New Trailers

Those with a bit more experience know a trailer is all about the edit, so relying on it too heavily is just silly.

So, how should it actually be done?!
Well, take the one for "Everything About Eve," for example.

At the end of the day, filmmaking really comes down to the magic of the edit. 😉

Trailers always seem to cherry-pick the absolute best bits from a movie. It’s a bit of a trap—you end up sleeping through 90% of the film just because you were waiting for those five minutes of highlights they showed in the teaser.

Honestly, does anyone with even an ounce of sense actually pick movies based on trailers anymore?
(It just occurred to me how absurd this comparison is—it’s like trying to choose a brand of sanitary pads based solely on a commercial and expecting to go running through a meadow in white pants without a single worry in the world!🙄 )

I’m not saying I want to skip the previews entirely!
But I certainly won't be making decisions based on a trailer!
Hmm....

Perhaps a teaser might suffice, provided it isn't masquerading as a full-blown trailer!

Ugh, I absolutely loathe that over-the-top, deep American movie trailer voice. 😁 It drives me insane. My only cure is to mimic him and scream like a maniac in the middle of AMC Theatres.

I actually love a trailer if it isn't just some recycled, repetitive garbage. 😉 But if it’s for an actual good movie? Man, I start drooling.

We're talking about the teaser, the trailer, whatever you want to call it—but let's be real, it isn't an actual preview. It’s just a bait-and-switch. If you get lucky, maybe there's more to the movie than those three decent shots they flashed in the trailer.

So yeah... better off skipping it.

The site itself is foreign, but since all the movie titles are in English, finding what you're looking for is a breeze. Most importantly—you can actually download the trailers and teasers from there, not just stream them.

Look, there’s a massive distinction between a TV spot and a theatrical trailer... personally, I find the ones way more engaging when they don't just cycle through clips from the movie—I mean, give me some clever wordplay, a single striking still, or killer graphics paired with a hard-hitting punchline instead.

I honestly think it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call trailers their own distinct art form—I mean, you really have to be a creative genius to squeeze something actually good out of a long, senseless feature film. 😁

In America, they even have specialized companies dedicated solely to making them.

Unfortunately, my local theater only plays trailers if they’re followed by a massive blockbuster they're certain will draw a huge crowd.

Looking at our local options, the only things that actually felt like real trailers were those short clips for Pretty Dead Girls.
Everything else was just a total letdown—just a handful of randomly picked, poorly put-together clips (though, if we're talking about the absolute champion of this mediocre category, it's definitely Dark Night featuring commentary by Oliver Mlakar 🙂). You really get the impression that all that promotional stuff is treated as nothing more than a necessary evil for them.
