Tyler Grant86 said:If they're out of print, you can tell by the price tag. Around here, original CDs only get cheaper when they’re basically impossible to sell—which honestly sucks because I'm way too happy for this kind of stress! 🙂

Regardless, the print run and sales for Franz Ferdinand have been massive here in the States (relative to our market).

The kind of people who think R.E.M. is garbage but call Joy Division a masterpiece—while dismissing New Order as filler—well, they'll find their way to this conversation soon enough.

Was someone looking for me? 🙂

Personally, I find FF to be decent enough—they clearly studied their post-punk lessons and packaged them quite well...
But I’d be lying if I said I didn't notice they did it all much earlier and far better than them...
Look, some of those guys are actually playing in the club tonight 😎

Franz Ferdinand was actually one of my big musical discoveries last year. I even went out and picked up an original CD 😎
The songs themselves are perfectly fine, but once you've sat through ten or fifteen listens, you start to realize they all follow the exact same formula... it’s all very much the same mold.
And honestly, after about ten or fifteen spins, those tracks just don't feel particularly special anymore.

Did anyone catch them performing at the Grammy Awards recently? I mean, I can't quite remember the last time I heard a band sound that out of tune 👎

Do me a favor and head over to AllMusic or some similar site and try to find the greatest debut album ever made. To save you the trouble, it's "Appetite for Destruction" (17 million copies sold), and Franz Ferdinand is the only act that swept every single award possible for a debut.

Dammit, Koja isn't in that lineup, and neither is Ian 😢

And since when was quantity ever a guarantee of quality?

Look, quantity has zero correlation with quality—especially when it comes to awards. I mean, what are they actually for? Who even decides who wins them anyway?

Calling > the greatest debut album ever made is just a fact, but I’m not going to keep arguing it. It’s as pointless as tilting at windmills. 😁

And > is right up there with them.

And if you happened to grow up on British post-punk, it’s entirely possible you’d find New Order to be a disappointment—admittedly, I did. They were absolute legends, whereas Franz Ferdinand is really nothing more than a decent enough band...

Now I’m sitting here feeling completely robbed that I didn't grow up during the height of the British post-punk era. 😁 😁 😁

They exist solely to stroke the egos of specific industry lobbies and to inflate the sales numbers for hand-picked products... nothing more, nothing less.😉

Meanwhile—I’m over here regretting that I spent my youth obsessed with R.E.M. instead of Discipline... damn.

Are you talking about Jan Mekke or Jan Kriss?

Honestly, he would have been better off dead than recording an album about Chinese democracy today.

Yeah, we're on the same page there. Though, honestly, it could have happened sooner...

Anyway, Franz Ferdinand is hitting the festival circuit this summer, so they might be playing somewhere near 🙂

Man, forget all that noise. Seriously though, they actually stole Slash's hat. 😢 😢 I mean, what the hell is Slash even going to do without his hat now?

I mean, I don't think New Order did anything wrong to you! 😠
