BTW, they really should have gone with "Academy Fight Song" or "This Is Not a Photograph" by Mission of Burma instead of "That's When I Reach for My Revolver." To me, that track just sounds kind of hollow.

When it comes to punk rockers and their actual musical talent—you know, how they actually handle their instruments—it’s garbage. I’ve been playing guitar for three years (not that I’m bragging), but I honestly play better than all of them; punk is just one big musical "hoax." Sure, I'll admit there are some decent songs, but the whole thing is full of holes. I'm always asking myself why there are no solos in punk. Every punk out there will tell me it's because they aren't important or because that's just what punk is, but the real answer? They just didn't know how to play a solo;... 👎

Where are the solos, huh? Where? Where?! Show me, you damn punks!🤣 🙂

Sultans of Swing is a legendary track..

Yeah, I'd put it at number one too... totally overrated. That song deserves the top spot way less than some artists who aren't even on this list.
AC/DC better than Zeppelin? They can be your favorite, but they aren't better...

Zeppelin is the one that's actually overrated with those love ballads, trying to imitate the blues, and those idiotic climaxes in every single song. Teen Spirit was the most popular song in the world then and still is.. basically the most popular of all high-quality songs in the world. Plus, it isn't some heart-wrenching sob story; it’s a sharp, aggressive song about real life, not that nonsense that has nothing to do with reality. I mean... it's not like I don't dig it sometimes, but you can't compare it to real blues, though you could definitely compare it to bubblegum pop. It's the exact same thing—people listen to it at parties, when they're drunk, when they're sad, or when they're hitting rock bottom...
Sure, they play fine, but they aren't as good as AC/DC.

I’m all for Dire Straits—really—but it honestly kills me when some eighteen-year-old acts like they’re the first person to ever discover them. Maybe it’s just because I was that kid once, and now I’m stuck feeling regret over all the shows I missed just because I wasn't paying attention (or using my brain). It’s probably not healthy to sit here obsessing over what I should've known fifteen years ago—not that I haven't spent way too much time doing exactly that—but anyway. I stayed up until 2 AM last night and yet, here I am, already at my desk. Time to get to work while you all enjoy whatever music you're into. Cheers.

Well, Moby didn't cover those two... 😁

Regarding the debate over technical skill—one of the two best albums I’ve ever heard* is "Lungs" by Big Black (or rather, by Steve Albini, since Big Black was just him at the time). It’s an album I could actually play myself without breaking a sweat.

"Stairway to Heaven" was probably the biggest song in the world back then and honestly, it still kind of is... I mean, it’s easily one of the most popular tracks ever produced, but let's be real, it isn't some weeping, heart-wrenching dirge; it's actually a great, aggressive song about real life, rather than all that nonsensical garbage that has zero connection to reality! I mean, seriously... and look, it's not like I don't vibe with it sometimes, but you just can't compare it to actual, authentic blues. If anything, it's more like listening to cheesy country pop. It's the exact same thing—people listen to it at parties, when they're drunk, when they're sad, or when they're just having a rough time...
They play fine, sure, but they aren't nearly as good as AC/DC.

Zeppelin is totally overrated, no question about it.

The guy from AC/DC has a voice that could literally tear your ears off!

How on earth did I forget that?

Ethan Perez97, where exactly did you hear that solo in "The Joker"? 😁

It’s Nirvana

It kicks in at 03:13, assuming you can even call it a solo... though by definition, a single note counts as one...

They’re just overhyped guys playing cheesy love ballads and trying way too hard to mimic the blues, topping it off with those ridiculous climaxes in every single track. Smells Like Teen Spirit was the biggest song in the world then and it still is. Honestly, it's easily one of the greatest tracks ever made. It isn't some pathetic, weeping ballad either; it's a solid, aggressive anthem about real life, not that nonsensical garbage that has zero connection to reality. I mean... sure, sometimes it doesn't quite hit the same way as pure blues, but you could compare it to mainstream pop country. It's the exact same thing—people listen to it at parties, when they're drunk, when they're sad, or when they're just having a rough time...
They play well enough, I guess, but they aren't even in the same league as AC/DC.

Ethan Jones42 said:Smells Like Teen Spirit was arguably the biggest song on the planet, and honestly, it still holds that title... specifically when you consider it’s one of the most high-quality tracks out there, not some pathetic, tear-jerking ballad, but a sharp, aggressive anthem about actual life instead of that mindless nonsense that has zero connection to reality, I suppose... and while it might not stack up against pure blues, you could easily draw a line between it and standard country music. They serve the exact same purpose for people: playing at parties, when everyone's drunk, when they're feeling low, or when things are just falling apart...

Smells Like Teen Spirit is nothing more than a blatant rip-off of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from the Pixies era...

Every other comment here is total garbage compared to my perfect breakdown.
But I don't get this one. Argue, explain, or just say what you mean...

There’s a perfectly logical reason why that list starts right at number 77 instead of higher...
it’s because number 75 was Bohemian Rhapsody.

Just listen to that riff from Smells Like Teen Spirit and you'll realize it's identical to the one in Smells Like Teen Spirit, and honestly, I think Kurt Cobain admitted as much himself...

So what? Nirvana essentially lifted almost everything from Nirvana, but if they hadn't, Nirvana wouldn't have sold half the albums they did—nor would they have this legendary status today. By "borrowing" those sounds (and being honest about it), Nirvana actually paved the way for the entire scene to make some real money; before '92, that whole movement wasn't exactly a powerhouse in the American music industry...

for example, think about The Decemberists — Los Angeles, I'm Yours

And how exactly am I supposed to listen to that? What do you want me to do, just suck it up? Screw you. I don't give a damn. Go jump in a lake.
Who cares what he admitted? Get lost. Nirvana didn't just drop one song and one album. If you didn't know that, you're a clueless idiot. They were good people and they don't deserve insults from some small-town jerk like you. Just because you have money doesn't mean you can lecture the whole world.
