your license?

It's right here on page 67 click

Actually, quite the opposite—I absolutely love leaving people confused... 😈

It likely works so well because I am, well... a bit of a walking enigma myself 😬

And I'm certainly more than acquainted with those Traffic Safety Act regulations... 🙂

Carol Jackson45, pull up that link you sent me, the one with all those different triangle signs. Let’s just apply some basic logic here:

You've got the stop sign, which tells you plain and simple that you don't have the right of way.
Then there's the standard yield sign, which also means you aren't the priority.
And then you have the triangle with the circular arrow, which basically says "please let everyone already in the roundabout go before you even think about moving."

If none of those signs were standing there, we'd just be relying on the old right-hand rule. 🙂
In that case, you might actually be able to merge into the roundabout with the right of way. That's exactly the kind of scenario my driving instructor used to joke about back when I was learning.

Then there's your standard yield sign, which also means you're stepping aside.
And then you've got the yield sign with the roundabout symbol, telling you to let everyone already in the circle go first.

If none of those signs were actually there, then we'd be looking at the right-of-way rule. 🙂
In that case, you could've pulled into the roundabout and had the advantage. That’s basically what my driving instructor used to tell us during one of his little stories back in school...

Spot on.
