Electronic music isn't some magic fix. I mean, just look at the absolute garbage HAL 9000 put out.😬 👋

I guess I agree... Electronic elements can be a nice touch for a band. As long as they don't overdo it, obviously.

I honestly believe bands can kiss any future success goodbye, at least in the West where people actually have some common sense left.

Yeah, right... because clearly, all the normal people live in the West... 🙄

It’s not that I have anything against people from the East, but when you compare an average, radicalized Iraqi to, say, a Frenchman... I think there's really nothing left to be said.

Actually, there is. Man, you're being pretty narrow-minded. Just like not every American is a fanatic, not every Iraqi is a fundamentalist. Either way, I feel like Jewish extremists go way further. It’s just that they get to do it under a "legitimate" label...
But I guess this is more of a news comment section debate... 😁

Enough is enough...
I should also point out that you completely overlooked my previous comment, average

I guess I should also mention that you missed one of my points. average

Look, I’m talking about regular people here. People who are way more worried about putting food on the table for their families than they are about some crazy plot to kill ten Americans... So just stop talking nonsense.

I get what you're saying. It's fine.

Well, that all depends on what kind of bands you're talking about.
If you're talking about rock, you're wrong. History shows that rock resurfaces every few years and finds its footing as a major genre. For instance, it was king in the 70s, dipped off in the 80s, then had that massive explosion in the 90s... and so on.

If you're talking about metal, you're wrong again. Metal is more of a constant. There have always been people who love it, and there always will be, regardless of whatever trend is currently passing through. That isn't really the case with rap. I'm not saying nobody genuinely loves rap, but most people just listen to it because it's what everyone else is doing right now.

If you mean punk, you aren't just wrong—you're spot on. It's true that the golden age of punk is long gone. Punk isn't dead by accident, either. It probably won't ever reach the mainstream heights it saw during the era of The Clash or the Sex Pistols, but there will always be a crowd listening to it.

Conclusion: you're wrong.👎

Anyway, that's just my two cents.

*Clap clap clap!*

Darwin Awards....
You’ve certainly managed to pick out the quintessential resident of the Middle East there—the fundamentalist type.
Isn't that a bit like claiming the average American is just some poor soul living in a tiny, forgotten rural hamlet?😈 And as for all these bands falling apart, if you ask me, before the rock groups go under, it’ll be rap that finally hits the bottom. That part is a certainty, isn't it? Because right now, it's all just about following a trend, and we all know how fleeting those trends can be.

But yeah, fair point... I mean, every few months some rapper pops up trying to lecture us on why punk and metal aren't actually good...😬

Or perhaps it's more like those local pundits who spend all their time promoting the latest youth movements from the Democratic Party.😁

Rock is never going anywhere... just like the classics... which means rock *is* the classic. 😁

Those electronic thugs popping up every five minutes? They'll be gone soon enough. Same goes for techno, EDM, and all that rap crap you guys love.

Punk wasn't declared dead because nobody was playing or listening to it anymore... it happened because The Clash signed with a major label, the Pistols broke up, and all that.👋 That effectively killed the whole essence of punk. At least, that's one way to look at it...

Signed, sealed, delivered. :-)))
The first smart and constructive post I've seen here. :-)) woohoo!

Exactly... classics... look at it this way:
In twenty years, nobody will remember who Linkin Park was, or some random Limp Bizkit, or heaven forbid Britney Spears, but everyone will still know The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Who, or The Rolling Stones.
And why?
Because they were the pioneers of the rock subculture, and you know that old saying... the first ones are always remembered.
That's precisely the point.
Most of today's bands that actually have merit are built on those foundations—unlike, say, Lenny Kravitz, who basically lifted 90% of Hendrix's riffs and 5% of Page's and now acts like he reinvented the wheel.

look, you don't have to be some pioneer reinventing the wheel just to get noticed... take The Strokes, for example. they aren't doing anything groundbreaking if you ask me... just some retro vibes and riffs that were played out decades ago. but people remember them because they triggered that whole revival movement or whatever. honestly, imagine if someone started pushing steam engines again and everyone went, "oh wow, retro is cool, let's ride that wave." give me a break. it's all just massive money grabs and gimmicks. those bands blow up because the major labels want them to. there's zero difference between them and those MTV pop stars... because that's exactly what they are. screw all of it.👎

My bad. I phrased that poorly. I just meant it lost its massive popularity, even if it didn't actually disappear entirely.

You’ve clearly identified the quintessential Middle Eastern resident. A fundamentalist Iraqi.
That's like claiming the average American is just some loser from a tiny rural hamlet in Kansas.
And regarding bands falling apart? Before any band goes under, rap will be the thing that collapses first. That much is certain. Right now, it’s nothing more than a passing fad, and fads don't have staying power.😈

So, you're telling me that if given the choice between living in the USA or Iraq, you'd pick Iraq? You wouldn't last a week...
As for rap, it’s interesting how this "fad" has managed to drag on for over twenty years...🙄
