Why on earth does Anthony the big boss sing Fear of the Dark and Cockroach a cappella the second you open his page?! 😲

Philip, there’s a lineup of gig workers playing in Indianapolis this weekend—November + group, the band of your dreams, and the Mitesers. It’ll be a complete circus, so check it out if you can...

Kevin Chavez3 said:For pizza, Sebastian in Manhattan and As downtown near the market are great.

That boardwalk pizzeria is also quite good. They have a pizza with prosciutto and egg and stuffed crust.😁
Kevin Chavez3 said:The Slavonian house at The Citadel should basically be the constitution for seafood specialties, though I think it’s pretty pricey.

I can't recall the price, but the fish was excellent.🙏
Kevin Chavez3 said:Pilipe, there are gigs in Indianapolis this weekend: Supernova + Group of Your Life + Mitesers. It will be a fun mess, so check it out.

Is that happening today?😢

And they are getting old in the city now.😁

Thanks a lot, OP, you absolute legend of Manhattan and Utrin! 🙏

Eh, it’s definitely not him; why would Anthony ever embarrass himself like that? That’s just the kind of stuff losers sing at some local version of Supernova—probably an Indianapolis edition or something, I don't know, maybe they actually know them or whatever.
If anyone is actually intrigued by this, they're clearly looking for a reason to get roasted.

Gregory Walker15 said:That pizza joint on the boardwalk is actually decent... they have this one with prosciutto and egg, plus cheese-stuffed crusts. 😁

Yeah, Galija is good. Probably the best Slavonian spot in town, though I’ve pretty much blacklisted them because they drove me insane... 😬 I spent way too many nights waiting over an hour for delivery just to pay $12 for a cold pizza. Honestly, I finally lost my cool and told them exactly what I thought. 🙂

Man, Anthony has some seriously thick-headed idiots to deal with... 🙏 🙏 🙏

Maybe he wasn't talking about El Paso, but more like that spot right on the banks of the Danube where you can just hang out by the water. They serve this insane pizza topped with prosciutto, eggs, and spicy sausage, plus a stuffed cheese crust called Pizzaiola... honestly, it’s kind of life-changing 🙏

So, :intriga: why on earth would anyone bring up the Canadian Retfala?

Retfala is just part of the city, and Canadian Retfala is a subset of Retfala itself. 👍 At least, that’s how I’ve always parsed it; that neighborhood has always been a bit of a mystery to me. 😳

As for Vis, I've never actually set foot in El Paso, aside from a few bars... But sure, maybe I'll give it a shot once I'm back home on American soil.

One last thing, and this is the big one: do people here in Indianapolis actually prefer folks from the East Coast or those guys from California? I need to know which persona I should pull out of my back pocket. 😬
Even though, let’s be honest, my first move is always just pretending to be a local. It’s easy enough—you just attempt a slight accent shift when you talk, and honestly, even my wife at the university library once thought I was born and raised right here in Indy. 🙂

P. S. Apparently, there's a Dinamo vs Osijek game happening in town tomorrow. I'm not sweating it, though; I'll naturally just join up with the Cohort and handle any outsiders, without even trying to be some kind of aggressive nuisance or anything.

The hardcore fans only care about Hajduk Split!

Their pizza is definitely top-tier, but man, it’ll definitely hit your wallet hard.

Retfala <= Rétfalva = Village near the fields (Canadian)
Nope.

Even if the first move is obviously faking an Indianapolis accent. That’s easy—you just try to phonetically mimic a Southern drawl. My wife actually told me at the university library that I sounded like I was from the Midwest... 🙂

1) People from LA.

2) No, that's just a New York delusion. There's a certain crowd here that divides America into "the city" and "the middle of nowhere," so anything outside the Northeast corridor sounds identical to them. An Indianapolis accent and a West Coast accent aren't even remotely similar...

It’ll happen eventually. 😵

By the way, I speak fluent Miami slang 🥳 and I can tell the difference between accents just fine -> you can take that Krumpirek Quote and shove it. 😠

The #1 linguistics expert in America:

1. A teller at JP Morgan Chase 👍

So this lady starts chatting me up one day—thinks I'm a Midwesterner or something. I tell her, yeah—born and raised in Indianapolis! She says she's from there too, which is how she guessed, but then she adds that my accent sounds weird, more like someone from a small town in Indiana. It just hit me—I've been seeing this girl from Vinkovci for two years now, so she definitely rubbed off on me 😁. What a joke

I guess I’ll just sit here and paint my nails.

Yeah, I don’t really get those folks from the Midwest. I mostly stick to hanging out with people from the outskirts of Indianapolis, though even they have a certain vibe that feels like they’re just one step away from heading south toward the Gulf Coast. 🙂

😍 Carol Jackson45 says Kevin Chavez3. 😍 [username] 😍

Kevin Chavez3 said:That’s just a typical Washington, D.C. delusion. People around here love splitting everything into "the capital" and "the middle of nowhere," so anything outside that little bubble sounds exactly the same to them. Honestly, the accents in places like Miami or Indianapolis aren't even close to being similar.

👍

Krumpirek Quote 🤣

Samuel Murphy6 said:Yeah, I don't really get those Midwesterners. I only hang out with people from the outskirts, and even they seem a little too much like they're drifting toward the border. 🙂

I can tell an Indianapolis resident apart from other Midwesterners—they just have a sweeter way of talking. Yeah. image

It’s not about having some special crush on people from Miami. It’s just about choosing the lesser of two evils. 😁

(And look, everyone knows I love everyone... I'm just describing the general vibe here in Indianapolis)
