Robin Booth, I can't wrap my head around dropping $60, $70, or even more on some skater shoes when I can pick up a pair of Vans for maybe $20—and they hold up just fine for two years despite me absolutely destroying them [30-25 miles minutes a day on my bike, manual labor all day at the site, basketball a few times a week, and increasingly soccer]...
I’ve already said it: Adidas is the gold standard for quality. That's why every three or four years, I grab a pair of their skate shoes for basketball; the ankle support is honestly better than most dedicated hoops models...

Okay, maybe they've actually stepped their game up recently....
I mean, I know back in the day they were absolute garbage, and I told myself, "No way am I getting ripped off again," but hey, who knows!😬

To be fair though, I used to judge quality solely by how many kickflips I could land before the soles completely disintegrated.😁

Robin Booth said:Honestly, I have to admit that in the past, my only metric for quality was how much skating I could squeeze out of a pair before they completely fell apart at the seams.😁

I just had this hilarious mental image of a skater rocking super bright, flamboyant blue highlights, some messy face glitter, and a Jesus Lizard t-shirt.😍

Wait, what, did he fall head over heels instantly?😉

Pfft, honestly, those were the worst shoes I've ever owned. I had two pairs of Jamie Thomas Circas where the soles just split apart within ten days of hitting the pavement, and then a third pair gave out in the exact same spot after only three months. I've never had a sneaker fall apart like that before. These days I'm rocking some XSJADs—well, they're actually Shadows—and man, they are seriously great.

I’ve had my CX404 for six months now. Honestly? It feels brand new. 😕

This thread has gone completely off the rails, but honestly, who cares about politics or the WTO when we can talk about footwear...

Combat boots are probably the ugliest, most uncomfortable, and least practical shoes on the planet. I’m just glad I only wore them for a few years... even the most beautiful woman's foot looks awkward in them.

Dr. Martens is a different story,😁 though it took me over seven years to finally break my obsession with them—whether it was shoes, socks, or even a watch... I can't believe how much money I wasted on that brand, even back when I was broke. They do have some decent models that actually look good on women, though.
😛

The last high-quality pair I bought for my feet were some Adidas bike shoes from about four or five years ago—the Davide Mirra model, if you know who that is—and they are still basically indestructible... RISPEKAT

Right now, I'm wearing some red Adidas kids' shoes (in the largest size available), mostly because I listen to "bubblegum pop" (as someone once pointed out to me)🙂... They aren't anything special, but once I saw that little heart drawn inside, I just couldn't resist buying them.🙂

Those sneakers with the heart design 😍

Nothing beats a pair of classic Adidas 😳

At this point, those aren't just shoes; they're practically religious icons.

Perhaps I’m just letting nostalgia pull at my sleeve.

To be honest, I hardly wear sneakers anymore. I have one pair of Reeboks that are surprisingly decent—they're probably five or six years old now, but they've held up incredibly well. I really only pull them out when I'm playing sports, though I can't say I get out to do that very often, uh... 😳

Good grief... you can still see the heart and they don't even smell bad... 😁
