redcrane28 said:Don't take this personally, but this post is just straight-up depressing. What, did you never eat any real food growing up? No roasted vegetables, no cucumber salad, no lentils, kale, stewed greens, sauerkraut, or black radishes?
I don't see what being raised by hippie parents has to do with anything—mine weren't hippies, so they cooked all that stuff, and since I didn't mind it, that's just how we ate at home. For my last birthday, I actually asked for a 🙂 "classic American cookbook," and honestly, it wasn't an idiotic gift at all.
Did I mention the one saving grace, which is that most of my veggies are already 🤮?
Talking about that list above—the greens, lentils, kale, radish, and black radish. ☕
My family knows how to cook green things, especially when my grandma comes over, though she usually gets the seasoning wrong. 😢
And when it comes to portobello mushrooms specifically, it's a real shame when people say they taste too much like onions. 😍

6. Cabbage, kale, chard
7. Swiss chard, specifically the sweet kind you find down in Florida

Man, what a total joke. Look, I’ve got nothing against Patliđan personally—don't get me wrong—it's just incredibly frustrating that in this entire country, you can barely find more than two decent options for anything. It’s honestly exhausting. 😠

Leek lasagna—honestly, the best thing ever. And fried catfish? Absolute perfection!
But I can't stand tomatoes... I seriously can't eat them, whether it's salsa, ketchup, or anything else... ugh!

Honestly, cantaloupe and honeydew are hands down the grossest things ever grown in a garden! :P

My top 10 veggies:
Look, I wouldn't say I'm that much of an anti-everything type; some of them are actually alright:
- As for those "cantaloupe vs. honeydew" debates? We all know which one is which, so why even bother giving in to that pressure from the folks in Chicago? 😉
Honestly, honeydew is the superior choice; cantaloupe is just... meh. 🙄
- I'd also throw in some cucumbers 🙏 especially when you're tossing a salad. 🙂
- Swiss chard 😍 and spinach 😍
- Bell peppers are fine, I guess.
- Sauerkraut is hit or miss for me, though it's pretty legendary in a salad, particularly if you grab some from a deli in New Orleans!

Is cantaloupe even a vegetable? 😲
Zucchini is easily the best veggie, honestly. 🙂
Onions are the best, though—you didn't even put them on your list. Typical.

My top 3 lyrics from the Perfect Journey album
It’s basically a circus at this point
..
.
1. step outside and catch the night rhythm
you've got a Rolling Stone living in your body
2. coming at you in a whole new look
it's a super Elvis riding lightning
shout out from Graceland
3. Shakira, Shakira, Shakira—not really whipping, just vibes
bimba, bimba, bimba
doing the bimba thing all over again

I guess I should probably talk about Ponor—though honestly, where do you even start with that? It’s one of those things that just sits there, right? Just... existing. And it gets me thinking about how much we overlook the small stuff, the little details that actually make up the foundation of everything else. People always want to jump straight to the big picture, the loud noises, the flashy headlines—you know the type—but if you don't respect the baseline, the whole thing just falls apart. It’s like when people try to rush through a project at work without actually understanding the core mechanics; they end up tripping over their own feet. Anyway, I digress. I just feel like there's something fundamentally overlooked here, and it's kind of frustrating, if I'm being honest. Maybe I'm just overthinking it—probably am—but still. kaže:
Wait, are we seriously doing this right now? Is melon actually a vegetable? I mean, I feel like I’ve heard people argue about this a million times—usually when they're trying to be pedantic at a dinner party—but honestly, it’s such a weird rabbit hole to go down. If you're looking at the botanical side of things, it's a fruit, obviously, because it comes from a flower and has seeds and all that jazz... but then you have those people who swear by the culinary definition where anything sweet or grown in a garden counts as something else. It’s just one of those things that makes you want to stare at a wall for a minute. I guess it depends on whether you're talking to a scientist or a chef, but either way, it's a headache. 😲
I don't give a damn about that either. 🤔
God, she thinks everything on that list is garbage... I mean, seriously? Everything? It's like she's just looking for reasons to be miserable—it's honestly exhausting to watch.

zucchini is the GOAT, please. 🙂
onions are the best veggie and you didn't even put them on the list, pffft.
Cantaloupe counts. Zucchini is better though, obviously. 🙂
Onions only come after leeks and green onions. 🙂
