My top 3 versions of "If I Had a Hammer":

1. some salmon singing
2. a complete tone-deaf disaster that inspires Dick Clark to host a show where people mock their own talents like in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
3. a MIDI file from this page

Honestly, I’ve never actually heard the original version or anything where someone sings it properly. I have zero clue how this song is even supposed to sound, which is pretty hilarious 🀣

Haha, look at what else I found πŸ˜‚

Here are my top 5 pet peeves lately:
1. My total lack of free time because I'm pouring everything into this synth-pop band, even though I'm technically on my notice period at work.
2. The "schedule" for the light rail system in downtown Washington, D.C. (if you can even call it that!)
3. People bringing up such heavy, serious topics in this thread.
4. Getting older and dealing with the worn-out sound of the strings on my guitar.
5. Being a little short on cash right now.

😠

The top three most obnoxious players on Harvey’s squad:

1. Michelle (total bitch, I hate her with everything I am. But damn, she's hot)
2. Paul (this one really knows how to get under my skin)
3. Ben (just a good old-fashioned dummy)

The undisputed MVP of seasonal room decor: the space heater

My top musical discovery of the year

1. Devendra Banhart

It took me a little while to really wrap my head around him, even though stormyviper11 sent me all his albums as MP3s. But once I actually dove in...

It took me quite a while too. I don't know if he's quite enough to be the "discovery of the year" just yetβ€”that spot is currently reserved for Momus 😁, mostly because I fell for him at first sight, which rarely happens to me 😍. Regardless, he's great, but I realized that all his songs about little critters (sparrows, spiders...) are absolutely flawless. 😬
So, there you have it: Devendra, the bird and bug guy. πŸ™

I actually have the perfect spot for youβ€”Restaurant Pool:
1. After 2 AM, there's an 80% chance some drunk girl will blow you.
2. The bouncers don't just toss you out on the sidewalk; they throw you straight into the Potomac (two guys drowned there about a month ago)
3. Did you seriously miss seeing Flirt on the first day of Bayram?!

But you aren't going there with me. I've been twice, and one time some kid walked in with an AK-47, sprayed a burst into the bar, and just walked out. Of course, none of us 140 people were "witnesses"...

So basically: Devendra singing about birds and bugs πŸ™

Devendra or Momus?

As for the questions...

One's perfect, the other's just as good.
I actually tried to talk Matt into booking Devendra at Whitmore, told him the chances were solid, but honestly, I can't tell if he was just trying to get me to shut up or if he was actually considering it...
And as for Momus, I still have to drill him into the heads of those indie snobs in the Xet Team; if they ever grow to love him, maybe one of us will finally get to see him perform in Washington, D.C.

Not that any of that really concerns you regarding Washington, D.C., though... 😬 😈

Just keeping the averages up. Bravo! This past summer when I was at Iceberg, they drowned one guy, and an electrician barely managed to pull the other one out...

Let’s be real here: every single "indie snob from the Xet Team" has their own walled-off musical consciousness. Nothing and no oneβ€”not even P4Kβ€”can influence them. A true indie Xet Snob (INXS - indie Xet Snob) will never admit to loving an artist just because another indie Xet Snob recommended them (unless we're talking about folk or some other equally cringey genre). They’ll only "discover" it months later, after they've cooked up a story about how they found the music all by themselves.

As for Devendra, you're late to the party. All the indie Xet Snobs have loved Devendra for ages and have been dying to see him perform in D.C.

Top 3 perks of winter:
1. Seeing your breath in the air.
2. When the wind really picks up, you get those massive gusts that are actually fun.
3. Puddles freezing over so you can slide around on them. 😍

Top 3 downsides of winter:
1. It snows for maybe five minutes and then stops.
2. The waterfront gets absolutely freezing.
3. Your feet freeze solid. 😒

The top 1 person God commanded me to take out:

1. Anđelko Kaćunko (per Article 1 of the Divine Law regarding mortal sins—this individual has wallowed so deeply in sin that his sheer arrogance would baffle even the grace of God... therefore, he is sentenced to death via traditional ecclesiastical methods [the stake, the Iron Maiden, decapitation, or quartering])

Late? How exactly am I late, for God's sake? I might have missed the first album, but I downloaded the second one the second it dropped. I even hunted down those rare side releases and downloaded/listened to everything... I'm not that behind, I swear on my late sexual life! 😒 Besides, if there was any delay, it's just because I'm getting older and my reflexes are slowing down... Plus, I fell in with some bad crowds, but hey, I made it out! 😬

Anyway, there's this awesome, weird guy-band thingβ€”he's been playing forever and is totally trippy. Name's Momus. So, uh, if you happen to stumble upon it... maybe you'll dig it in a few months or so! 😁
