My Top 10 Dire Straits tracks.

1. Telegraph Road
2. Private Investigations
3. Ride Across The River
4. What's The Matter With You Baby
5. Romeo And Juliet
6. The Man's Too Strong
7. Six Blade Knife
8. Single-Handed Sailor
9. In The Gallery
10. Where Do You Think You're Going?

I left out Going Home because even though it was released under the band's name on Alchemy, I honestly see it more as a Mark Knopfler solo effort... Now, obviously, Sultans of Swing and Brothers in Arms are absolute heavy hitters at the top of any list, but they've been played to death on the radio and everywhere else, so I just don't vibe with them quite as much as the ones I listed above... or maybe some others that just didn't make the cut.

I just need to figure out where to slot in Calling Elvis. Maybe as number 11... 🙂

Sean Lee7 The user said:I still haven't figured out where to stick "Calling Elvis"... I'm thinking maybe right at number one, but honestly, I'm just spinning my wheels here... 🙂

Alright, here’s a list where that takes the top spot:

Alright, let's settle this once and for all. I'm putting my neck on the line here: what are the absolute best stories involving Dire Straits? Give me your best stuff...

So, I’m standing there at the Greyhound station, maybe five or six years back, just grabbing my phone to call this lawyer we were using to sort out some paperwork for our company registration. His name was Elvis Presley. I’m walking along, mid-conversation, when I pass right by this bar where they’ve got music blasting out of the doors, and wouldn't you know it... it's "Calling Elvis"... 😂 🤣

Yeah, well... a pretty rough anecdote. I write too fast myself. Calling Elvis number 11, then. 🙂

My personal Top 10 list of all-time favorite French flicks:

1. My Uncle - because besides Dad and Charlie Chaplin, this guy is easily the most complete and brilliant filmmaker in history (skipping his other stuff so he doesn't hog the whole list)
2. Atlanta - just because of that raw, brutal beauty from a genius who burned out way too soon
5. The Foggy Coast - honestly, just thinking about that suicide by swimming out into the ocean makes me freeze up even now
4. A Man and a Woman - they took the most pathetic, sappy ingredients imaginable and somehow cooked up a perfect love story
5. Ransom for Fear - if I'm not mistaken, this is officially the most intense movie ever made
6. To the Last Breath - mostly because of that Melville line and whatever else...
7. The Hole - that bit where they flip the mirror in the final scene is just... wow
8. Red Hand Goupi - probably the best depiction of narrow-mindedness and hypocrisy ever put on screen
9. Bully - because you’ll never see two faces match up quite like Jacques Brel and Ventura did in a single film
10. Diva - adding this just so people don't think I'm some pretentious snob who hates everything modern

Yeah, right, because apparently the first syllable in an American word isn't allowed to have any emphasis at all 🙄 😁 😁

Don't confuse me

How does it end again?

I've been playing around with those nicknames, calling them Cankaar and KrizAan...

But I can stop if it's getting old...

Five highlights from yesterday: turning a total disaster of a day into something decent

1. Picking up The Who’s Live at Leeds on vinyl
2. Blasting Lvmen's Raison d'etre in the car at max volume
3. Seeing Bum Pacha Bum live at the local club last night
4. Listening to Ali's stories at the burger joint (two drunk, high girls walk up to me while I'm eating—nothing actually showing, just a lot of attitude. I jokingly tell one to show me what she's talking about, and she actually pulls it out right as the guy next to me takes a massive bite... yeah...)
5. A massive burger paired with track number two
