Carol Jackson45 said:Oh man, that movie absolutely floored me... which is weird because I usually can't even wrap my head around him or Kate Winslet being in it together,

LOL, tell me about it, I felt the exact same way. When it played at that big film festival over in NYC, I actually skipped it specifically because of the cast choice. Then much later, I stumbled upon it on DVD by total accident, and I didn't even realize what it was at first since I'd totally forgotten the title. But MAN... once I started watching, it just hit me right where it hurts...👍

Carol Jackson45 said:plus I've never really been a huge fan of Kirsten Dunst either (I mean, she's Spider-Man's girl, who could actually be a fan of her like that?)

well, three different people (all separate) have already told me that I actually look just like her...😬

Melissa Collins41 said:just one damn Corto, man!!!

My bad, I should've said comic book superheroes instead of just comic heroes. 😳

But yeah, obviously Corto takes the top spot. 😍
And Dylan Dog would probably be right up there too... 🙂

Carol Jackson45 said:My mistake. I meant comic book superheroes, not just comic book characters. 😳

That’s how I read it, probably because of who was on that list... Otherwise, of course, it's Corto, Frank Harrigan's comics. 😁

Well, looks like women have taken charge 😁

Give me a top five list of music a guy could listen to that would actually make him interesting to me 😬

The original hardcore
Post-punk
Indie-hipster garbage
Some solid noise rock (maybe)
Bluesy country, Americana, stuff like that

(I know, I’m being pretty contradictory here)

Music that makes him instantly uninteresting:

Dance music

Top musical tastes in a girl that actually make her interesting:

5. Goth (provided she isn't being overly dramatic)
4. Harsh noise (assuming she’s still sweet under the surface)
3. Techno (as long as she stays sober)
2. Rap (but nothing weak or mainstream)
1. Power pop-punk like The Ramones, Neurotic Outsiders, or Exploding Hearts

I'd change can listen to to must listen to:

5. Melodic punk (though I know how cliché that sounds 😬 )
4. Indie or Britpop (there’s just something sexy about it)
3. Goth (as long as we aren't talking constant gloom, suicide, or Satanism)
2. The Bambi Molesters
1. Sonic Youth

And if possible, he should be taller than 5'11"😍

The top three highlights from my day today:

1. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a lap-steel guitar—so excited to start learning...
2. Spotted a guy at a red light cruising in a vintage Porsche, blasting Hurrican by Dylan through his speakers... what a vibe.
3. Successfully assembled a shoe cabinet—it actually stands up straight!

Honestly, James, just give up right now.

Haha, I actually think that "I'm black but I'm not" vibe is pretty decent too. 🙂

The "melodic" crowd is just washing their hands of the genre—they're nothing but posers. If they weren't such poser types, they'd be listening to actual pop instead of these genetically modified knockoffs. 🙂

In order to actually pique my interest, she’d need to meet a few criteria:
-be a left-wing liberal
-believe in Buddhism, follow Rastafarianism, and still show up for Mass on Sundays
-rank Giant Step and Black Saint & Sinner Lady as her top albums
-have a degree in German Studies
-actually know how to play the bass

If I’m actually going to give a damn about someone, here’s the deal:

1. She’s gotta be female.
2. She needs to spend her time on stuff like, I don't know, makeup, hair, and all that other superficial nonsense, rather than wasting a single second on music, books, or comics...
3. She can't be too smart at holding a conversation, but she shouldn't be a total idiot either.

A little breakdown of points 2 and 3 (point 1 is pretty self-explanatory, right?):
If she likes the same things I do, we’ll have stuff to talk about, and she might just become a friend. Period.
If she’s into different things but still has an actual opinion, I’ll probably end up arguing with her—which means we either become friends or we stop talking entirely. Period.
So, that basically leaves me with people who have zero interests, and even then, there's a split:
If she can actually hold a decent conversation, I’ll want to talk to her and forget everything else. Period.
If she can’t communicate intelligently, she’s just gonna be boring and uninteresting, and I won't have any desire to deal with her. Period.
Basically, I'm looking for this fragile balance, something somewhere in the middle... a creature rarer than a cross between a snow leopard and some freakish mountain mutant.

When you factor my own looks into this equation, you get the predictable state of my sex life. Period. 🙂
