The Wedding Crashers (2005)

A top-tier romantic comedy—two full hours of the kind of pure entertainment we haven't seen much of in America lately. 👍

A Star Is Born (the depiction of crashing weddings is particularly memorable!) features a fun plot, a stellar cast—you can tell they were actually having a blast on set—humor reminiscent of There's Something About Mary, and a few surprises along the way; you won't regret watching this. 🙏

My only gripe is the rather obvious makeup used on Owen Wilson. 🙄

I agree with everything said, though I’d probably describe the film more as a modern take rather than a standard romantic comedy.

Honestly, there's a certain pleasure in watching that level of arrogance and crude, tasteless humor—mixed with just enough blatant misogyny and sexism to keep things interesting. It all flows perfectly from the sheer talent of Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, who are clearly masters of their craft.



There isn't any doubt in my mind: these guys really rule...

That’s been the issue with American movies lately. They have an excellent opening, but then the writers just run out of steam...

More Vaughn for me, since Wilson was acting pretty whiny for half the movie.

Will Ferrell absolutely stole the show the moment he stepped onto the screen. It truly is a missed opportunity that the crude, over-the-top gay brother or the grandmother characters didn't receive a bit more screen time to develop their bits.

Regardless of those minor grievances, the film is nothing short of a masterpiece. While it doesn't quite reach the heights of Dodgeball or Zoolander, it remains an absolute classic... 👍

When I first saw the trailers, I honestly thought—okay, just another comedy I'll probably skip (even though I generally enjoy comedies and tend to be pretty forgiving with them).

Then I happened to check IMDb and noticed that, for a comedy, it actually holds a pretty decent rating, even if there were quite a few harsh reviews mixed in there. So, I figured I'd give it a shot. I was expecting something along the lines of American Pie, or maybe at least something like There's Something About Mary.

But, well, I ended up being disappointed.

I guess I was thinking about Trading Places again today. It’s one of those movies that just hits differently depending on when you watch it, I suppose. Maybe it's because the whole setup—that high-stakes gamble played by people who think they're untouchable—is still so relevant, even if it feels a bit dated to some. It's a sharp movie, though. Bluntly put, it works. The way they play with class and luck... it's clever. I don't know, maybe I'm just being nostalgic, but there's something about that specific kind of chaos that stays with you. It's definitely not some lighthearted, fluffy comedy. It's got teeth.

Personally, I’d go with "Crazy Rich Asians"—it's a modern comedy that still holds up perfectly today.
