Fall is finally here, and honestly? It’s about time. You know that feeling when the air just shifts—it gets that crisp, sharp edge to it that makes you want to grab your favorite oversized hoodie and just wander around for a bit? That’s where I’m at right now. It feels like everything is slowing down, which is kind of a relief. Life gets so hectic, especially during the summer rush, but autumn feels like nature hitting the reset button. It’s like when you finish a massive project at work and finally get to sit back with a hot coffee and just breathe. Everything starts turning those deep oranges and reds, and there’s just something so cozy about it. It’s the perfect season for getting comfortable and just enjoying the vibe.


Robin Booth, I’ve gotta say—their second album just doesn't hit the same way. It’s like they lost that raw edge. And lately? They’ve been acting all high and mighty with these "self-remixed" versions and those weirdly exclusive, pretentious little projects. Honestly, the second I heard their debut, I told myself I didn't even want them to release a follow-up because that first record was absolute perfection. Back then, they weren't nearly as tangled up in the corporate music industry machine or all those annoying rules you have to play by nowadays.
Yeah, honestly? I'm still feeling pretty bummed that I missed out on seeing them. It’s one of those things that just sticks with you, you know? Like when you realize you missed a huge concert or a big game because of some silly scheduling mishap—you just sit there thinking, "Man, I really should have been there." Just a total bummer.

Look, let’s be real here—I'm totally with you that the FBI takes the top spot, but only by a hair. It's not like they're playing in a different league or anything. To me, number two is just as incredible.

And honestly, unlike you guys who can't stop complaining, I am actually super pumped for the third one!😎

there was this one serial savior at the last wedding I went to. sat right at my table, too. guy probably tried to drag me onto the dance floor five different times, yet somehow managed to dance with basically every woman within a hundred yards. clearly not everyone mastered the whole "just say no" tactic 😁 and to top it all off, he managed to worm his way into almost every single photo. the man really knows how to manage his schedule... 🙏

The absolute legend at that wedding was this guy from a fire station in a small town in the Midwest (located somewhere between a small rural village and another small town in the Midwest—it was obvious from the jump this was going to be top-tier, you can't mess up a location like that) wearing a white button-down, just sitting at our table cracking up while listening to everyone bickering (honestly, a few people were really going at it). He just left his wife and daughter to the "saviors," especially that Feki guy we mentioned, and just laughed. And if we're being real, the vibe—aside from the sheer amount of food—wasn't much different from a decent Thursday night at the blind club. Except since it was a wedding, it was... normal, I guess, to act the way we usually do... 😁

RE: Weddings

Weddings are alright. In a way, I actually enjoy them. It’s nice seeing people let loose and just be happy for once. The charming d. Gedge (The Wedding Present) has already explained somewhere—maybe in a print mag or online—exactly why weddings are cool; he used the word "surreal" or something along those lines. Either way, I always have a good time at weddings. There’s good food, a few drinks... it’s hard to complain.

RE: Interpol

I get it, I get it... all that hype and whatever, but it doesn't change anything. Their first album has that gorgeous track, "Leif Erikson":

"She swears I'm slave to the details but if your life is such a big joke, why should I care.

She feels that my sentimental side should be held with kid gloves but she doesn't know that I left my urge in the icebox"

Pretty sweet.

And Antics has a few solid tracks too. As soon as they start playing, I find myself singing along with the guys, though naturally, I'm singing in English:

"We aren't going to the small rural village, we're heading to the city"

So yeah, that's how it goes.

Maybe they're overhyped and as obnoxious as any other indie phenomenon, but their records are good, and that's all that matters.

I’ll just say I haven't worked up the courage to look at the photos from that concert and party yet. Honestly, I hope I never do. 😁 But man, it was a blast. 😁

I love weddings, no matter how they turn out. It’s all about your attitude. Maybe one day I'll actually enjoy looking at the pictures.

both albums have such a killer opening 😍

I think the second Interpol record holds up quite well, especially when you consider how it flows right into Slow Hands, though I honestly feel the second half of that album could have been left on the cutting room floor. That debut album, however, remains a beautiful piece of work.🙂

I honestly think Interpol would be a phenomenal band if their production wasn't so incredibly polished and washed out. They’ve got killer songs, great arrangements, solid lyrics, and the vocals are there—but that damn MTV-style glossy production just gets under my skin and ruins it all for me.😁 It's the exact same story when it comes to Faith No More.

And look, let me flex my "I was there" muscles for a second—back in September 2002, I was spinning *Turn on the Bright Lights* on repeat and trying to show it to my buddies who were obsessed with Joy Division. Honestly? They totally talked me down on it.😁

Plus, in my opinion, Antics is definitely the weaker record.

So, I threw together a playlist this morning with a mix of Franz Ferdinand and Interpol, just shuffling those two back and forth, and honestly? It’s alright. To me, Interpol feels a bit weaker and kind of soul-less, though they aren't terrible by any means. It’s like when I pick out two types of mushrooms—one is absolutely incredible and the other is just decent—and I toss them both into a stew. I know the second one is fine enough that it won't ruin the whole meal, even if it's a little bland on its own...

I have to say, my perspective on that food analogy is completely inverted compared to yours.
As far as I'm concerned, FF is solid, and frankly, I couldn't care less if they're currently in style.
