Basil said:I agree with nearly everything here, though Belle Vue is an absolute culinary delight.

It tastes like grape juice... and I would much rather just drink grape juice. :vomit:

1 Foster's (the undisputed king, best liquid in the universe, nothing else comes close)

2 Bavaria 8.6
3 Leffe Blonde
4 Beck's
5 Budweiser Magnum
6 Belle Vue Kriek

Look, I have nothing against the American or Danish brews—really, I don't—but for heaven's sake, you can't call yourself a true beer enthusiast if you aren't counting Belgian, German, English, Irish (and I mean the real stuff, not those cheap gin-infused imitations), and Scottish varieties in the conversation...

I mean, seriously... 🙄

1 foster's (absolute ruler, finest liquid in the cosmos, nothing else even comes close)

2 Bavaria 8.6
3 Leffe blonde
3 becks
5 March Kubrick strong
6 Bella Vue kriek
7 harp
8 Guinness
9 Erdinger
10 amstel

All you’re missing is some American Budweiser and Miller High Life to make this list perfect. 😁

Guinness, Leffe, Bella Vue (for the ladies)—sure. The rest? Fine, I guess, if you’ve got absolutely nothing else to drink. 😁 Except for that Bavaria 8.6 beer tap.

I'd toss in some Hoegaarden, Franziskaner, and Le Trapp blond. That's been my weapon of choice lately.

Question: Is there anywhere in Washington, D.C. with a brewery like Scout in New Haven where you can actually try all these exotic beers? I'm too lazy to trek out to New Haven—not because I hate the place, but because I'm half-convinced the cops are gonna bust me one of these days. 🙂

Oh, my apologies. I clearly lack the refined palate of such elite connoisseurs. How embarrassing.🙂

Budweiser is garbage, yet somehow I still have taste. Meanwhile, that Czech version of Budweiser 👍

Hoegaarden is absolute trash.

And what do you mean by calling Bavaria 8.6 a "beer tap"? Too strong? Wimp.😁
If it were at least 11-15%, I'd be interested.

If it were sitting in the 11-15% range, maybe then we'd talk.

Oh, listen to this guy, saying Hoegaarden is trash... 🙄 You think Erdinger is actually good? Please...

Bavaria 8.6 has an aftertaste like you poured a shot of Bacardi right into it. If that's your style, why not just drink wine or straight liquor? I don't see the point in chugging beer with a massive alcohol percentage. For starters, the taste is disgusting. Even Leffe hits you with the alcohol, but at least it's subtle about it.

Raymond Barrett12 said:Props to the Czech and Danish brews, but honestly, you guys can take your beer drinking straight to hell if you aren't looking at Belgian, German, English, Irish (and I mean actual good stuff, not those cheap gin-flavored disasters), Scottish, and all the other varieties out there...

I mean, look... 🙄

I haven't quite stumbled upon a truly terrible German beer yet (though Beck's is getting pretty close), but I haven't found anything that really blows my mind either—it just doesn't hit the spot for me. Belgians? No question, there are some incredible ones. Unfortunately, I'm pretty weak when it comes to trying British beers, even though a few have actually impressed me. What can I say, when our Beer Lovers Club focused entirely on "exotic" stuff, we ended up sipping on brews from Egypt, Tunisia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Tajikistan, and whatnot, instead of actually getting to know the small-batch English or Belgian microbreweries...

coastalpanther11, as far as I know, there’s nothing in Washington, D.C. that even comes close to Scout in terms of selection, but then again, there's the Beer shop, which delivers right to your doorstep if you hit a certain amount. Besides, most of what they have is already at Scout anyway. Check out www.beershop.com (if you're reading this, puff, oh Great President of said club, I think I deserve at least one free Tranquiar for the free promo! Or better yet, that dark one from Slovakia—I forgot the name, maybe it was golden Ležant or something, if you still have any left!)

Oh, I do. 😁 (Hard liquor, obviously; wine is out of the question.)

Personally, I think the flavor is excellent, despite the high ABV.
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a beer where you can't taste even a hint of alcohol... like Heineken.

You don't even know what makes it worse. Is it the taste or the packaging?
Look, you can't exactly act tough at a nightclub holding some tiny little bottle, especially if it’s green 😁
Imagine walking into a club with a massive 50oz March Kubrick in your hand. That’s how you do it. People see you and instantly realize you aren't someone to mess with. Manly! 🙂

Yeah... Bažant. The lighter versions are actually pretty decent, but the dark one? Total trash. Honestly, I tasted it during some corporate tasting event where we went through about twenty different beers from around Eastern Europe, so all the fine details from that night are kind of a blur thanks to the booze. Haven't been to Canada in like fifteen years, but if I ever find myself back there, I'll try to keep that in mind...
