It’s been exactly ten years since we lost one of the most legendary figures in the American music scene—the founder and frontman behind Lemon Tree, The Police, and EKV.

I'm not sure if there are any official commemorations happening in New York City, but in San Francisco, they're planning a two-day tribute concert at the start of December (since Lincoln Center is fully booked before then), but I'll get into the details later.

Phenomenal track. It starts by listing the people who cycled through EKV or collaborated with the band over the years. There’s a grim irony to the group's legacy: most of those names are gone now, and even mag isn't mentioned since she was still part of EKV back then.

For what it's worth, EKV was the very first concert I ever attended. I was 14, at the Fillmore, back in 1987. I never saw them again after that.

Oh, they actually did a tribute concert at the Knitting Factory too—I think it was in the main hall!

Yeah, there was an art exhibition over at the Knitting Factory, and I think they showed a documentary too... Anyway, I caught the tribute show and it was 👍 The band doesn't seem to have a name, but they're actually fantastic; the singer has a voice that reminds me quite a bit of Milanov.

There was another gig last night at the Festival... they played Filigran, a group I’d previously heard on TV, and honestly, I don't think they're talented enough to represent a lineup as powerhouse as EKV had (I’m looking specifically at the keyboard player).

There’s going to be another Tribute concert at the Knitting Factory this Saturday, November 13th.

To be honest, I didn't even realize Margita had passed away last year.

To be honest, EKV was the very first concert I ever attended. I was just 14 years old, catching them at the Fillmore back in '87. I haven't seen them live since.

The NYC band is driven by the EKV rhythm section: Dragisa Uskokovic Ćima on bass (heard on *Some Me to Watch* and *As in a Dream - Live 1991*) and Ivan Ranković on drums (on *With Wind in Face* and *Live '86 - Fillmore*). They might have played in NYC, but I doubt it—they’re still working through their setlist. Plus, their keyboardist isn't from Filigran; he's Dejan Tomović (Vampires, Charisma, Sunshine, Vincent van Gogh).

But there will be plenty to say about that when the time comes. 😉Let this thread serve as an In Memoriam for Milan.
