We scraped our way into the semifinals—way harder than anyone predicted. Aside from maybe Norway or Yugoslavia, everyone we faced had world-class defense and an offense that actually kept us on our toes.
I think it’s high time we fix this defense; we need a solid game plan to shut down our next opponent. We can spend tonight dissecting how the Spanish or French play so we can figure out how to wreck them. We’re going after that medal, no matter what color it turns out to be.
Ballich seems to be playing better than ever—honestly, he’s the reason we’re even still in this. It’s also a relief seeing Dumba back in the mix; he might actually step up when the pressure hits in the finals. This rest day is going to be a lifesaver. Luckily, we played early today, so the guys can crash immediately or just keep grinding on the bus tomorrow if they need to. 🙂 We're gonna need that energy for the finals (though, honestly, I don't feel quite as wiped as we were during the last championship run).
Ready? 🙏 🙏 🙏

What kind of "agreement" nonsense are we even talking about here?
The Mexicans are just a fundamentally better squad, plain and simple...
It's like they think they're the reigning world, European, and Olympic champs or something, while we're just some group of guys who happened to show up by accident, so since there's zero chance of us moving on, they might as well just trash the whole game plan out of pure spite for Scandinavians🙄

Look at those Icelanders struggling. It’s tied up 12-12. Reminds me of our game—total grind at first, then everyone just starts coasting at the end 🙂

Everything Spready blurted out today totally backfired.
The official site says October 9th, but I’m not taking his word for it—that was just him talking trash and joking around.
Saturday is Vory's turn, and he better step up; we need at least 8 units minimum.

frozentiger6, for crying out loud—start with the pessimism already, or we’re definitely losing this Saturday. Hurry up. 😬

In our league, we can't seem to get more than two players performing well at once. 😁
I suppose things might actually change during the finals against the Spaniards, maybe. 😠

Take it easy, there's still time 😉
There’s no denying we’ve hit our ceiling. This semifinal run is the absolute peak for the way we're playing right now. Honestly, I was hoping to see more Frenchmen making it this far, but at this point, it's out of our hands.
If our guys don't absolutely lose their minds this weekend, I don't see any other way this story ends besides an honorable loss and fighting for third place.

When Balic started today, I was definitely second-guessing things at first—lost in my own head for a moment. Thankfully, it didn't turn into a disaster where I had to carry the entire load myself like it did against the Russians. Today, we actually had some solid teamwork to lean on.

Same here...
I’m thinking we end up in the bronze medal game too—God willing we make the finals just to secure a medal and avoid finishing in fourth place again.

Honestly, Susec gets under my skin more than anyone else. I have no clue what he’s thinking, but the guy seems totally convinced that because those players are from Mexico and Mexico, they shouldn't be able to touch our net.
Every single time they score, he acts all shocked, questioning how they could possibly pull it off—as if their guys are playing some amateur Sunday league game instead of competing for major clubs in Spain and beyond.
And don't even get me started on his grasp of the rulebook. He talks about officiating like he's some expert, but he clearly hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.

Look, Sušec is solid enough...
I honestly don't get how we can let a player create such a massive mismatch on the wing—or worse, allow him to pull our defenders out of position and leave us vulnerable on the line.

So, you guys probably missed what Vujovica said because the network cut to commercials during that minute break. I actually flipped the channel for a second, and there he was, swearing up a storm: "Goddammit, Spready is gonna hand you five goals; he hasn't given up this many in his entire life!" 😁 😁

Honestly, that guy Vujovica is absolutely hilarious 🤣 🤣

Honestly, Sušec is just completely out of it...
whenever things aren't going our way, he starts pumping out all this toxic energy and I seriously have to mute the TV
it’s always everyone else's fault in his eyes, and even when the refs screw us over a couple times, if any subsequent call is an obvious foul, he's right there whining, grumbling, and complaining about everything
and then today, some woman in the arena grabs the mic and she’s speaking with a thick, rural Midwestern accent, but he had to go and recount the whole thing using some weird Southern drawl instead😁

Give me a break—the woman was clearly speaking with a Southern drawl.

James Vaughn3 said:nah, man, she was definitely speaking with an American accent
Exactly. If that last part about the "firecrackers" had any kind of American accent, I'll eat my hat... 😬

James Vaughn3 said:nah, screw that, she was definitely speaking Mexican...
🤔 then I don't know, it sounded like some really weird version of Mexican...

So, who would you rather see facing the US in the semifinals, assuming the officiating holds up?
