hehe!

🙂

Let me set the record straight since you clearly thought I was talking about some Germans or whatever 😁 😕

The M.I.A. I’m talking about is Malala Yousafzai—total badass from the UK
Check out the album The Godfather 😉

The definitive ranking of burger joints in Boston:

1. John Doe
2. Five Guys
... (?)
Jane Doe

Today's tally: a double cheeseburger with extra cream, plus a hearty beef stew
Yesterday's tally: a double cheeseburger with extra cream followed by another double cheeseburger with extra cream
Back in Small Town, USA: a double cheeseburger with extra cream, and a few slices of various pies

Sending greetings from sunny Boston! 👋

Ouch! Look, we're on the internet. You can't just say stuff like that.

The M.I.A. I am referring to is Malala Yousafzai, a highly intense woman from Microsoft.
I recommend the album The Godfather.😉

The Matrix 👍 was one of my favorite albums this summer. She is entertaining.😁

My top five scents:

1. Freshly laundered clothes (specifically that scent on guys 😍—you know, that heavy aftershave, Brut, or even Axe. Honestly, there’s something about the smell of Tide laundry detergent that just works! 🙂)
2. A freshly brewed pot of coffee.
3. Cinnamon (especially when it's baked into an apple strudel).
4. The unmistakable aroma of a brand-new book.
5. Lavender.

I agree with everything except the cinnamon. 🙂

A few more additions:

The ocean
Olive oil
Roses
Cognac
Rosemary
The scent of someone you love, no matter what it is (ugh, that’s actually kind of emo 😁 )
And many more.

even better—salt on skin once it dries after a shower. I don't really get people who rinse off immediately... honestly, that's probably the best scent out there.

olive oil

😍

roses

😍

rosemary

😍

for me, it’s all about the smell of sautéed onions😬 😬 😬

It’s emo, sure. But there is nothing better than being so close to someone that you can recognize them just by their smell. And when you absolutely love that scent? It's everything... 🙂

Good grief, that law
it’s part of the recipe
just like liver sautéed with onions
or some leftover mashed potatoes. 🙏

e, man, I love this scent and the powder (talk). It reminds me of when we took the dog to get groomed once—the barber went way too heavy on the powder. He ended up smelling like a little snickerdoodle cookie 😍
but, obviously, after about a week, he smelled like a total dumpster fire again 😬

it’s basically just powdered sugar. Great smell, though.

Apparently, we can't even fall for someone if they don't smell "right"—something about pheromones and all that science... 🙂

What's on your ultimate scent list?

Pillows (both fresh ones and those left behind by a loved one 😳 )
Rain—or rather, that petrichor smell after a storm (is that ozone? 🤔 )
Pine needles (especially during the summer months)
Paper (mostly crisp new pages, though I have a soft spot for old libraries and used bookstores)
Roasted chestnuts (because, well, it's autumn 🙂 )

Honestly, this might be the most profound thing anyone has posted here since Spider-Man first showed up on the boards. 😍

Hmmmm... anyone going to mention the whole family of scents that are lightyears ahead of everything else? I'm talking oil, gasoline, diesel...

Man, I guess that’s what happens when you're an auto journalist and a massive Formula 1 fanatic... 😉

Ooh, and that specific smell of a new car interior, or better yet, those classic vintage rides—like that specific material they used for the seats in those old Ford models back in the day.

And yeah, just for the record, you don't need to tell me I'm a total freak. I already know.

Let me throw in one more scent that has nothing to do with cars, though: Earl Grey tea with a splash of lemon.

Hmm, here is my personal ranking of the absolute worst scents:

1. Vanilla. It’s not inherently terrible, I guess, but using it for car air fresheners is probably the last thing anyone should do. Honestly, it's almost nauseating if you overdo it. 🙂
2. Coconut. Whoever decided to make liquid hand soap based on this scent really deserves to be tied to a chair and forced to listen to nothing but Pat Metheny on repeat.
3. The smell of fried calamari. 🙂

And here is my list of the best morning surprises:

1. Waking up to find a hot breakfast burrito waiting in the oven, and man, does that smell amazing! 🙂

Alright, my absolute favorite smells, no particular order here:

- cinnamon apple pie,
- garlic sautéed in olive oil
- fresh bread straight from the oven

The absolute worst:

- (preach!) any kind of "hanging" air freshener scent in a car, ughhh,
- some lady dousing herself in heavy perfume on the subway in the morning (total breakfast killer)
- hospital smells, gross 🙂

Freshly turned dirt, after a storm.
Pine resin.
Cypress trees.
That salty ocean breeze.
The smell of summer rain. Or maybe just a heavy thunderstorm.
New furniture.
The scent of people I love, or even just an old sweater of theirs.
Caramel (heaven).
