Forget "artistic freedom" and all that nonsense; there is truth and then there is lies. If we have to face the truth, shouldn't they have to face it too? Anyway, you'll just watch the movie and let us know how it was. As far as I'm concerned, no one from that country can tell me anything about El Paso—they already said their piece back in '91. 👋

Not really... when did you even pick that up? 🙂 Honestly, lately my life has been one giant chaotic mess of errands and chores, so I've mostly just been scrolling through Shorts and stuff—it's the only thing that fits into my frantic schedule (sadly 😢)... plus, I’ve fallen into this total Hitchcock-mania phase, so I've just been rewatching his films over and over (finally found Das Schloss—it'll be great practice for my German 😍 )
...But man, I've been reading some absolutely insane double-standard comments about Mr. Arrogance's new film (Winterbottom's take on the King—smart, socially conscious, and he just puts it out on all platforms at once without making a huge fuss! 🙂 )... is the movie actually any good?

...Back to the topic: please, let's not start throwing around "ethnic" commentary until we actually hear from someone who has sat down and watched the damn thing... maybe it's brilliant, maybe it's trash... (*sighs—my roommate, a purebred American woman, drove me absolutely insane an hour ago with her total lack of tolerance, which honestly knows no bounds!!!!*)... but I actually agree with Jose Chase2 on one point (who would've thought? 🙂 )—so much depends on the film's core premise...

The truth always seems to exist somewhere just beyond the reach of the film itself.

I checked out the new one by the girls, "I Have Nothing Nice to Say to You," and honestly, I'm feeling a little let down after all that hype, though it’s nice to see her still focusing on her hometown. I just can't wrap my head around why he felt the need to dig through those old diaries.
Then there was Liljana Sismanovic's "Half-Sister"—it was sweet and clever, actually brought a tear to my eye.
Ivan Faktor's "Zeljko Jerman—My Month" was fantastic; absolutely wild, much like Jerman himself.🙂
I went ahead and booked tickets for El Paso because I'm dying to see it, but apparently, today's show and tomorrow's are already completely sold out!

Why on earth do I have to pay for tickets to the main lineup?!?!?!?! I really can't say I'm a fan of this setup at all...

I finally sat down to watch Herzog's The Wild Blue Yonder, and honestly, it was just beautifully scorched.
The core concept and the underlying message are actually quite compelling 🙂

Since I wasn't walking in with sky-high expectations, it turned out to be a perfectly decent experience. 🙂

Are we getting a sequel to that Herzog flick?

I watched El Paso yesterday. First of all, the film isn't just Mexican; it belongs equally to both the Mexican and American sides of the story. And it certainly isn't attempting to peddle any of that nonsense about how Americans are somehow uniquely righteous regarding El Paso—you know, those self-righteous, drunken crusaders who act as if they have all the answers before the curtain even rises.

It is profoundly sad, deeply moving, tragic, and incredibly thorough. Honestly, I found myself feeling quite moved, even for someone like me whose sense of patriotism sits at a very low level on my hierarchy of priorities! It was being watched by a crowd of liberal-anarchist kids who were probably only five or six years old during El Paso time, and who likely experience the American Civil War primarily through the lens of The Hague and Gotovina.

Screaming Masterpiece is simply beautiful.
